Today, my family and I head to Israel and join the Meshoe family where we will bury our recently departed Olga in Tel Regev Cemetery in Rekhasim. Olga passed away just two weeks ago which is difficult to measure as time has seemingly stood still. Yet, we are very grateful to God for his grace in this time and for our many friends and loved ones who have shared in our grief.

I want to take this opportunity to officially thank all of our Israeli friends and colleagues as well as the government officials responsible for making Olga’s burial at Tel Regev possible. Olga will be honored in a way that no other non-Jewish Israeli will be honored, and our families are overwhelmed by the kindness she is being shown.

Years ago, upon learning of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street in Jerusalem, and the trees planted for Coretta Scott King in the Galilee, an Israeli colleague told me, “Dumisani, the Jewish people never forget a friend.” I never imagined that my family would also one day experience being honored in the Holy Land. Though our hearts are broken that it has come so soon for Olga, we are strengthened by Israel’s love and support. To all of our Israeli and Jewish friends around the world, thank you.

International Court of Justice (ICJ) Vice President Julia Sebutinde of Uganda made headlines twice last year. In January, she refused to join her colleagues in the South African government-led attack against Israel, declaring that there is no genocide taking place in Gaza. In May, she defended the purpose of the ICJ (which has no jurisdiction in Israel) and declared that the Court could not settle what is a political dispute between Israel and the Palestinian leaders. Last summer, IBSI senior staff member and attorney, the late Olga Meshoe-Washington gave an overview of Justice Sebutinde’s rulings in this video clip of the Forum on Israel, Africa, & Black America.

ICJ President Nawaf Salam will be returning to his native Lebanon at the request of the country’s newly elected President Joseph Aoun. Justice Salam is being tasked with helping form Lebanon’s new government. As the current Vice President, Justice Sebutinde is in line to become President of the ICJ. The Israeli publication Israel Hayom states:

The transition in leadership comes at a crucial juncture, with Israel scheduled to present its defense brief against South Africa's case in July. According to the court's statutory framework, the president – elected every three years through a panel member vote – oversees the institution's administrative affairs and chairs its panels, wielding a decisive vote in cases of judicial deadlock.

Last November, IBSI Founder & CEO Dumisani Washington wrote an AIW article entitled African Women Refuse to Join the Lynch Mob Against Israel. (He also commented further on his podcast Truth to Power Live.) In the piece, Dumisani likened both Ugandan Justice Sebutinde and Kenyan Alice Wairimu Nderitu, UN Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide, to the heroines of the Exodus story. Quoting the article:

In the biblical story (Exodus chapter 1), the Egyptian Pharaoh commanded the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, to kill every Hebrew baby boy after he was born. The women refused to carry out the evil plan…UN Special Advisor Nderitu and ICJ Justice Sebutinde are modern-day Hebrew midwives who will not go along with the evil plans to attack and destroy Israel. What’s more, it is the women’s commitment to truth that guides them, not a pro-Israel sentiment. This is further proof that defending Israel’s right to exist and defeat its enemies is synonymous with defending the truth.

Exodus 1.20 says, “Therefore God prospered the midwives, and the people continued to multiply and grow very powerful.” This week’s Torah portion just happens to be Sh’mot (Names) which includes this very story (Exodus 1.1-6.1).

Justice Sebutinde defended the truth and now may very well be rewarded with a promotion — a promotion that will place her as a superior to her colleagues at the ICJ. Like Shiphrah and Puah, this likely promotion would make her even more “powerful.”

Lastly, in the previous Africa-Israel Weekly, I explain that Olga passed away during the Torah portion Vayechi (and he lived), where the people of Egypt (Africa) and the people of Israel came together to mourn the death of Jacob, the Hebrew patriarch. Even in her death, Olga's Africa-Israel legacy was being declared. We will share much more on how that legacy will continue in the coming weeks.

This week’s Torah portion Vayechi (and he lived), the final one of Genesis, includes an Egyptian state funeral for the Hebrew, Ya’akov, father of Yosef and the other 12 sons of Israel. This is one of the many times that Africa and Israel are mentioned together in a significant way, as Pharaoh, the leaders of his family, and the leaders of Egypt joined the children of Israel and mourned for their patriarch as if Ya’akov were their father.

Genesis 50.11

And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-Mizraim (Mourning of Egypt), which is beyond Jordan.

Olga passed away during the Torah portion Vayechi, and Africans and Israelis (and Jews in the diaspora) are mourning her passing. I reflected on this fact as we finalized the plans to officially honor her life. For those who have asked about funeral or memorial services, we will release all of the details tomorrow evening (Sunday, January 12).

Shabbat Shalom — and Shavua tov

My daughter-in-law was an extraordinary woman whom I met through the work of her extraordinary father, Rev. Dr. Kenneth Rasalabe Joseph Meshoe. Rev is a South African Parliament Member who served with and led an opposition party to Nelson Mandela’s ANC. Rev is also the founder of DEISI, International, a Black South African pro-Israel organization formed in 2013, the same year IBSI began. I first learned of Rev when I saw this YouTube video in which he defended Israel against the false accusation of apartheid and thus began following his work. Olga would go on to become the CEO of DEISI, International and a colleague and friend of IBSI. So, in a way, I owe a debt of thanks to Israel’s enemies for being so foolish as to use the slander of apartheid. Had they never done that, I may have never met the Meshoes.

Through the collaborative work of the Washingtons and the Meshoes, our son Joshua met Olga and was instantly smitten. The feeling was mutual and about 21 months after our first face-to-face meeting (at an IHOP in Oakland, California - pictured above) they were married in our hometown of Stockton (December 2017). The next month, January 2018, Joshua and Olga had their wedding in South Africa. Joshua told me that, according to the Hebrew calendar, they were married exactly seven years and one day. To that union were born our first two grandsons, Ezra Thoriso (6) and Judah Talemwa (4).

Olga was a brilliant attorney who worked in corporate finance when she took on the work of DEISI, compelled as her father was to speak out for Zion’s sake both as a devout Christian who knew her Bible and as a proud Black South African — as she would often say, a “Daughter of Africa.” Olga was also African royalty, literally a princess of the Tswana tribe. Many knew Olga as a gifted speaker, a meticulous organizer, and a passionate advocate. She was all of those things and much more. Valerie and I have five daughters and were honored that Olga became our sixth. After battling illness for several months, she passed away on Monday, January 6th, 2025, two years to the month after her mother, Mama Lydia passed away.

After Olga was first admitted to the hospital, our dear friend Peggy Shapiro of StandWithUs in Chicago began a GoFundMe campaign for Joshua and Olga’s family. Now that fund will be used to both cover medical expenses as well as Olga’s memorial in the United States and her funeral and burial in her/our beloved South Africa. Her body will be laid next to Mama Lydia.

On behalf of the Washington family and IBSI, I want to thank each of you who have called in, emailed, texted, or posted your condolences. We also thank all who have contributed to the financial campaign. We may not be able to respond to all of you individually, but please know you are very much appreciated. We anticipate Olga’s memorial service will be in the Charlotte, North Carolina area in the coming weeks, and her funeral in South Africa will be in late January or February. Once we have the details, we will share them publicly via IBSI’s email list and social media pages.

We are heartbroken. We are devastated. But, as the Apostle Paul said, “We do not grieve as those who have no hope” (1 Thessalonians 4.13). We will see Olga again. We will see Mama Lydia again. We will see them in the New Jerusalem — in Zion.

On Monday, March 13, 1996, Howard University hosted a forum on the ongoing enslavement of Black Africans in Mauritania and Sudan. More accurately, Howard University hosted a forum on the 1400-year-long Arab Islamic Trans-Saharan Slave Trade of Black Africans. The event was presented by The American Anti-Slavery Group (AASG). The panel included:

• Dr. Charles Jacobs, then the research director of AASG

• The late journalist Sam Cotton.

• The late Dr. Augustine Abulu Lado, and

• Sheikh Anwar McKeen, a Sudanese Muslim and direct descendant of the last Nubian king before Sudan was…solely (an) Arab dominion.

The panel experts shared firsthand, detailed accounts of the jihadist atrocities happening in their countries. They also shared photos and articles to corroborate their stories. In 1975 (over 20 years before the Howard forum), Black Americans to Support Israel Committee (BASIC) co-founder Bayard Rustin spoke of the same humanitarian crisis in Sudan in his article, The PLO: Freedom Fighters or Terrorists.

During the panel, [Sam] Cotton would answer a sympathetic black undergrad…who wanted advice on how to counter the arguments of powerful black deniers like Louis Farrakhan (whose influence in the community had likely scared Howard into not endorsing any “view” of the issue.

(It should be noted that Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, had recently led the Million Man March in Washington, DC just five months earlier — September 1995 — and his status among many Black Americans had never been loftier.)

It is clear from the video that the “sympathetic black undergrad” who “wanted advice on how to counter the arguments of powerful black deniers like Louis Farrakhan” was now-famed author Ta-Nehisi Coates, an HU student from 1993 to 1999. In March 1996, Coates was 20 years old. Below is a transcript of his question for the panel:

All of the panelists mentioned…that they would like African-Americans to play a role in the fight against slavery in the Sudan. But recently, in his trip {to Sudan], Louis Farrakhan, who’s emerged as an African-American leader…made the comment that slavery did not exist, or that it was at a minimal level in the Sudan. Now, the majority…of African-Americans…don't really have a knowledge of slavery in Mauritania and the Sudan. I know I'm a college student and it was definitely a surprise to me. So, what would be the effect, or how can we combat such a comment by such a leader with such a high standing among African-American people?

That young Coates framed his question in this way meant that not only did he believe the testimonies of Islamic slavery in Africa, he was keenly aware that Louis Farrakhan denied it. This also means that Coates, who recently published his latest book entitled The Message in which he falsely accuses Israel of being an apartheid state, has known about the real plight of Africans enslaved, displaced, raped, and slaughtered under Arab Islamic rule for nearly 30 years, and has remained silent. Whereas Farrakhan’s Islamist betrayal of Africa is a sin of commission, Coates’s is a sin of omission — but just as bitter a betrayal.

After Coates’ latest book was released, Africa-Israel Weekly published the article, Ta-Nehisi Coates joins the Black4Palestine Deception. From the piece:

Coates did not travel to and comment on Sudan. He did not “[feel] the warmth of solidarity of ‘conquered peoples’” under any Arab imperialist regime. He was not “interested in patterns of domination, [or] how oppression replicates itself in different contexts” when it came to the…Arab enslavement of Africans. Like the misled who have come before him, his sympathies have been manipulated toward what he perceives as anti-colonial, anti-Western, or anti-White movements. This is how Yasser Arafat and the PLO repackaged the Nazi-inspired determination to destroy the Jewish state of Israel. Recast the Israeli Jews as White settler colonizers and Western imperialists; never mind the fact that Zionism is the liberation movement of the Jewish people or the fact that over 50% of Israel’s Jewish population fled the Arabized/Islamized countries of North Africa and the Middle East.

Episode 24 of Truth to Power Live is entitled, How Black American Leaders Ignored Africa for 'Palestine'. On the podcast, I make the case that neither Coates nor Farrakhan is the point. They are but objects of a much more important lesson. Since the 1990s, there has been virtually no Black American collective, demonstrable concern for Africa. After the genocide in Rwanda (1994) many Black political and civil rights leaders took then-President Bill Clinton to task, feeling he could have done more to help stop the bloodletting. Of course, the entire world was watching the fall of apartheid in South Africa and the subsequent election of Nelson Mandela as the first Black post-apartheid President (also 1994). Those events were 30 years ago, and much has happened in Africa since:

• Genocide in the Congo, 1995-2005

• Darfur genocide in Sudan, 2003-2004

• Nigeria, Boko Haram, and #BringBackOurGirls, 2014, to name a few.

What geopolitical issue has dominated Black academic and political spaces in the US? The Palestinian-Israeli conflict. From leftists like Ta-Nehisi Coates and Cornel West to conservatives like Candace Owens and Glenn Loury (who has praised Coates’s The Message), ‘Palestine’ (or bashing Israel and the Jews) has long since become the exercise one must undertake to assert his/her ‘intellectual adeptness.’ The fact that this growing list of Israel critics are ill-informed and that they willfully ignore the true, enormous problems in the Middle East and Africa show the universal destructiveness of the oldest ethnic hatred known to man: Antisemitism. This brand of antisemitism gives cover to the Islamic terrorists who are guilty of what Jew-haters are accusing Israel of, and much, much more. Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah…the many terrorist proxies of the Islamic Republic of Iran could not ask for better PR than people like Coates and Farrakhan are providing. Groups like Boko Haram and the Janjaweed and governments like Libya, Algeria, and Mauritania are enslaving Black Africans while powerful Black Americans tell the world to look the other way. Or even worse, tell the world to attack Israel.

One of Ta-Nehisi Coates’s favorite themes is reparations for slavery. He has written and spoken passionately on the United States’ obligation to financially atone for its involvement in the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Yet, Coates ignores (or excuses) the current enslavement of Africans in a trade that goes back 14 centuries — an injustice he’s known about since his days as a college undergrad. He heard the pleas for help from the very Africans who suffered these atrocities while attending the most prestigious HBCU in the country. What’s more, for decades, Coates has had a world stage to give voice to the African voiceless who asked for his help before he was famous. Coates is a symbol for the most powerful Africans in the diaspora, Black Americans — a potential Joseph in Egypt to his Hebrew brothers during the famine. Unlike Joseph, however, Coates et al sent his brothers away with nothing knowing they would soon starve to death.

God is watching what Black American leaders do next.

On Monday, November 25, the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board published a piece entitled The U.N’s Anti-Israel ‘Genocide’ Purge. In it, they explain that United Nations Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide, Alice Wairimu Nderitu of Kenya will not have her contract renewed. Why? She will not call Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza a genocide. From the Jewish Press:

In a 2022 paper, Nderitu explains that the term “genocide” was coined in 1944 by Jewish-Polish lawyer Raphael Lemkin to describe massacres of entire ethnic groups with the intention of eliminating them, following the Holocaust.

“As a legal matter, establishing a pattern of violence as a genocide requires demonstrating intent. Israel’s campaign of self-defense doesn’t qualify. The war against Hamas has had many deaths, but Israel’s strategy is intended to dismantle a terrorist regime, not eliminate an ethnic group,” the WSJ noted.

Last summer on IBSI’s Forum on Israel, Africa, and Black America, Senior Staff member Olga Meshoe Washington explained how Justice Julia Sebutinde of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) also refused to condemn Israel unlawfully. Justice Sebutinde is from Uganda.

Sub-Saharan Africa is home to the world’s (soon-to-be) largest and fastest-growing Christian population. According to Pew Research, Africa is also home to the world’s most committed Christians, the vast majority of whom are supporters of the Jewish state of Israel. Yet, these facts are not what either woman cited in their decisions regarding Israel. They simply operated with integrity, applied principles, and resisted the growing Israel-hatred and antisemitism that pressured them to conform.

This week, I was a guest at the European Jewish Association’s 2024 Memorial Dinner in Krakow, a prelude to the Delegation to Auschwitz-Birkenau. I was honored to deliver one of the keynote addresses. Part of the theme was the psychological capture of the West which is unwilling to name the global Islamic jihadist threat posed by the Third Reich of today, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Since shortly after the revolution of 1979, the Iranian regime has been the world’s No. 1 state sponsor of terrorism. The Ayatollahs have made no secret of their desire to establish a global Islamic caliphate by first destroying Israel and then America. Since 2021, Africa has been “the eye of the global terrorism storm”, and Iran’s priority focus is on exporting its genocidal goals. In addition to being the unrivaled leader in exporting terrorism and violence (including the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7th, 2023), the Iranian regime is also brutal to its citizens, jailing, torturing, and executing those who dare protest the government.

However, throughout the years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has also focused on the Black American community as a tool of unrest and instability against the United States, historically Israel’s No. 1 ally.

To understand how and why the terrorist leaders of Iran would specifically target Black Americans (and Africans) in their quest to destroy Israel and the US, one would need to understand the purpose of the KGB-created PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization).

From Zionism & the Black Church:

Arguably, the most effective form of Soviet anti-Zionist deception and propaganda targeting the Black community was embodied by the Egyptian-born, self-proclaimed leader of the Arab Palestinian people. His name was Mohammed Yasser Abdel Rahman Abdel Raouf Arafat al-Qudwa al-Husseini, better known as Yasser Arafat, leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

[From Disinformation by Lt. General Ion Mihai Pacepa]: The KGB had a penchant for “liberation” movements. The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), the National Liberation Army of Columbia (FARC), and the National Liberation Army of Bolivia were just a few of the liberation movements born at the KGB.

Yasser Arafat’s close connection to and collaboration with the Iranian Ayatollahs was as old as the PLO itself. From Tablet Magazine’s Arafat and the Ayatollahs:

The relationship between the Iranian revolutionary factions and the Palestinians began in the late 1960s, in parallel with Arafat’s own rise in preeminence within the PLO. After the Iranian government crackdown of 1963, opposition groups resolved to adopt guerrilla tactics against the shah. By the end of the decade, Iranian opposition factions had made contact with…(PLO) representatives in regional states including Qatar, and also Iraq, where Ayatollah Khomeini had been living since 1965. Marxist Iranian guerrilla organizations looking to receive training soon found their way to PLO camps in Jordan and South Yemen.

Over the years, one of the Palestinians’ and the Iranians’ favorite targets for terrorist propaganda and disinformation in the Black community has been Nation of Islam leader, Minister Louis Farrakhan. In an interview with IBSI, Iranian American journalist Karmel Melamed explained that:

Since the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Islamic regime in Iran has had ties to Louis Farrakhan and his anti-Jewish “Nation of Islam” group as another avenue to stir hate for America from a black organization in the U.S. who hates the Jews and Israel as much as the Ayatollahs in Iran do.

As recently as 2018, Farrakhan traveled to Tehran to meet with regime officials and, while there, joined in the traditional chants of Death to Israel and Death to America.

In January 2020, Hassan Rahimpour Azghadi, a member of Iran's Supreme Council for Cultural Revolution gave a lecture in which he explained Iran’s Blaxploitation.

We have to make our presence felt in the conflict in America that involve blacks and people of color. There is fertile ground for this. With regard to the American people, let me tell you this: If their media fabric and oppressing structures loosen a little bit – America is the kind of country that will disintegrate quickly.

Bear in mind that January 2020 was just four months before the explosion of racial strife that followed the death of George Floyd and the subsequent Black Lives Matter protests and riots; protests and riots that prominently featured Israel hatred and Jew hatred. On May 30, 2020 (just days after George Floyd’s death) the Iranian academic and political analyst Mohammad Marandi described Black Americans as “poor” and “deprived.” From the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI):

In many of America's deprived cities and areas - they call them 'slums' - the schools are really bad and are not safe. Students simply move on to the next grade. Their reading and writing skills are at the level of second or third grade in Iran. They really cannot read properly. So they are poor and deprived. They cannot enroll in a university. They did not attend a proper school. The TV constantly tells them that they are violent smugglers…and so forth. Well, this is the result. All they have left is sports... Obviously, I am not saying that they are all like that. Some of the blacks are in the middle class, some have gotten rich, some have become university professors, and some of them become like Mr. Obama. But Obama himself has joined the establishment and become one of them.

Observe how Marandi accurately explains the poor state of public schools including the high illiteracy rates among Black students (especially Black boys), and the role of media and entertainment in enforcing negative Black stereotypes. The purpose of his characterization is to identify how the poor and working-class Black population would be vulnerable to a predatory, exploitative agenda. Again, this was the PLO’s strategy beginning in the late 1960s.

Over the past few years, the Iranian regime has invested heavily in training Black American (and African) clergy or imams with its radical Shia Muslim ideology. From IBSI’s interview of Karmel Melamed:

One of the most well-known of the U.S.-born, Black Iranian trained clergy is Imam Usama Abdulghani, a Shiite Islamic cleric based in Dearborn[, Michigan] who always praises the Iranian regime, its Supreme Leader, the regime’s brutal terrorist Soleimani and the regime’s founder [Ayatollah] Khomeini while denouncing Israel. He often repeats many of the hate messages about Israel that the regime in Iran spews. Adulghani even praised the violent and sickening Hamas October 7^th attacks on Israelis as well. MEMRI has often showcased his sermons of hate which prominently feature framed photos of the Iranian regime’s founder Khomeini or the Supreme Leader Khamenei by his side while he speaks. Based on his sermons of hate for Jews and Israel and praise of the Ayatollahs in Iran, one can easily deduce that he was trained in Iran and is perhaps now being directly or indirectly funded by them today to spew their hate and sick ideology.

In October, The Free Press reported on Black nationalist Sharif El-Mekki, an adviser to Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro. El-Mekki has received $20 million to establish an all-Black school with all-Black faculty. The money has come from the Gates Foundation, NBC Universal, Nike, and the Bezos Family Foundation. What was part of El-Mekki’s inspiration? The genocidal Islamic Republic of Iran. From The Free Press:

When he was in middle school, [El-Mekki’s] family relocated to Iran, a country he continues to praise to this day. Speaking on a podcast in April 2023, El-Mekki lauded the Iranian education system, stating that “Iran produces more engineers and doctors, scientists, than many other countries. To be that small, but there’s such an emphasis on education and understanding.” In that same interview, El-Mekki bashed America as “anti-black and anti-intellectual.” 

El-Mekki’s late mother, Aisha El-Mekki, was a Muslim convert who moved her family to Iran because “she wanted her children to witness a country united in its efforts to make a change,” according to a biography published by the Philly Muslim Freedom Fund in 2020. The biography describes that she “loved” how former Ayatollah Khomeini “continuously stood up to the bully without any fear” and how “he called out the oppression of America and other superpowers.” Aisha El-Mekki met with Khomeini multiple times, according to the biography.

Sharif El-Mekki, in turn, has been praised by Nation of Islam leader and black nationalist Louis Farrakhan. In 2019, Farrakhan’s publication, TheFinal Call, profiled El-Mekki in a piece called “Leading with Equity and Justice in Education.” The Final Call has also quoted El-Mekki multiple times, referring to him as a “master educator.”

The Ayatollahs of Iran are exploiting legitimate issues of education and economics among the Black American poor to advance their destructive, Islamist agenda. They have taken that page out of the PLO/KGB handbook. Just as the PLO and Hamas are willing for Arab Palestinians to be slaughtered to achieve its goal of annihilating Israel, the Iranian regime is feigning concern for Black Americans to achieve its goal of destroying America.

When Iranian-backed Hamas committed its massacre in Israel on October 7th, 2023, the attackers included Iranian nationals. Among the 1,300 killed or abducted in Israel that day were two young agricultural students from Tanzania, Clemence Mtenga and Joshua Mollel. The Iranian-led terrorists didn’t just kill the two young Africans, they called them abeds (slaves) and mutilated their bodies. Sadly, we have Joshua Moellel’s death on video that the terrorists recorded. What the jihadists did to those African students is what the Iranian regime truly thinks of Black people. Their brutal deaths are a reminder of what is in store for Black Americans and Black Africans once they’ve served the Islamic regime’s purpose.

Israel’s fight against the Iranian regime is the free world’s fight. The Black American community is one of the main ideological battlegrounds in that fight. If we are to be victorious in that fight we must first understand it. That understanding begins with this: Everyone who claims to want to help you is not concerned about your well-being.

For nearly 50 years, the Iranian regime has proven itself to be a deadly entity determined to establish global Islamist rule and is willing to slaughter anyone to achieve that aim — Iranian, African, American, Israeli — anyone. There is little difference between the Nazi regime of the 20th century and the Iranian regime of today. Once that is understood, the battle becomes much clearer.

This week, Donald Trump became President-elect and the Democrats suffered one of their most resounding defeats in recent history, soon no longer in control of the House, Senate, or the White House. There is much handwringing, blame-projection, angst, and prophecies of doom and gloom as the DNC attempts to assess what went wrong. The answer to that question is multifaceted, but I will address the ultimate factor in the Democrats’ demise: Israel.

Providentially, the weekly Torah portion read by religious Jews around the world is Lech Lecha (Go out from here) in which God commands Abram to:

Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. (Genesis 12.1-3)

Especially since the Obama administrations of 2008 and 2016, the Democratic Party has become a far-left, pro-Palestinian terror, pro-Islamic Republic of Iran party. President Obama shunned the broader Arab-Sunni Muslim world and favored the Iranian regime as a new balance of power in the Middle East. Since 1979, the Iranian Ayatollahs have made no secret of their desire to obliterate Israel. This means that, via America’s political leaders, the United States is aligned with Israel’s enemies whom God promises to curse.

Numbers 24.9

[Israel] crouched, he lay down like a lion

and like a lioness; who will rouse him up?

Blessed are those who bless you,

and cursed are those who curse you.

Last week, the Washington Free Beacon reported on Democratic lawmakers colluding with Columbia University to cover up the school’s rampant antisemitism and blatant persecution of Jewish students. From the article:

Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) quietly advised Columbia University's leaders to "keep heads down" and ignore congressional criticism of the school's handling of campus anti-Semitism, telling former university president Minouche Shafik that the school's "political problems are really only among Republicans," according to a new House Committee on Education and the Workforce report.

The committee's 300-page report stems from more than a year of interviews and over 400,000 pages of internal documents produced by elite schools like Columbia, Harvard University, Yale University, Northwestern University, and the University of California, Los Angeles. It demonstrates, by producing the private emails and text messages of university leaders, how they failed to protect Jewish students as anti-Semitic mobs seized their campuses in the wake of Hamas's Oct. 7 terror spree.

What Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer is doing is what the bible refers to as “consulting” with Israel’s enemies:

Psalm 83.1-5

¹ O God, do not keep silence;
    do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
² For behold, your enemies make an uproar;
    those who hate you have raised their heads.
³ They lay crafty plans against your people;
    they consult together against your treasured ones.
⁴ They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation;
    let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”
⁵ For they conspire with one accord;
    against you they make a covenant—

It has been widely reported that Democrat top donors are among those funding the Hamas protests across the country. When Harvard law professor, lifelong Democrat, and longtime Israel advocate Alan Dershowitz said “Israel is no longer a bipartisan issue,” he no doubt had issues like college campus antisemitism in mind.

Throughout the 3,500-year history of the Hebrew people, God has repeatedly confirmed that He will deal with individuals and nations who come against Israel and that He will favor those who do good to Israel. Jews and Christians knowledgeable of U.S. history and scripture understand that this is why America is the strongest most prosperous nation in the history of the world. From President George Washington’s letter to the Hebrew Congregation of Rhode Island to President Harry Truman making America the first nation to recognize the independent Jewish state, America’s track record is long and consistent. Today, as antisemitism and Israel hatred in America grow, that track record is being threatened — as is our nation.

Psalm 124

1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side—

let Israel now say—

2 if it had not been the Lord who was on our side

when people rose up against us,

3 then they would have swallowed us up alive,

when their anger was kindled against us;

4 then the flood would have swept us away,

the torrent would have gone over us;

5 then over us would have gone

the raging waters.

who has not given us

as prey to their teeth!

7 We have escaped like a bird

from the snare of the fowlers;

the snare is broken,

In the New Testament book of Acts chapter 15, Luke tells the story of the first Gentile to officially join the Jewish followers of Jesus. Cornelius was an officer in the Roman army who Luke describes as a righteous or “God-fearing” man. Through a prophetic dream, God tells Cornelius to reach out to Peter, the chief apostle. When Cornelius’ servants tell Peter about their boss, they say he is “a man highly regarded by the whole Jewish nation.” God chose a Gentile who favored the Jewish people to be the first to receive the Holy Spirit. When a Roman centurion wanted Jesus to heal his servant, he asked his Jewish friends to ask Jesus for him (the Book of Luke chapter 7). When the centurion’s friends spoke with Jesus, they said, “He really deserves to have you do this, for he loves our people — in fact, he built the synagogue for us!” Again, the bible tells us that one of the requisites for a non-Jew to receive a blessing from the God of Israel is for them to bless the children of Israel. In the Book of Romans, the Apostle Paul writes to Christians:

¹I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.

¹⁷ But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, ¹⁸ do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root (Israel), but the root that supports you. (Romans 11.1; 17-18)

This is why Christians should be the first and most vocal supporters of Israel and the Jewish people. It is also why Christians should be the most vigilant in correcting Jew hatred in our midst like Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson. Conservatives, Republicans, and American Christians must take heed as they watch the implosion of the DNC. Not only is the political right not immune to the DNC’s fate, there are warning signs that should have Republicans concerned. I discuss one of those signs in Episode 19 and Episode 20 of Truth to Power Live.

Throughout the Jewish prophets, we are told that, in the end times, the nations of the world will come against Israel. This will be one of the many signs of the coming of Messiah.

Joel 3.1-3

1 “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land, 3 and have cast lots for my people, and have traded a boy for a prostitute, and have sold a girl for wine and have drunk it.

There are growing forces in the United States that would have us join the doomed, anti-Israel effort. There is no national security for the nation that wars against Israel or attacks the Jewish people. One of the practical issues that brought the world the Abraham Accords between Israel and Arab nations was those Arab nations’ realization that 70+ years of fighting Israel was not only futile but self-defeating. The Arab and Islamic world expelling the nearly 1 million Jews from its lands after 1948 is one of the key factors in the region’s subsequent instability and economic turmoil. So, propping up the genocidal Iranian regime (which also wants to destroy the U.S.) is both foolish and dangerous.

One of the most beloved gospel songs in the historical Black church is Down by the Riverside. (I discuss the Zionism of Negro Spirituals and Gospel music in my book Zionism & the Black Church.) The song lyrics are:

Down by the Riverside is based on the words of the prophet Isaiah.

Isaiah 2.2-4

² It shall come to pass in the latter days
    that the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
    and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and all the nations shall flow to it,
³     and many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
    to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
    and that we may walk in his paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
    and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

The God of Israel will defend Israel from all of its enemies, and will ultimately destroy those enemies. Messiah will then reign from Jerusalem and bring world peace by teaching Torah to the nations. This is what the Bible teaches. There is no future for those who hate Israel — individuals or nations. And for those who say, “I don’t believe in the Bible” or “I don’t believe in the God of Israel” I say truth is not made truth by your affirmation. Pharaoh also initially told Moses, “I don’t know this God of the Hebrews” and continued the enslavement of the Hebrews. So, God introduced Himself to Pharaoh and the world and freed His people. The Jewish sages call this (Passover) the First Redemption, and the coming of Messiah the Last Redemption. And, just as the children of Israel sang the Song of Moses when God destroyed Pharaoh’s army in the Red Sea, the Book of Revelation says that song will be sung when Jesus (the Lamb) returns.

Revelation 15.2-4

2 And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. 3 And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

At a rally in Oakland County, Michigan last weekend, leaders of the Muslim community publicly endorsed Donald Trump for President of the United States. On stage at the rally, Imam Belal Alzuhairi declared:

“We as Muslims stand with President Trump because he promises peace…not war. We are supporting Donald Trump because he promised to end war in the Middle East and Ukraine. The bloodshed has to stop all over the world, and I think he can make that happen.”

Imam Alzuhari and other Muslim leaders like Mayor Amer Ghalib of Hamtramck have ties to the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the civil rights wing of Hamas. This is cause for great concern. However, there is a much more complex picture emerging that involves a diverse Muslim American populace with voter issues that have nothing to do with the Arab-Israeli conflict or an anti-American agenda. Two years ago, Muslim and Christian parents converged on a Dearborn Schoolboard meeting to protest the sexualization of their children as parental love and protection prove to be a unifying principle. Imam Belal Alzuhairi gave further insight:

We support Donald Trump for his commitment to promoting family values and protecting our children’s well-being especially when it comes to curriculum in schools. We believe he will be a President for all Americans embracing every race, color, and religion. We want a strong border and we agree that anyone who wants to is welcome, but he has to do that through legal pathway. We are with President Trump because we want a strong economy.

This latest development in the 2024 election was so unexpected that even President Obama is reeling.

In 2016, a victorious Trump received 17% of the Muslim vote. After four years of arguably the most pro-Israel, anti-Palestinian terror administration in US history, the Muslim vote for Donald Trump more than doubled to 35%. Why are Muslims in increasing numbers choosing the Republican candidate? And what could this mean for Israel’s peace and security, peace in the region, and rising antisemitism in the US and on US college campuses?

Of the many times the Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel (IBSI) has cited award-winning Arab Israeli journalist Khaled Abu Toameh, this quote from his 2009 article On Campus: The Pro-Palestinians' Real Agenda has been the most recurring.

What is happening on (U.S. college) campuses is not in the frame of freedom of speech. Instead, it is the freedom to disseminate hatred and violence. As such, we should not be surprised if the next generation of jihadists comes not from the Gaza Strip or the mountains and mosques of Pakistan and Afghanistan, but from university campuses across the U.S.

The fact that Toameh wrote this dire warning after visiting U.S. college campuses nearly two decades ago underscores how long our campuses have been training “the next generation of jihadists.” Toameh’s warning was a prelude to DePaul University Professor Jason Hill’s description of American colleges as “living, breathing national security threats.” While several factors contribute to the Red-Green (Communist-Islamist) Alliance dominating America’s education system, no single entity represents the Green more than the Muslim Brotherhood.

In chapter four of my book Zionism & the Black Church, I introduce the Muslim Brotherhood in this way:

…in 1929 was the Hebron Massacre. Arabs rioted and killed some sixty Jewish men, women, and children in Hebron as well as over forty in Jerusalem. It was the worst violence perpetrated on the Jews of Palestine (historic Israel) since the 19^th century, further emphasizing the need for a sovereign Jewish homeland. This violence was spurred in large part by the Muslim Brotherhood, founded in Egypt in 1928. [In his book ‘In Ishmael’s House’, author Sir Martin Gilbert states]:

“A populist movement with a strong Islamic fundamentalist message, the Muslim Brotherhood stirred up hatred not only against Zionism as a political and national movement, but against Jews as bearers of an alien and destructive religion and ideology. Its very first topic for debate was ‘The Subject of Palestine and the necessity of Jihad.’”

In 2013, Egypt (the birthplace of the Muslim Brotherhood) designated the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. In 2014, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) — one of the charter members of the Abraham Accords of Arab states and Israel — did the same. Yet, the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates operate freely in the United States including our government as well as in colleges and universities, even receiving 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, and very few ever address it — including the vast majority of Israel advocates. Ironically, while the Arab world was removing the Muslim Brotherhood, the Obama administration was placing its surrogates in the highest levels of government and law enforcement.

At least six American Islamist activists who work closely with the Obama administration are Muslim Brotherhood operatives who enjoy strong influence over U.S. policy, according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism and the Center for Security Policy in Washington.

Let's start with Mohamed Elibiary, a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council who has met with national security staff inside the White House. He raises perhaps the most alarms.

Elibiary has been accused of "downloading sensitive material from law enforcement databases," according to the Investigative Project. Last month, he tweeted: "I do consider the United States of America an Islamic country with an Islamically compliant constitution.”

Not only has legitimizing and venerating Islamism had disastrous effects on America and America’s relationship with Israel, but it has also contributed to America ignoring global religious persecution at the hands of Islamist oppressors

Continuing from Muslim Brotherhood Infiltrates Obama Administration (2013):

In October, Elibiary blamed persecuted Coptic Christians for inciting violence in Egypt, claiming in a series of offensive tweets that their raising awareness of atrocities they've suffered promotes "Islamophobic" bigotry and anger by Muslims.

In 1991, the Muslim Brotherhood published its plan to assert Islamist control of the United States. Lebanese Christian Brigitte Gabriel was among the first Americans to explain the details of this plan and the many organizations connected to the Muslim Brotherhood. Prominent among those organizations is CAIR — Council on American-Islamic Relations, formed in 1994. CAIR is the civil rights wing of Hamas which, until recently, ruled Gaza. Hamas is the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.

From Africa-Israel Weekly’s Psychological Compromise:

Just six days after 9/11, then-President George W. Bush visited the Islamic Centre in Washington D.C., and gave a speech. In short, the speech was about hatred of Muslims not being tolerated, and Islam being a “religion of peace” and unity for people all over the world. This was and is still praised as being a gesture of goodwill; and no doubt, this came about after the administration received pressure from…(CAIR). If you watch the video, you’ll see the gentleman standing behind President Bush on the right side is the Executive Director of CAIR, Nihad Awad.

It’s becoming less and less of a secret how much CAIR covers for global terror while claiming to be a civil rights organization…But what we do know about Nihad Awad is…immediately following Hamas’s brutal raping, torturing, killing, and kidnapping on October 7th (which is now considered Israel’s 9/11), Nihad Awad expressed joy. Awad said he was happy about October 7th. When pressed, he doubled down.

Anti-Israel student groups like Students for Justice and Palestine (SJP) and the Muslim Students Association (MSA) have ties to Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood leaders or sympathizers. Earlier this year, IBSI produced an educational video entitled Why Hamas & the Muslim Brotherhood are allowed on US College Campuses. The nearly eight-minute video can be summarized in one word: Money.

The IBSI video explains that the State of Qatar is a haven for the leaders of Hamas as well as an ally of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the world’s No. 1 state sponsor of global terrorism. Qatar is also a quasi-ally of the United States and hosts the only U.S. Middle East airbase in the capital of Doha. Listed as the 5th wealthiest country in the world, Qatar is among the foreign bad actors that use its wealth to drive a Muslim Brotherhood agenda forward in the United States (and around the world). The Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) released the report Networks of Hate earlier this year.

ISGAP’s Follow The Money project previous reports have laid out the following:

• Qatar is the largest foreign donor to U.S. universities

• The Muslim Brotherhood’s Islamist ideology is intertwined with the State and furthermore the links that Qatar has with the Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestinian Chapter – Hamas

• The fact that money coming from foreign states such as Qatar is having a direct effect on increasing antisemitism and anti-democratic/activity

This report lays out the way that Qatar is operating a war-chest with between $500 Billion – $1 Trillion USD of assets and growing, to affect soft power in the west – including the U.S.’ prestigious universities.

After October 7th, 2023, anti-Israel protests and violence erupted on U.S. college campuses like never before In addition to Qatari funding, these Hamas-supporting demonstrations on campus are also sponsored by Democrat Party donors including George Soros. Jewish students and professors have been assaulted, terrorized, and threatened with murder. Arguably, no college campus has been more lethal than Columbia University. But as we’ve stated, the anti-Israel, antisemitic state of U.S. colleges has been known for decades, especially Columbia.

In 2004, IBSI coalition partner Dr. Charles Jacobs, and his team produced a documentary about Columbia University professors’ aggressive anti-Israel indoctrination. The film is linked here and entitled Columbia Unbecoming. Once completed, it was presented to a large group of pro-Israel organization leaders from all over the country. [Dr. Jacobs] expressed his frustration as each of them refused to share the documentary.

“:With this film we tried to warn everyone what was coming. It was a smallish problem then. If you nip cancer in the bud, you might cure it, but if let to metastasize you have what we now face on American campuses - a tsunami of Jew-hate, well organized and well funded that is fast becoming to dominate campus culture.

“Back then the problem was the radical professors who intimidated and harassed Jewish students. Now it’s the entire left-wing student groups on campus plus the Arab and Muslim students plus all money that Arab and Muslim regimes donate to American universities that do not have to be publicly disclosed.”

[Dr. Jacobs] continued:

“We showed this film to Jewish leaders across the country and they fled. They wanted no conflict. They were fat and happy, and also on the left. I mean we met with the top Jewish leaders and they dismissed us. Now some of them wish they had paid attention and developed a strategy to fight back.”

As long as terrorist-affiliated anti-Israel groups are permitted to operate on US college campuses, no pro-Israel student group will ever be effective at combatting the antisemitism and Islamist propaganda in academia. Those pro-Israel student groups will only (inadvertently) make matters worse by lionizing the young people who serve as mouthpieces for Hamas and other Islamic terrorists.

Earlier this month, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) killed October 7th Hamas mastermind, Yahya Sinwar. Along with routing Hezbollah leadership in Lebanon, Israel is well on its way to a complete military victory against Iranian regime proxies and Muslim Brotherhood jihadists. But the United States and the Western world are ideologically captured with Muslim Brotherhood operatives throughout society from academia to politics to national security to journalism. Israel is winning. The West is losing.

Over the past year since October 7th, there has been a flurry of activity by pro-Israel groups in the U.S. — Jewish and Christian. IBSI has attended many meetings across the country and has joined many initiatives that aim to raise awareness about the hatred for Israel and Jews (and hatred for America) on our campuses and throughout society. But, as well-meaning as these initiatives are, we have seen and heard nothing in the way of a proactive, viable strategy to defeat a decades-long movement to destroy America; a movement that has been enormously successful and is only gaining momentum. No pro-Israel organization will be able to turn this tide. This effort to save our country while defending its relationship with our greatest friend in the Middle East must come out of the White House. Should President Trump retake the Oval Office after the November 5th election, he must establish a task force. If Vice President Harris (who shares President Obama’s vision of Islamist appeasement) wins the election, this effort to save our country must still go forward. It will just be even more difficult to accomplish.

Racism, racial discrimination, and xenophobia are real issues with devastating impacts and severe consequences that deserve earnest and committed actions from the United Nations, its member states, non-government organizations, and religious and civil society. However, on multiple occasions in recent decades, the UN has committed itself to enabling acts of racism - from inflammatory propaganda to international legal lawfare – against the Jews, a group of people who comprise only 0.2% of the world’s population. Arguably the most significant of the UN’s actions in this regard was the Durban Declaration and Program of Action at the 2001 Durban Conference (Durban I). The Program of Action by the NGO Forum called Israel a “racist, apartheid state” that committed acts of genocide and practiced ethnic cleansing. The direct effect of these absurd lies has been a steady increase in Jew-hatred worldwide.
