That’s up to you! The course is broken down into manageable, bitesize lessons that you can take at a pace that suits you. It includes eleven succinct videos, from 3 to 13 minutes long (we don’t include the boring bits!), plus extra written tuition and downloadable checklists. You may like to spread the lessons out over ten evenings, or set aside a weekend for a binge sewing session.

There’s no deadline, so you can fit it around your other commitments. And you can go back to the lessons any time you get stuck or feel like a refresher.

Nope, you can go as fast or as slow as you like, and come back to the lessons whenever you want. Just log in to the site anytime you feel like a sewing fix!

We can’t promise “lifetime access”, you know, in case of a digital apocalypse or something, but we don’t plan to take the content down any time soon. If for any reason we do decide to take the workshop down in the future, we’ll give you a few months’ notice, so you’ll have plenty of time to finish it.

If you haven’t used a sewing machine before, you’ll need to take our Make Friends with a Sewing Machine workshop first to get yourself comfortable with threading and basic stitching. We have a bundle offer, giving you access to both courses for a discount if you buy them together – scroll to the bottom right of the page if you want to register for the bundle.

You’d be very welcome to! The workshop may cover similar content – from choosing your size and cutting fabric, to finishing seams and hemming – so it’s a helpful resource you can refer back to at home if you want a refresher. You’ll also get the Dominique skirt sewing pattern, which you can make multiple times in different variations.

This is a structured programme, developed by someone with over a decade’s experience designing training courses. It takes you step-by-step through how to get started making your own clothes, when you don’t necessarily know what you need to know.

The course has been developed based on tried-n-tested workshops that we have run multiple times in London. It’s like attending a sewing class, but it’s cheaper and you can do it from home!

The pattern includes eight sizes – from a UK 6 to 20. Take a look at our measurements chart. If you need a bigger size, we’ll show you an easy way of making the pattern larger in the workshop.

There’s a discussion area in many of the lessons, where you can ask questions, share photos of your sewing, and chat to other enthusiastic stitchers. We’ll drop in every so often to answer questions and join in the discussion. If you’re having a technical issue accessing the class, you can email us and we’ll be happy to help.
