This update sets the default web control theme to a new, more modern theme.

RAD PDF 4.0's Modern ThemeDon't worry, even though RAD PDF 4.0 features a number of changes, our Classic interface can be easily displayed using the Theme="Classic" property. All other existing features are fully compatible with this new major version.

As always, we minimized the breaking changes (spoiler: there aren't any, besides the new default Theme), we improved security, and we adapted RAD PDF for the latest browser versions.

Newly added themes are color neutral; they seamlessly integrate the latest features with the new interface.

This version improves PDF repairing, allowing RAD PDF to open even damaged PDF files. New API properties allow the RAD PDF interface to be additionally customized, exposing advanced features like automatic path merging and more.

Of course, this release also includes a number of bug fixes and other minor improvements.

Today, Red Software publishes RAD PDF 3.49, its web-based GUI / WebControl for PDF viewing, PDF editing, PDF form filling, PDF redacting, PDF signing and more! RAD PDF works with virtually EVERY .NET Core or .NET Framework web application type including Angular, Blazor, Razor, React, MVC, WebForms, and more, making PDF-webapp integration easier than ever.

Primarily, this release includes integration improvements like a new option to set the HttpHandlerPath. This allows for requests to be sent to a custom path for HTTP requests (instead of the default "RadPdf.axd").

A critical update, version 3.49 also includes a fix for a buffer overflow vulnerability in the ASCII85 decoder being used. We highly recommend all customers update to this latest version as soon as possible/

Along with minor bug fixes, this release continues to improve the most widely compatible PDF editing solution for ASP.NET. This version is compatible with Windows Server 2025 and SQL Server 2025.

PDF Annotations in RAD PDF

This new version adds support for squiggly annotation objects. These annotations, similar to underline annotations, can be used to mark up PDF text. Like other PDF annotations in RAD PDF, the PdfSquigglyAnnotation class allows for client side and server side access and application integration.

This release extends NuGet support for ARM, improves security when rendering PDF files at client, and fixes a few minor bugs.

Today, Red Software updates RAD PDF, a drop-in-ready ASP.NET (3.5 / 4.x / Core / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9) web component & GUI for editing, form filling, redacting (experimental), signing, and reading PDF files online. This version includes support for PDF file annotations, widgets on PDF files (often displayed as a paperclip) which link to an attached embedded file. These same embedded files also show up in the list embedded files in the new side panel added in RAD PDF 3.46.

Additionally, this RAD PDF release fixes a few minor bugs and adds a new Server API features, enabling programmatic access to embedded files and file annotations.

Red Software is excited to announce RAD PDF 3.43, the newest release of its ASP.NET GUI / WebControl for PDF viewing, PDF form filling, PDF editing, PDF redaction, PDF signing, securing PDF content, and more. CspSaferRendering now also disables direct execution of PDF JavaScript, making it easier than ever for your RAD PDF implementation to comply with you Content Security Policy. Even with PDF JavaScript disabled (e.g. CspSaferRendering or DisablePdfJavaScript is true), RAD PDF can still parse the most common calculation and formatting scripts, safely computing them without direct JavaScript execution!

Free Text Annotations can now be added by the GUI, Client API and Server API. These annotations are often used for user editable "Typewriter" style text, etc.

This update also includes RAD PDF System Service improvements. The default memory footprint of the service has been reduced. It now also supports multiple reads of the same object from disk concurrently.

This new version includes a number of important bug fixes, including errors related to annotation opacity and redaction.

Today, Red Software publishes RAD PDF 3.42, its web-based GUI / WebControl for PDF editing, PDF form filling, PDF reading, PDF redacting, PDF signing and more! Now, more ready for the modern web, this release includes client side code refactoring to eliminate eval / inline JavaScript and styles using the new PdfWebControl.CspSaferRendering / PdfWebControlLite.CspSaferRendering property. This allows easier compliance with a website Content Security Policy (CSP) or other code security requirements.

This new version also addresses a number of bugs, primarily fixing issues involving advanced PdfLiteSession usage.

Red Software is proud to announce RAD PDF 3.41, the newest version of its ASP.NET WebControl for PDF viewing, form filling, editing, redacting, signing, protecting, and more. Integrating PDF files and forms into any ASP.NET website has never been easier. With numerous mobile improvements, RAD PDF continues to be one of the most widely compatible PDF solutions. On touch devices, long press (e.g. press and hold) can be used to activate the PDF editing context menu / right click menu.

Additionally, this new release allows for new object upload customizations / integrations. The ObjectDataAddingEventArgs.Data property is now settable, enabling server side image processing of uploaded content (e.g. resizing, watermarks, etc). It also includes a new ObjectDataAddingEventArgs.ApplyExifOrientation property, allowing for RAD PDF to process the EXIF (Exchangeable image file format) tags of an image, specifically the orientation. If ApplyExifOrientation is set to true, the encoded orientation will also be the default image orientation on screen for a user. In many cases, this may be more what is "expected".
