9th Annual Vikes Championship Breakfast event to be held on September 27, 2016 at 7:00am in the CARSA Performance Gym.
By purchasing a ticket, table or combination thereof, you are helping to ensure that our Vikes Athletics program will continue to achieve at the highest level amongst Canadian universities by providing much needed financial support to our deserving student-athletes and equipping our coaching staff with the scholarship resources to recruit the next generation of high performing Vikes. In the highly competitive recruiting world, scholarships remain a significant factor for prospective student-athletes in choosing their post-secondary destinations and the Vikes Championship Breakfast has assisted us greatly in remaining a leading post-secondary athletic program.
Once again, the University of Victoria has agreed to match the first $200,000 raised in support of the Vikes Championship Breakfast. To date, through the generous contributions of our supporters and the UVic match, we have raised just over $3.3 million. I can assure you that this support has made a major impact on our student-athletes realizing competitive and academic success while also ensuring a strong commitment to our community.
We are pleased to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Ms. Nancy Mollenhauer, a two-time Olympian with the Canadian women’s field hockey team and a member of the Field Hockey Canada Hall of Fame. Mollenhauer was a two-time CIAU Athlete of the Year during her time with the Vikettes.

Would you like to improve your ability to read, think, and communicate critically? Get feedback on your pronunciation? Become more confident participating in challenging group discussions in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere?
The Academic Critical Communication in English Seminar Series is an opportunity for all UVic students with English as an additional language who want to improve their ability to communicate in English within an academic context. Participants will complete a short reading and writing activity, receive coaching on vocabulary use and pronunciation, and get tips for developing confidence and ability in reading and writing. Each session focuses on a different topic or skill. Space is limited to 10, so sign up early! Drop in spaces may also be available. Join us for an introduction to the practices of sacred ecology.
Explore an emerging worldview that integrates the wisdom of spiritual traditions, science and systems theory, eco-psychology deep ecology and our own local skills and knowledge.
Contemplate your life as a weave becoming, within the living tapestry of a sacred universe, and awaken to mindful engagement with all that is. Engage in an ecologically sensitive spirituality for these times, and an emerging cosmological ethic that challenges us (on all levels of human-human and human-earth relationships) to live our lives with ecological integrity and deep respect for all.
Through experiential exercises, discussion, exploration of nature in the garden and other means, we will be engaging all parts of our selves: mind, body, emotions and spirit.
Drop in! No registration necessary.
Simply come and participate as we transform our awareness together.

Come join this discussion circle to explore the
teaching of Jesus of Nazareth, the spiritual master who stands at the fountainhead of western spirituality.
This is NOT a gathering designed to re-iterate a stereo-typed image of Jesus. Rather, we will focus on Jesus as a teacher of wisdom, of the perennial philosophy that is designed to transform consciousness from ego-centered awareness to the experience of the non-dual unity and inter-connectedness of all reality. Through various spiritual practices, we will explore whether this wisdom teaching is of any use to us: Does it lead to happiness? Does it help me figure my life s purpose? Does it lead to compassion? Does it lead to higher consciousness? Does it awaken me to mindfulness of the sacred reality of the cosmos?
We will discuss the insights offered by Cynthia Bourgeault, Contemplative Teacher, through video presentations, readings from her books, and instructions for hands-on contemplative practices. You will learn contemplative ways of being in the world, drawing deeply upon the radical wisdom of the spirituality of Jesus.
