I've previously stayed in Sliema, which was quite lively (for Malta), and the more quiet Mellieha. I liked Melliieha as we stayed when the fiesta week was on (this year its on the 8th Sept), but in the week before they had marching bands every night through the streets of the town and a procession when they carried big wooded sculptures from the church around the town, followed by a big firework display.
