Friday's Fave Five

Dear Journal,

Today I am joining Susanne and others at To Tell the Story to share at least five blessings from the week.  It has been a very rich week in memory making so I am certain I'll have no trouble coming up with five blessings from the week.

Doctor appointment ~ Our primary care physician that we'd had for several years left our area and went somewhere else.  I chose to stay at the same practice and switch to the Nurse Practitioner that now owns the practice.  I am so glad that I did.  I had my second appointment with her on Tuesday and she rejoiced with me that all of my blood work came back really good.  When I saw her in July she'd taken me off two medications that she felt I really did not need to be taking.  She rejoiced with me Tuesday that it has proved to be a good call on her part.  I rejoice in my body being back to a much more normal level...kind of in touch with itself if you know what I mean.

Time spent with an aunt ~ Wednesday we visited with an aunt of Strong Heart's.  She is the last of Dad's siblings still alive.  We surprised her with the visit and she was delighted.  We found out that she had surgery recently to have a lump removed and the doctor seemed confident that he got everything.  He had also removed one of the lymph nodes and it came back clean.  Being with this aunt brought back so many memories of times with Dad and her together.

Time spent with my sister-in-law ~ Wednesday was a day full of memories as we met one of Strong Heart's sisters at the cemetery where my mother-in-law and father-in-law are buried so that we could decorate their graves together.  She also accompanied us to visit with the aunt that I mentioned above.  This is the sister-in-law who lost her husband from a heart attack back in March of this year.  After we visited with the aunt we went back to the small town where Strong Heart and I raised our family and had lunch at a Christian restaurant.  The food is always delicious there and we visited for about two hours while we had a leisurely lunch.  ALWAYS good to spend time with loved ones.

Back to blogging ~ I'd taken a rather lengthy break from blogging.  There were health issues involved which required me to spend a good deal of the time I was a way to just rest and enjoy days of reading a good book or watching some good movies or working on Bible studies that I'd had for a while...and mostly staying away from the computer.  I was doing some cleaning the other day and found several quotes that I'd saved from my reading but had never entered them into my quote journal.  As I was copying the one quote into the journal I thought how appropriate it was for this time of the year and I instinctively opened the blog and created a blog post with that quote only and a Christmas picture of Tasha Tudo.  My heart was indeed warmed by the responses from readers.  I doubt that I'll post much on a regular basis until after the first of the year, but it was fun to dip my toe back into the water so to speak.  I was inspired then to join in here at Susanne's.

A visit from College Guy ~ Our grandson, aka College Guy, was here for overnight last night on his way home for Christmas break.  Our home is about halfway between where he attends college and his parents home.  It makes for a long drive for him if he were to try to make the trip straight through to home, especially if he's had late classes.  He has I-95 and a major beltway around a major city on his parents end of the trip so we are always happy to have him.  We sent him on his way this morning after a good hearty breakfast and a lunch packed by Gramma.

I'll count a few more blessings...

In the quiet...

Dear Journal,

My posting has been so sporadic since returning from vacation...

I've decided to take a bit of time away from blogging in order to "collect" my thoughts.

May you enjoy God's richest blessings.
