2019 The Little Mermaid #art sketch series ‘OLLIE’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ For the alpha-prompt letter ‘O’, I’m using a character from the 1992 TV series I illustrated from sight (no tutorials), Ollie. Ollie is a purplish color octopus with spots on the side of his head. He’s close friends and interpreter to the deaf mermaid, Gabriella. He makes a grand total of two appearances in the series. There aren’t any ‘O’ characters in the first animated film or the sequel but there is one more from the TV show, Octopid who…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Artsketch Series ‘NEPTUNE’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ Today’s letter ‘N’ prompt, I used a character from the animated TV show, Neptune. Who is Neptune? Not knowing anything about the animated TV program I learned this character made only one episode appearance as a memory flashback from King Triton youth. Neptune is Triton’s grandfather. In my drawing based on the Fandom gallery photo, you’ll see the family resemblance between the Neptune and the future Sea King when he was just a merboy. Earlier in this series,…

Hit the dance floor with the #4M crew with ‘instruments that move you’ song picks in this double mewsic whomp! #BoTB
Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday! It’s the start of the third week of April with half of the month gone. Time sure flies when you’re having fun or too busy to keep track. I’m not sure which one applies to me. Today is gonna be a double feature post with 4M and BoTB. First things first and that’s to reveal this week’s theme suggested is by our honorary co-host “song where a particular instrument has moved you – whether it’s a favorite vocal sound, bass line, drumming/beats, piano, guitar solo, …’. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with this theme but luckily, AngelsWhisper2011…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Art sketch series ‘LOUIS’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ Today’s alphabet ‘L’ prompt, I going with Prince Eric’s chef, Louis. Hopefully, you can see the similarity between my illustrated version and the film character from my sight seen attempt. Louis reminds me a lot of Lumiere from the 1991 Beauty and the Beast animated film but the voice-over actor, René Auberjonois, did not do that character. In The Little Mermaid animated flick, Louis is introduced singing while trying to make Sebastian part of the dinner menu. Don’t get…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Art sketch Series ‘KING’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ I didn’t need any kicks to the head to know wanted I wanted to sketch for today’s letter prompt, ‘K’. Using these easy steps, I drew Ariel’s father, the Sea KING of Atlantica! Like all fathers, the King is overprotective of his daughter. He’s adamant with his rule and prejudice of the human world forbidding any interaction with between the underwater kingdom and those barbaric land creatures. Naturally, a father with a stand like this is only going to cause a curious…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Artsketch Series ‘JETSOM’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ In all fairy tales, there’s always a villain or two or three. I decided to draw (sight only) today’s pair of slippery wicked eels Flotsom & JETSOM. This shady twosome isn’t one of my finer artist endeavors but I persevered through it anyhow coming up with a mediocre drawing. Another time, I will tackle (on paper of course) these two wicked creatures again. 🙂 I never knew how to tell one eel from the other. According to the Disney Fandom…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Artsketch Series ‘Intertidal Zone’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ Today’s alphabet letter ‘I’ left me scratching my head. As for characters in the animated movies and TV series, there aren’t any ‘I’ illustration possibilities which left me to my imagination. I told you, initially I might have to think outside the sandbox on this one theme because of the lack of representations for the alphabet. Using the ocean vocabulary list I found intertidal zone as an intriguing subject which immediately sparked my memory of the purrfect scene to…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Artsketch Series ‘Hammerhead Shark’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ Today’s illustration is that of the hammerhead shark from the second feature animated Little Mermaid film, Return to the Seas. The inspiration for the hammerhead came from Glut the shark in the first film. You may recall the scary scene where Ariel and Flounder are chased by the mean Great White until he’s outwitted by the little princess taking him through a wreck ship porthole where he gets stuck. My next image is the same as above, except I…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Artsketch Series ‘Grimsby’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ In keeping with the original animated movie, I had two choices for today’s alpha-prompt ‘G’ either Glut the shark that chased Ariel and Flounder through the sea or Eric’s trusty manservant, Grimsby. I went with the later. Grimsby’s role appears to be one of advisory to the young Prince, as well as managing his time appointments, wedding coordinator, … The stiff neck manservant appears in the two animated films but only one TV episode. I found it interesting the…

‘Part of Your World’ #BoTB results with ‘your choice mewsic picks’ on the 4M dance floor!
Week one of the 10th anniversary A to Z Challenge went well. Despite having my posts done ahead, I found it difficult some days to keep on top of things, especially while maintaining my mewsic hops and house hunting. I will survive, though. In case you missed anything this week, just look under Latest Mews in my side menu and you’ll find the past ten posts. ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ Before I get into bloggy things this morning, let me give y’all an update on our sweet dance partner & BoTBer, Michele from Angels Bark. I reached out to her…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Artsketch Series ‘FLOUNDER’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. If you missed previous posts in The Little Mermaid Artsketch series you can find them easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ Today’s illustration, I used a step by step instructions to draw the Little Mermaid’s best friend, Flounder. Flounder is both animated movies and the TV series. Unlike Ariel, Flounder isn’t a risk taker and rather shies away from uncharted territory. He tries to be the voice of reason for Ariel which often goes unheeded. Offering two images for display one with and one without color is time-consuming. For right now, I’m going to have to stay on course…

2019 The Little Mermaid #Artsketch Series ‘ERIC’ #AtoZChallenge
Thanks for joining in today. Before I continue, I wanted to share that yesterday evening I added a second post, Dudley in living color. I’m not sure what’s the best way to get the word out there. Perhaps, you have a suggestion, if so feel free to offer your thoughts in comments. You can find all previous A2Z links in my Little Mermaid Art sketch series easily under Latest Mews in my side menu. ☞ ☞ ☞ Okay, moving right along to today’s illustration – Prince Eric. To transfer my pencil drawings to the computer, I use my iPhone camera to photograph and then upload the file. Unfortunately, the lighting balance in…

UPDATE: 2019 The Little Mermaid #art sketch series ‘Dudley’ in living color! #AtoZChallenge
Earlier today, I shared my pencil drawing of Dudley from the Little Mermaid TV show and I promised when I added color to my illustration that I’d share it with you. Well, the time has arrived. I got busy last night and finished up not long ago. I used a sepia color Sakura Micron (003) pen to outline my image before applying color with my Prismacolor pencils and for a finishing touch, I took a piece of Kleenex tissue to smooth the colors. I got a little bleeding where I didn’t want but there’s nothing I can do about that now except to learn from the process. The next two…
