This exhibition, the first solo show in the United States, revisits three decades of practice, from 1963 until 1994, showcasing nine built and unbuilt projects. The exhibition’s centerpiece is the fabrication of nine scale models produced by members of Fundación Espacio in Caracas and FIU’s architecture students. Additionally, the gallery will show digital drawings of the projects and photographs of the buildings.

Through archival materials, this installation aims to present glimpses of the humanistic aspects of the Tenreiros’ life and practice, as their passion for architecture, philosophy, education, music, and poetry.

Rafael Urbina and the curatorial team present a brief timeline showcasing scanned hand drawings, sketches, and notes. The timeline shows the slow design process, its overlaps between commissions and competitions, the educated practice filled with references, and the spiritual life of Jesús and Ana Tenreiro.

Through this installation, the Department recognizes the effort, dedication, and success of our FIU students and faculty in achieving these honors.

Their research has resulted in works that explore temporal and spatial dimensions, crossing cultural and national boundaries toward more global perspectives. This exhibition marks a significant step in their artistic inquiry and professional journey.

"Unravelling Uniformity" is an exhibition featuring the diverse range of works by seven students from Florida International University's MFA program. Each artist employs a unique medium to delve into the complex themes of memory, place, and identity. Through their varied artistic expressions, the exhibition challenges the notion of uniformity, inviting viewers to explore the intricate layers of personal and collective experiences. This showcase not only highlights the individual creativity of each student but also offers a rich tapestry of perspectives that provoke thought and inspire dialogue.

Participating artists include FIU Alumna Karla Kantorovich, Nicole Burko, Yanira Collado, Regina Jestrow, Jamilah Sabur, Bruno Castro Santos, Jenene Nagy, and Gerbi Tsesarskaia. ON VIEW NOVEMBER 16, 2024—FEBRUARY 2025, ALL GALLERIES

Stratification is the horizontal layering of materials like rocks, soil, or ice, occurring through the settling of particles, glacial melting, or the slumping of material. Similar to the geologic process, urban stratification involves the evolution of cities, where new buildings are constructed over existing ones, as seen in Rome, where ancient ruins lie beneath modern developments. This concept is also present in economic stratification where society is divided into social classes based on economic status, affecting social relationships and power dynamics.

After visiting several geological landmarks along the American West, the evidence of time through millions of years of layers is quite unfathomable. There is a darkness that comes with the knowledge that all that exists will crumble into one of these layers with time. This stratification of everything was the thinking that led to the impetus for Stratified Gestures. Not just the gestures of mark-making and layer-building in art that mirror nature, but those actions we impose on the layers of strata in nature, the built environment, and the human systems we develop.

Stratified Gestures follows a thread of thinking connecting the work in the exhibition not just to the process of making strata by building layers on a surface, but also the themes of natural, urban, and systematic stratification putting all the work in a visual and conceptual conversation. Through documentation photos, painting, geometry, collage, ceramic, and other mix media, the landscape experienced throughout the American West, once part of an ancient sea, is recreated within the gallery walls, reminding us how time will lead us to the same end every time—humbling us with every layer.

TRB’s volunteer technical committees organize the sessions and workshops at the Annual Meeting. They also hold committee meetings throughout the week of the meeting, and most of them are open to the public. This showcase not only highlights the individual creativity of each student but also offers a rich tapestry of perspectives that provoke thought and inspire dialogue.

Through archival materials, this installation aims to present glimpses of the humanistic aspects of the Tenreiros’ life and practice, as their passion for architecture, philosophy, education, music, and poetry.

Rafael Urbina and the curatorial team present a brief timeline showcasing scanned hand drawings, sketches, and notes. The timeline shows the slow design process, its overlaps between commissions and competitions, the educated practice filled with references, and the spiritual life of Jesús and Ana Tenreiro.

Dimensions Variable (DV) is pleased to present Stratified Gestures, a group exhibition throughout all the galleries. Participating artists include FIU Alumna Karla Kantorovich, Nicole Burko, Yanira Collado, Regina Jestrow, Jamilah Sabur, Bruno Castro Santos, Jenene Nagy, and Gerbi Tsesarskaia. Curated by Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova. The exhibition opens on November 16, 2024, 6—9 pm.

ON VIEW NOVEMBER 16, 2024—FEBRUARY 2025, ALL GALLERIES

Stratification is the horizontal layering of materials like rocks, soil, or ice, occurring through the settling of particles, glacial melting, or the slumping of material. Similar to the geologic process, urban stratification involves the evolution of cities, where new buildings are constructed over existing ones, as seen in Rome, where ancient ruins lie beneath modern developments. This concept is also present in economic stratification where society is divided into social classes based on economic status, affecting social relationships and power dynamics.

After visiting several geological landmarks along the American West, the evidence of time through millions of years of layers is quite unfathomable. There is a darkness that comes with the knowledge that all that exists will crumble into one of these layers with time. This stratification of everything was the thinking that led to the impetus for Stratified Gestures. Not just the gestures of mark-making and layer-building in art that mirror nature, but those actions we impose on the layers of strata in nature, the built environment, and the human systems we develop.

Stratified Gestures follows a thread of thinking connecting the work in the exhibition not just to the process of making strata by building layers on a surface, but also the themes of natural, urban, and systematic stratification putting all the work in a visual and conceptual conversation. Through documentation photos, painting, geometry, collage, ceramic, and other mix media, the landscape experienced throughout the American West, once part of an ancient sea, is recreated within the gallery walls, reminding us how time will lead us to the same end every time—humbling us with every layer.

Dimensions Variable (DV) is pleased to present Stratified Gestures, a group exhibition throughout all the galleries. Participating artists include FIU Alumna Karla Kantorovich, Nicole Burko, Yanira Collado, Regina Jestrow, Jamilah Sabur, Bruno Castro Santos, Jenene Nagy, and Gerbi Tsesarskaia. Curated by Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova. The exhibition opens on November 16, 2024, 6—9 pm.

Stratification is the horizontal layering of materials like rocks, soil, or ice, occurring through the settling of particles, glacial melting, or the slumping of material. Similar to the geologic process, urban stratification involves the evolution of cities, where new buildings are constructed over existing ones, as seen in Rome, where ancient ruins lie beneath modern developments. This concept is also present in economic stratification where society is divided into social classes based on economic status, affecting social relationships and power dynamics.

After visiting several geological landmarks along the American West, the evidence of time through millions of years of layers is quite unfathomable. There is a darkness that comes with the knowledge that all that exists will crumble into one of these layers with time. This stratification of everything was the thinking that led to the impetus for Stratified Gestures. Not just the gestures of mark-making and layer-building in art that mirror nature, but those actions we impose on the layers of strata in nature, the built environment, and the human systems we develop.

Stratified Gestures follows a thread of thinking connecting the work in the exhibition not just to the process of making strata by building layers on a surface, but also the themes of natural, urban, and systematic stratification putting all the work in a visual and conceptual conversation. Through documentation photos, painting, geometry, collage, ceramic, and other mix media, the landscape experienced throughout the American West, once part of an ancient sea, is recreated within the gallery walls, reminding us how time will lead us to the same end every time—humbling us with every layer.

This exhibition, the first solo show in the United States, revisits three decades of practice, from 1963 until 1994, showcasing nine built and unbuilt projects. The exhibition’s centerpiece is the fabrication of nine scale models produced by members of Fundación Espacio in Caracas and FIU’s architecture students. Additionally, the gallery will show digital drawings of the projects and photographs of the buildings.

Through archival materials, this installation aims to present glimpses of the humanistic aspects of the Tenreiros’ life and practice, as their passion for architecture, philosophy, education, music, and poetry.

Rafael Urbina and the curatorial team present a brief timeline showcasing scanned hand drawings, sketches, and notes. The timeline shows the slow design process, its overlaps between commissions and competitions, the educated practice filled with references, and the spiritual life of Jesús and Ana Tenreiro.

All participants will gather in a central room.Brief welcome remarks by FIU Law Review, highlighting the purpose and goals of the workshop.Introduction of the three participating professors and a quick overview of their seminar themes to help students choose the breakout session that aligns best with their interests.Breakout Sessions (12:10 PM - 12:50 PM)

Students will break into three smaller groups, each led by one of the participating professors (e.g., Professors Mirow, Carpenter, and Kotey).Each breakout session will be held in a separate classroom to create an intimate, focused environment for brainstorming.Professors will guide students in refining their research topics, addressing challenges, and fostering discussion among peers.

Stratification is the horizontal layering of materials like rocks, soil, or ice, occurring through the settling of particles, glacial melting, or the slumping of material. Similar to the geologic process, urban stratification involves the evolution of cities, where new buildings are constructed over existing ones, as seen in Rome, where ancient ruins lie beneath modern developments. This concept is also present in economic stratification where society is divided into social classes based on economic status, affecting social relationships and power dynamics.

After visiting several geological landmarks along the American West, the evidence of time through millions of years of layers is quite unfathomable. There is a darkness that comes with the knowledge that all that exists will crumble into one of these layers with time. This stratification of everything was the thinking that led to the impetus for Stratified Gestures. Not just the gestures of mark-making and layer-building in art that mirror nature, but those actions we impose on the layers of strata in nature, the built environment, and the human systems we develop.

Stratified Gestures follows a thread of thinking connecting the work in the exhibition not just to the process of making strata by building layers on a surface, but also the themes of natural, urban, and systematic stratification putting all the work in a visual and conceptual conversation. Through documentation photos, painting, geometry, collage, ceramic, and other mix media, the landscape experienced throughout the American West, once part of an ancient sea, is recreated within the gallery walls, reminding us how time will lead us to the same end every time—humbling us with every layer.

Named by The Economist as one of Twenty Living Polymaths, Hough was the first classical performer to be awarded a MacArthur Fellowship (2001). He was awarded Northwestern University’s 2008 Jean Gimbel Lane Prize in Piano, won the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award in 2010, and in 2016 was made an Honorary Member of RPS. In 2014 he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) and was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2022.

Since taking first prize at the 1983 Naumburg Competition in New York, Sir Stephen has appeared with most of the major European, Asian and American orchestras and plays recitals regularly in major halls and concert series around the world from London's Royal Festival Hall to New York’s Carnegie Hall. He has been a regular guest at festivals such as Aldeburgh, Aspen, Blossom, Edinburgh, La Roque d'Anthéron, Hollywood Bowl, Mostly Mozart, Salzburg, Tanglewood, Verbier, and the BBC Proms, where he has made 29 concerto appearances, including playing all of the works of Tchaikovsky for piano and orchestra, a series he later repeated with the Chicago Symphony.

Many of his catalogue of over 60 albums have garnered international prizes including the Deutsche Schallplattenpreis, Diapason d’Or, Monde de la Musique, several Grammy nominations, eight Gramophone Magazine Awards including ‘Record of the Year’ in 1996 and 2003, and the Gramophone ‘Gold Disc’ Award in 2008, which named his complete Saint-Saens Piano Concertos as the best recording of the past 30 years. His 2012 recording of the complete Chopin Waltzes received the Diapason d’Or de l’Annee, France’s most prestigious recording award. His 2005 live recording of the Rachmaninoff Piano Concertos was the fastest selling recording in Hyperion’s history, while his 1987 recording of the Hummel concertos remains Chandos’ best-selling disc to date.

Published by Josef Weinberger, Sir Stephen has composed works for orchestra, choir, chamber ensemble, organ, harpsichord and solo piano. He has been commissioned by the Takacs Quartet, the Cliburn, CMS Lincoln Center, the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, the Gilmore Foundation, The Genesis Foundation, the Walter W. Naumburg Foundation, London’s National Gallery, Wigmore Hall, Le Musée de Louvre and Musica Viva Australia among others.

A noted writer, Sir Stephen has contributed articles for The New York Times, the Guardian, The Times, Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine, and he wrote a blog for The Telegraph for seven years which became one of the most popular and influential forums for cultural discussion and for which he wrote over six hundred articles. He has published four books: The Bible as Prayer (Bloomsbury and Paulist Press, 2007); a novel: The Final Retreat (Sylph Editions, 2018); a book of essays: Rough Ideas: Reflections on Music and More (Faber & Faber and Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2019); and a memoir: Enough: Scenes from Childhood (Faber & Faber, 2023).

This exhibition, the first solo show in the United States, revisits three decades of practice, from 1963 until 1994, showcasing nine built and unbuilt projects. The exhibition’s centerpiece is the fabrication of nine scale models produced by members of Fundación Espacio in Caracas and FIU’s architecture students. Through archival materials, this installation aims to present glimpses of the humanistic aspects of the Tenreiros’ life and practice, as their passion for architecture, philosophy, education, music, and poetry.

Join us for an extraordinary evening of avant-garde music as we celebrate the 28th anniversary of the New Music Miami Festival (NMMF)!

Created by New York City and Boston-based soprano Corrine Byrne and trumpeter Andy Kozar, the Byrne:Kozar:Duo presents historically informed performances of Baroque music for natural trumpet and soprano and commissions new works for modern trumpet and soprano. They have been said to create 'an arresting symbiosis in their melding of voice and trumpet timbres' (Textura) and that the 'trumpet and voice seem to take on one another's qualities' (Bandcamp Daily).

As an individual, Corrine has been called a ‘celebrated singer’ (Broadway World) and 'a rising star' (Arts Westchester). In contrast, Andy has been named a 'star soloist' (TimeOutNY) and ‘polished and dynamic, with awe-inspiring playing’ (Baltimore Sun). Combining their strengths as performers and interpreters of early and modern music, the Byrne:Kozar:Duo has commissioned new works by composers including Reiko Futing, Paula Matthusen, David Smooke, Scott Worthington, and Scott Wollschleger.

As recording artists, they can be heard on a recent release of Scott Wollshleger's music on New Focus Recordings, named a Notable Recording of 2017 in The New Yorker. Recent appearances include performances at the Time:Spans Festival, Boston Early Music Festival, Lake George Music Festival, Divergent Studio at the Longy School of Music, NienteForte in New Orleans, and New Music Miami. They have also been heard on American Public Media's Performance Today and National Public Radio.

Participating artists include FIU Alumna Karla Kantorovich, Nicole Burko, Yanira Collado, Regina Jestrow, Jamilah Sabur, Bruno Castro Santos, Jenene Nagy, and Gerbi Tsesarskaia. Curated by Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova. The exhibition opens on November 16, 2024, 6—9 pm.

ON VIEW NOVEMBER 16, 2024—FEBRUARY 2025, ALL GALLERIES

Stratification is the horizontal layering of materials like rocks, soil, or ice, occurring through the settling of particles, glacial melting, or the slumping of material. Similar to the geologic process, urban stratification involves the evolution of cities, where new buildings are constructed over existing ones, as seen in Rome, where ancient ruins lie beneath modern developments. This concept is also present in economic stratification where society is divided into social classes based on economic status, affecting social relationships and power dynamics.

After visiting several geological landmarks along the American West, the evidence of time through millions of years of layers is quite unfathomable. There is a darkness that comes with the knowledge that all that exists will crumble into one of these layers with time. This stratification of everything was the thinking that led to the impetus for Stratified Gestures. Not just the gestures of mark-making and layer-building in art that mirror nature, but those actions we impose on the layers of strata in nature, the built environment, and the human systems we develop.

Stratified Gestures follows a thread of thinking connecting the work in the exhibition not just to the process of making strata by building layers on a surface, but also the themes of natural, urban, and systematic stratification putting all the work in a visual and conceptual conversation. Through documentation photos, painting, geometry, collage, ceramic, and other mix media, the landscape experienced throughout the American West, once part of an ancient sea, is recreated within the gallery walls, reminding us how time will lead us to the same end every time—humbling us with every layer.

Miguel Misa, a student of Teaching Professor Michael Klotz, claimed first place with his outstanding performance of the first movement of Walton's Viola Concerto, while Catherin Meza, a graduate student of Associate Professor Robert Dundas, earned second place for her exquisite rendition of Dvořák's "Song to the Moon" from Rusalka.

The concert opens with the sparkling "Overture in D Major" by Haydn, a piece brimming with elegance and vivacity that sets the stage for an evening of exceptional performances. Next, revel in the enchanting sounds of Prokofiev's "Classical Symphony," a delightful blend of traditional form and modern harmonic innovation that charms and excites in equal measure.

This exhibition, the first solo show in the United States, revisits three decades of practice, from 1963 until 1994, showcasing nine built and unbuilt projects. The exhibition’s centerpiece is the fabrication of nine scale models produced by members of Fundación Espacio in Caracas and FIU’s architecture students. Additionally, the gallery will show digital drawings of the projects and photographs of the buildings.

Through archival materials, this installation aims to present glimpses of the humanistic aspects of the Tenreiros’ life and practice, as their passion for architecture, philosophy, education, music, and poetry.

Rafael Urbina and the curatorial team present a brief timeline showcasing scanned hand drawings, sketches, and notes. The timeline shows the slow design process, its overlaps between commissions and competitions, the educated practice filled with references, and the spiritual life of Jesús and Ana Tenreiro.

This exhibition compiles projects from Spring 2023 until Summer 2024 in a display of research, drawings, renderings, and photographs from each student or team. The show includes the work of two alumni who received the 2023 & 2024 Photographer of the Year awards from the AIA Florida chapter.

In 2024, the Architecture students won all the AIA Miami Students Awards, 3 of 6 AIA Florida Students Awards, and the Photographer of the Year for two consecutive years. Through this installation, the Department recognizes the effort, dedication, and success of our FIU students and faculty in achieving these honors.

Kimberly D. Lomis, M.D., is the vice president for Medical Education Innovations at the American Medical Association, where she leads the AMA ChangeMedEd® Initiative, impacting over 30,000 medical learners nationwide. Her work focuses on advancing competency-based medical education, integrating AI and technology into medical education, promoting diversity, and enhancing learner and faculty wellbeing. Previously, Dr. Lomis was a professor of Surgery and associate dean of Undergraduate Medical Education at Vanderbilt University, overseeing a major curriculum revision and implementing competency-based assessment. She has held leadership roles with the Association of American Medical Colleges and is an expert in competency-based education, program evaluation, and change management. Dr. Lomis earned her M.D. from UT Southwestern Medical School, trained in general surgery at Vanderbilt, and is a Harvard Macy Institute Scholar.

Dimensions Variable (DV) is pleased to present Stratified Gestures, a group exhibition throughout all the galleries. Participating artists include FIU Alumna Karla Kantorovich, Nicole Burko, Yanira Collado, Regina Jestrow, Jamilah Sabur, Bruno Castro Santos, Jenene Nagy, and Gerbi Tsesarskaia. Curated by Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova. The exhibition opens on November 16, 2024, 6—9 pm.

ON VIEW NOVEMBER 16, 2024—FEBRUARY 2025, ALL GALLERIES

Stratification is the horizontal layering of materials like rocks, soil, or ice, occurring through the settling of particles, glacial melting, or the slumping of material. Similar to the geologic process, urban stratification involves the evolution of cities, where new buildings are constructed over existing ones, as seen in Rome, where ancient ruins lie beneath modern developments. This concept is also present in economic stratification where society is divided into social classes based on economic status, affecting social relationships and power dynamics.

After visiting several geological landmarks along the American West, the evidence of time through millions of years of layers is quite unfathomable. There is a darkness that comes with the knowledge that all that exists will crumble into one of these layers with time. This stratification of everything was the thinking that led to the impetus for Stratified Gestures. Not just the gestures of mark-making and layer-building in art that mirror nature, but those actions we impose on the layers of strata in nature, the built environment, and the human systems we develop.

Stratified Gestures follows a thread of thinking connecting the work in the exhibition not just to the process of making strata by building layers on a surface, but also the themes of natural, urban, and systematic stratification putting all the work in a visual and conceptual conversation. Through documentation photos, painting, geometry, collage, ceramic, and other mix media, the landscape experienced throughout the American West, once part of an ancient sea, is recreated within the gallery walls, reminding us how time will lead us to the same end every time—humbling us with every layer.

Jim Daniels has authored thirty collections of poetry, seven collections of fiction, and four produced screenplays. His most recent books include The Luck of the Fall, fiction, and The Human Engine at Dawn and Comment Card, poetry. A collection of essays, An Ignorance of Trees, will be published in 2025. He is a recipient of two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and his work has been published in The Best American Poetry and Pushcart Prize volumes. A native of Detroit, he lives in Pittsburgh, where he is the Thomas Stockham Baker University Professor Emeritus of English at Carnegie Mellon University. He currently teaches in the Alma College low-residency MFA Program.

Hershberger is not only a celebrated soloist but also an avid chamber musician. He recently formed Duo Vivo! with cellist Gregory Hamilton and performs with the Excelsior! Trio, recognized as Class Notes Artists by Minnesota Public Radio. His dynamic performances and collaborations have made him a sought-after artist at festivals and venues across the United States, including the Oracle Chamber Music Festival and the Great Romantics Music Festival in Canada.

Currently a Professor of Piano at Concordia College, Hershberger’s students have gone on to win prestigious competitions and attend top graduate programs. His acclaimed recording, Transfigured Shadows, featuring works by Franz Liszt, has been highlighted on Michael Barone’s New Releases radio program. This exhibition compiles projects from Spring 2023 until Summer 2024 in a display of research, drawings, renderings, and photographs from each student or team. The show includes the work of two alumni who received the 2023 & 2024 Photographer of the Year awards from the AIA Florida chapter.

In 2024, the Architecture students won all the AIA Miami Students Awards, 3 of 6 AIA Florida Students Awards, and the Photographer of the Year for two consecutive years. Through this installation, the Department recognizes the effort, dedication, and success of our FIU students and faculty in achieving these honors.

Stratification is the horizontal layering of materials like rocks, soil, or ice, occurring through the settling of particles, glacial melting, or the slumping of material. Similar to the geologic process, urban stratification involves the evolution of cities, where new buildings are constructed over existing ones, as seen in Rome, where ancient ruins lie beneath modern developments. This concept is also present in economic stratification where society is divided into social classes based on economic status, affecting social relationships and power dynamics.

After visiting several geological landmarks along the American West, the evidence of time through millions of years of layers is quite unfathomable. There is a darkness that comes with the knowledge that all that exists will crumble into one of these layers with time. This stratification of everything was the thinking that led to the impetus for Stratified Gestures. Not just the gestures of mark-making and layer-building in art that mirror nature, but those actions we impose on the layers of strata in nature, the built environment, and the human systems we develop.

Stratified Gestures follows a thread of thinking connecting the work in the exhibition not just to the process of making strata by building layers on a surface, but also the themes of natural, urban, and systematic stratification putting all the work in a visual and conceptual conversation. Through documentation photos, painting, geometry, collage, ceramic, and other mix media, the landscape experienced throughout the American West, once part of an ancient sea, is recreated within the gallery walls, reminding us how time will lead us to the same end every time—humbling us with every layer.

The exhibition’s centerpiece is the fabrication of nine scale models produced by members of Fundación Espacio in Caracas and FIU’s architecture students. Additionally, the gallery will show digital drawings of the projects and photographs of the buildings.

Recognized by the Royal Philharmonic Society of London as one of the finest chamber music ensembles, ÓNIX is celebrated for their dedication to showcasing the very best of contemporary Latin American and Mexican music.

AII members have the experience of soloists and are virtuosi musicians: Alejandro Escuer flutes. Fernando Domínguez clarinets. Abel Romero violín. Edgardo Espinosa violoncello, Edith Ruiz piano, lvan Manzanilla, percussion and frequent guests artists such as Rodrigo Sigal electronics. Oescribed as Unique in Latín America, exceptional, hypnotic...with amazing strength and musical expressiveness (Classical Music Review), ONIX was founded in 1995 to be the voice of Mexican and Latin American composers under the honored principles of cultural diversity. high quality musical craftsmanship and artistic originality.

ONIX offers a unique panorama of exclusive dedicated works. which are often influenced by literature, theatre. the visual arts and new technologies. Furthermore, ONIX has worked on building bridges and new forms of expression by stimulating the creation of special pieces that combine classical music with other musics and aesthetic traditions. The idea is to promote new composers with the artistic vision of expanding and developing contemporary music idioms. The main strategy of the ensemble consists of national and international collaborations which translate into recordings. world premieres. commissions. residencies. tours and the launching of a diversity of projects. ONIX has premiered many works dedicated to the ensemble and has toured extensively in Mexic , the United States. South America and Asia. The ensemble has started a successful seminar on contemporary music called Seminario de Música Contemporánea (SEMUC) which started in 2008 and has had guest performers and composers from all over the world.

In ONIX's desire to promote inclusive musical development. it carries out two projects of artistic exploration and experimentation; one of them. another ensemble within the ensemble specialized in new technologies of audio. video. multimedia. electroacoustic music and improvisation called LUMÍNICO [www.luminico.org).a project that has been extremely successful in places such as Japan. China. Colombia. Poland. Austria. and Germany. The second one. Duplum for bass clarinet and percussion is other successful derivation of ONIX with many premieres and commissions.

The group has earned prizes and acknowledgements from Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes. México en Escena Award 2004-2006 and 2007-2009, 2008-2011 and 2013-2015; 2017 Fomento a Proyectos y Coinversiones Culturales Award. Top Ten Grammy Latino nomination in 2004. Rockefeller Foundation México-US award. among others. Other institutions that have grant- ed support to ONIX are Fundación BBVA Bancomer; Coordinación Nacional de Música y Opera. Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes; Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. In this workshop, we will go over the different aspects of switching from the centuries old style of keeping a physical, handwritten laboratory notebook to a modern, easy to use, digital notebook. We will show you how to implement Microsoft OneNote for laboratory use and go over both tips and tricks and dos and don'ts when using a digital lab notebook.

The FIU student composers’ concert is designed to showcase the music of FIU student composers while at the same time providing students the opportunity to learn how to organize, coach, and prepare their music for an audience. Each concert includes a variety of works with diverse instrumental and/or vocal combinations as well as music with electronics, and/or video. Given the varied interests of our students, the works presented typically represent a wide variety of aesthetics and compositional techniques.

Starting with the 2022 academic year the Wertheim School of Music at FIU and the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami began a collaboration to present the works of our students at joint concerts being held at the university of Miami and at Florida International University. Tonight’s concert is a continuation of that collaboration.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide participants with an overview of the IACUC approval and protocol management process. The workshop will cover the steps in determining if IACUC review is required; the various review types, and an overview of submitting a protocol application for review and approval. Furthermore, the workshop will go over the various forms (amendment, renewal, event form) to ensure the activities remain compliant.
