BUCK Impact Report 2023

The path to wellness looks different for everyone. Working with Thorne, we spotlight investing in health and wellness for every age and stage in this short film and integrated campaign.

Thorne: Find Your Way

As a product and as a company, Notion does...a lot. Its aesthetic is beloved, its devotees are legion. For its 2024 flagship brand awareness campaign, our challenge was to help explain the benefits of a tool that aims to be as useful and flexible as paper — while maintaining Notion’s minimalist rigor.

Notion: Think It. Make It.

Our friends at HoYoverse are rolling out “Natlan,” the newest map expansion for the beloved open-world adventure RPG Genshin Impact, and it's packed with vibrant landscapes and a roster of characters who can parkour, shark-surf, and show off crazy powers.

They wanted to do something different this time around and push a more interpreted style, so we got in on the action with a teaser trailer that not only captures the excitement of the game, but mixes in a fresh, unabashedly art-forward look designed to shake things up and draw in a bigger crowd. Take a look at the final trailer, stills, and some early WIP designs.

Microsoft had a big year in 2024, launching their flagship Copilot products into their software and cloud ecosystems. Their next step was releasing a fleet of computer devices with Copilot integrated in them at a hardware level. To announce this groundbreaking milestone, they needed a new, elevated visual identity to match the leap to these new Next Gen AI PCs. A striking new look to not only announce their new product but to bring a visual cohesion to the brand globally at this exciting moment in Microsoft history. To do this, they wanted us to challenge the way they think and operate.

No pressure, right?

We set out to reimagine the Cash App spatial illustration system driven by a mission that demanded both strategic precision and creative vision.

Our task was to gracefully evolve the brand's bold and colorful persona to its next phase as the coolest kid in the BLOCK™ group.

To celebrate our B Corp certification, we invited BUCK artists to reimagine the B Corp logo in their own unique styles. This open call to our artists is ongoing, just like our commitment to uphold B Corp’s standards.

The power of sound can take us anywhere, as shown in our recent work with Amazon for the release of the newest Echo Buds. Our 30-second hero spot, GIFs, and stills visualize the feeling of popping in a pair of Echo Buds — taking viewers on a journey that amplifies the elements of reality.

Together we chronicle the epic journey of navigating New York’s real estate market transformed into charming Renaissance-style paintings.

BUCK partnered with StreetEasy and Mother New York to illustrate the beauty, drama, and relief when you find the perfect studio space, get pre-approval for your dream apartment, or land in the neighborhood that finally feels like home. The result is a collection of hand-painted, modern masterpieces that are quintessentially New York.

When our friends at Canva asked us to develop a new set of emojis for their brand glow up, we couldn’t wait to dive in. Canva’s emojis are just like Canva: fun, colorful, and full of personality.

We joined forces with Meta to craft a visual identity for the most legendary VR game ever made: Asgard’s Wrath II.

Our work included a logo overhaul for the series, a robust graphic language and type system, and a 3D animated teaser trailer to get fans excited for the game’s release.

It's Nice That covers our collaboration with Notion on "Think it. Make it."

BUCK partnered with GitHub to create a cohesive and dynamic design system for their online platforms. This system then extended to a suite of digital and physical materials used at their annual conference, GitHub Universe.

When the opportunity to collaborate with Sony Pictures Animation on a key sequence for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse came our way, we were so excited we ran up the walls.

For the sequence, we brought Gwen Stacy’s inner world to life and told the backstory to help set up the rest of the film. The idea was to do this in a painterly style that mimicked the character’s own comic book-style universe.

Rivian is a future-first company dedicated to creating vehicles that are made for the planet, not at its expense.

They needed an internal, stylish, visual design system to match their overall design ethos — one that is anchored in nature, quietly confident, and always down to explore.

We called shotgun.

Blur approached BUCK with this seed of an idea for the third season of Netflix’s “Love, Death + Robots” — “a zombie apocalypse in tilt shift” — and asked if we could make it funny.

We said hold our tiny beer.

BUCK had the pleasure of collaborating with director David Wilson to create the music video for Mabel feat. Shygirl "Look At My Body Pt. II." Our vision of mighty Mother Nature celebrates her anatomy without objectifying it — challenging the male gaze and historic sexual objectification of women.

The result is a 2D-animated sequence that combines feminist values with classic craft — a psychedelic romp showcasing the power of womanhood in a sequence that is fluid, dynamic, and filled with BUCK flair.

We recently had the honor of teaming up with Meow Wolf to create "Change Your Frequency," a psychedelic teaser celebrating the opening of “Radio Tave” at Meow Wolf Houston.

The film stars Houston rapper Fat Tony as a new-age, spiritual car salesman, inviting viewers on an interdimensional trip filled with eclectic visuals and Meow Wolf lore. The journey is a lo-fi, retro-future, handmade extravaganza that captures the spirit of the exhibit and culminates at the mysterious ETNL radio station, at the heart of the exhibit.
