Bonanza's core values drive our culture and growth:
Who succeeds in a culture like this? People who want to build things that have never been done before. People who get excited about empowering others. People who are comfortable with -- nay, thrive on -- rapid, constant change.
We believe a key to our longevity is pace. While some tech companies measure "employee success" by how much work can get squeezed into a 12 hour day, we've found our productivity is maximized when living a fulfilling life doesn't get short shrift.
Here's a sampling of the perks of working at Bonanza:
Five million users making 40m monthly pageviews across 30 servers with 99.99% uptime? That's what you walk into on day one. The right candidate for this job knows that when you're proactive about managing and monitoring servers, DevOps is less about firefighting and more about empowering millions of users via a well-crafted infrastructure.
Want to make an outsized difference on a product with 50m monthly pageviews and growing? Our Full Stack Developer contributes across the stack, from understanding database queries to writing concise Ruby to implementing HTML (or HAML) that brings our intuitive designs to life for our 40k active sellers. This role touches all realms of Bonanza functionality, though if you find one area you're especially good at, we'd love to have you own it.
Bonanza is an extraordinary marketplace that empowers more than 30,000 entrepreneurs to maintain their own online business, minus the busywork. These entrepreneurs are passionate enough to have voted us the #1 “Most Recommended" marketplace (over eBay, Amazon, and Etsy) in the biggest survey of online sellers.
How do we foster the happiest customers of any marketplace? By listening to them, giving them the benefit of the doubt, and providing superb service. Our focus on the needs of our community has allowed us to build a unique set of tools aimed at simplifying the ecommerce experience. Bonanza users know that when they report a bug or suggest a feature, we listen fiercely and act accordingly.
Here’s where you come in. This position is the glue between "the customer" and "the code," ensuring that Bonanza continues its legendary commitment to user happiness.
When you've got 25 million items in your database, how do you determine the difference between the band "Rose Windows," the software "Microsoft Windows," and a car's rear window? By analyzing the context of the user's phrasing, and building a system that can simulate human intelligence.
Our vision is to build a platform akin to Google's "Knowledge Graph," but catered specifically to the domain of sellable products. If you've got the smarts to figure this out, the result could provide ultra-relevant product recommendations (+ product reviews), on Bonanza and anywhere else that English is used to describe an item.
