JOLTS Home

The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) program of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) produces monthly and annual estimates of job openings, hires, and separations for the nation. The JOLTS program also produces monthly state estimates for all 50 states and the District of Columbia at the total nonfarm industry level.

The number of job openings was little changed at 8.1 million on the last business day of November. Hires changed little at 5.3 million. Total separations were little changed at 5.1 million. Quits decreased to 3.1 million, while layoffs and discharges changed little at 1.8 million.
