Let's do some word association, shall we? When I say "PB and...", what comes to mind?

maybe he won't notice...
There are some food-related things that I like to remain unchanged (...until I suddenly get tired of those items and want something completely different). These things include but are not limited to my weekday breakfast (Lucky Charms, if you must know, which replaced a years-long obsession with Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds) and my before-bed treat (creamsicles for the win!)(previously a homemade caramel steamer, for which it's entirely too hot right now).

preachin' to the choir
I'm not sure how certain recipes are named. Fool? Devils on horseback? Whoopie pies? Dutch baby? Spotted dick? No clue. Another on that list is preacher cookies. I was first introduced to them at my childhood church's monthly fellowship meal, so I like to think that some little old lady made these for her preacher all the time and so they were named thusly.

farms are fun*
*This is true both in real life and, as it turns out, even more so in the form of a game! No manure on my shoes and under my fingernails that way...and no traipsing through the snow on mornings like this! :)
If you're in search of an easy, semi-homemade-but-still-delicious treat to serve to two for a week or twelve for a day, look no further. I, Krusteaz, and a smattering of chocolate chips are coming to your rescue.

where's the beef? (and a giveaway)
When you think about Hickory Farms, a basket full of sausage, cheese, and pears is probably what comes to mind. However, they're about more than just meat and cheese. They supply fruit and nuts, wine, and sweets too.

the cartoon lightbulb
Way back in 2011, I made a really easy dessert that was reminiscent of one of my favorite candy bars, the Mounds. The treats were so good, I still have them as a part of my sweets rotation.

a true teacher
I think (and hope) we all have teachers from elementary or high school or college who really left an impression on our lives. I consider myself very fortunate and am grateful that there were so many men and women in my life who taught me much more than the things applying to the subject at hand.

courgette.
I prefer the word courgette to zucchini and aubergine to eggplant, but I get the oddest looks when I use them out loud and in public. Oh, well.
| My photo processing program wanted me to tag that farmer's face. Sadly, I don't know his name. |

a cause for celebration
Friends, tomorrow is a special day, for as I understand it, it's National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. If ever there was a food that deserved a day of recognition, it's the humble and long-loved chocolate chip cookie.

deep, dark, and delectable
As names go, bete noire is simultaneously fitting and wildly inappropriate. It literally translates to ‘black beast’ but can be applied to anything to be detested or avoided. Fact: You can try to avoid this decadent treat, but if you like chocolate, it just ain’t gonna happen.

s'more or less
I know everyone is supposed to go crazy for s'mores, but somewhere along the way, I lost enthusiasm for them. I think the magic of a campfire is really important to get the whole effect, and I haven't actually been in the presence of one of those for many years.

more is more
Yes, I know that sometimes less is more, but other times, it just feels right to border on gluttonous.

feliz navidad
I know that José Feliciano's song "Feliz Navidad" is on lots of people's List of Terrible and Annoying Christmas Carols, but I kinda like it. It's upbeat and fun in a genre that's often a little bit dreary and slow, you can't deny that.

whelmed, but not overly*
I've never hidden the fact that I don't care for the flavor of pumpkin, though I'll readily admit that it makes a useful ingredient. Anyone who works with food in any capacity knows that pumpkin is in everything from lotion to lattes right now, so it behooves me as a baker to get on board.

a little veganization
You'd think that with the rise in popularity of vegan diets, people would know by now how to pronounce the word.
But no, I still get requests for vay-gan cakes and vej-an pies. That's okay though--at least these folks are trying to be accommodating to the needs of their friends and family.
