You can not drop this cpu/apu into existing B350 or X370 motherboards unless you have already updated the bios on that board. Contact your mobo manufacturer before you purchase one and ask what they can do. Msi offered to ship mine back for free and flash/test it but that will take a week...

I paired this with a strix rog b350f and Corsair rgb 16gb (8x2) and it worked right out of the box with bios version 3201. From a productivity stand point this is a very good processor I mainly study cyber security so I've usually got some video playing while running bash commands and multi tasking with like 15 chrome tabes open and it handles it very quickly. I got this APU to avoid high graphics card prices because I game a little bit but not enough to justify buying an expensive graphics card so this is perfect! I have an LG ultra wide monitor with freesync and the GPU overclocked to 1500mhz and it will run new games on mid settings in the 50 fps range. Overall I'm pretty satisfied!

After BIOS update, works like a charm

IN FAIRNESS, this product (at the time I purchased near release) needed a motherboard BIOS update which was installed before this chip was used. This created a pretty big issue, however, it was a motherboard thing, not necessarily a chip problem. My guess is that in the near future this intermediate step will not be needed. After that though, the chip runs great! Runs Watchdogs at 50 fps, Fortnite at 90, League at 90. The only reason I would be able to make a build was because this was an APU. Runs at about a GTX 1050 (or GTX 760) in terms of specs.

PS - Microcenter can update your Motherboard for about $30 if you need it or AMD will send you a loaner CPU to update. You still come out ahead with not having to buy a GPU + CPU combo.

I set this up in an In Win Chopin case as a super HTPC for the living room. It's awesome for light gaming from the couch and no more wondering if streaming can be had on something like the Google Chromecast, as since this is a PC it's completely agnostic in that regard.

I haven't bothered overclocking anything besides running the RAM at 3200 (definitely a requirement) as this little chip performs quite admirably at stock settings and will run cooler.

When Linux support gets a bit better around kernel 4.17 I'll be moving to that or at least dual booting.

I did replace the stock cooler with a Cryorig C7 but the fan was loud, so replaced with a slim 120mm fan from Rosewill and the temperatures dropped around 10°C and the system got much quieter. It only has the one fan so this was pretty important. I would suggest to anyone else needing a super low profile cooler too get the Noctua.

APU Gaming 2400G

I should have said, I had a Ryzen 1300x before this so I was able to flash the BIOs before installing this APU. I did not have the problem with this APU not being able to post to flash the BIOs that you would run into if this was used for your first build.

Added this to my system and removed my R7 360 Graphics card. Games run just as well with much less fan noise and heat. Recommended for a medium duty gaming desktop. I love it.

This cpu works as intended. Not sure I can say much more about it other than... don't worry about overclocking the cpu cores so much. Worry more about running a high speed memory profile. So, e.g. the BIOS will typically boot the DDR at 2133 stock, but if you purchase high speed memory such as 2933 or 3300 or something like that you can enable the higher speed in the BIOS and that will get you probably 90% of the performance boost right there (vs also overclocking the cpu core), while burning around the same amount of power as on a non-overclocked system. It's really the best way to go for this cpu.

The GPU is particularly sensitive to memory performance since it is limited by system memory bandwidth. So focusing on buying high-speed memory (e.g. in the 2966-3300 range) gives you much more bang for your buck.

I've been able to test this with a few games, but not being a heavy gamer all I really had was WoW and GW, neither of which need high-end GPUs. With dual 4K monitors I found that the GPU works amazing well at 2560x1440, giving me a solid 30-60fps (remember this is an iGPU), smooth and very play-friendly at high settings. At 4K resolution I get 15-30 fps or so but it isn't smooth and there is noticeable input lag. Not unexpected since even high-end GPUs have problems at 4K. Desktop works great at 4K, of course.

I'm very happy with this cpu. I have it in a mini-itx case and mobo with a Noctua air cooler/fan and its dead silent and cool enough that I don't even need to connect up the case fan (cpu fan, yes, case fan, no).
