Close404-Error ? 1.4.1-signed.1-signed Requires Restart
by Lazar Kovacevic
Ever been annoyed by the '404 Error' or a more understandable one 'File Not Found'? Ever bookmarked your favorite page but few months later when you finally had time to read it in detail, you couldn't find it?
If a page was (re)moved and now shows '404 Page / File / Site Not Found' error, this tiny extension uploads archived version of a page (IF archived page exists in wayback machine at archive.org).
This add-on is not compatible with your version of Firefox because of the following:
About this Add-on
############## IMPORTANT ##############
Several Firefox updates have broken one by one all of this plugin's functionalities.
If even the basic functionality is not working for you, here's a temporary fix:
1. add any page to bookmarks toolbar (somewhere so that it is always accessible, and easy to click on)
2. right click on it and edit its properties:
For name type, for example 'A',
For location enter the following line:
javascript:(function(){window.open('http://web.archive.org/web/20080706114831/'+location.href);})();
In the future, instead on clicking on 'Archive' button from the toolbar menu, click on this new bookmark you just created.
Cheers

______________________For Previous Versions_____________________
In previous versions with automatic detection 'false detection' occurs when an existing page is about this error and has error message in HTML title tag. However, these pages are not common. When this happens, just click 'Cancel' when confirm box appears, and that page will be added to 'whitelist' and will not be mistaken again for a missing page.
POSSIBLE PROBLEM:
Obsolete (no more automatic detection in current version): You 'whitelist' the page by clicking on the 'cancel' button, but warning appears again when you visit that page next time.
SOLUTION:
Try changing permissions of the 'whitelist.txt' file in extension folder.
