We have brought together a collection of papers published in EJIL that analyse the aspects of international law that derive from custom or state practice. The collection is completely free to read online, as is all content that has been published for 12 or more months.
Read the collection 25th Anniversary Retrospective
In celebration of EJIL's 25th anniversary, we worked with the editor to curate a Retrospective collection from across EJIL’s archive. The main exhibit of this Retrospective includes one or two articles from each year. There are also five special exhibits, which contain chronological listings of the Tables of Contents, the Editorials, the Roaming Charges photographs, the Last Page poems, and a selection of 25 Book Reviews.
The EJIL Foreword
In EJIL's new Foreword, entitled Imagining the Rule of Law: Rereading the Grotian ‘Tradition’, Martti Koskenniemi reintroduces Hugo Grotius to examine the way his principal work generated a novel space for international lawfulness between utilitarian politics and theology.
