    This morning, I voted to send a statement to President Trump and John Bolton that they cannot declare war on Iran without congressional approval. The vote is still open. It’s now 49-40. Let’s pray that enough Republicans do the right thing and uphold the Constitution.

    It’s barely 7 am, and voting has been open for two hours on my amendment with that prohibits war with Iran without congressional approval. Congress should have the guts and the backbone to go on the record on any war before we order our troops into harm's way.

    Mr. President, Maryland is mourning the loss of five journalists who were murdered at the Capital Gazette shooting one year ago today. Instead of taking action to combat the gun violence epidemic in America, you’re joking with Putin about getting rid of journalists? Despicable.

    Trump also bonded with Putin over a scorn for journalists. “Get rid of them. Fake news is a great term, isn't it? You don’t have this problem in Russia, but we do.” “We also have,” Putin answered, in English. “It’s the same.” They shared a chuckle.

    It was great to stop by the Capitol Hill Maker Faire. I met a young Maryland entrepreneur, Eva Jessy from Earle B. Wood Middle School. After witnessing the California wildfires, Eva built a prototype of a smart fire detector to prevent the spread of such fires. Very cool!
