john rattray -great name
Elwood continues their Artist Reel series w/ renaissance man (degree in Physics from University of Glasgow; check) -John Rattray. No ridiculous/superfluous wool caps like in LA. No -you wear a sweater to skate in Scotland. Is that the Livingston bowl? I think he is from there. Stewart (crazy/happy guy) too. Never been myself but it must be right?
Have said it before, not any kind of skater... could just make it down the Castle Terrace car park but then slam on the paved stones on George St. in front of grannies... huge respect for these guys.

sweet 'n' sour
Scando team Sweet Skateboards recently released Sweet 'n' Sour free with European skate mag Kingpin. Usual disclaminer; I'm no skater, so pretty much in awe of effortless kickflips etc. A sweet clip below; sour clips are the slams.

unused commercial
Skaters pulling powerslides while crushing tallboys. Can't imagine why Miller/the network didn't go for it... Not 100% this is really an old spec presentation for a High Life commercial, but worth watching once.

howies
Been digging into this British label Howies recently. This is about as sporty/crunchy as I get clothes-wise. Really appreciate their enthusiasm and wide reach of interests; from skate/ride/surf to the love of a good cup of tea to beach cleanup to kids clothes... I like their simple stuff best myself, some jeans, good tshirts, anything with tweed or Liberty prints...

They believe in the rocking chair test (think for a sec and you'll get it). They have transparancy about factories and sourcing (I wondered why they used Chinese factories for the jeans too). And last year they funded something called the Do Lectures (speakers on a variety of topics, some well known voices, some just local gearheads, e.g. Andrew Whitley: Why Bread Needs Time?, Andy Cummins: Surfers Against Sewage Story, Michael Braungart: Why Less Bad Isn’t Better? and lots more). Looks like they are having fun...

opening - assemble & conquer
Skate company RAW is opening a shop steps away from the 10engines kitchen, in Teele Square, Somerville."Assemble & Conquer will serve as the venue for all of our design. It will be the hub for shipping to our supporters worldwide. Patrons of the space will have direct access to RAW, RAW Private Stock and The Positive Kit, as well as products from a handpicked lineup of brands that we respect. Our inspiration comes from those we’ve read about or met along the way, as well as those who are a part of the family we’ve created. This spring, our worldwide skateboarding family will have a place to assemble." -via their 3/29/09 post.

As before, I'm not a skater atall, but appreciate the clean aesthetic, upright and breathing collabs (Western Edition x RAW Marvin Gaye Tribute... out of sight) and community involvement.
The Aquarium from READY AMONGST WILLING on Vimeo.
"The Aquarium, also known as Long Wharf, devised its namesake as a skatespot from its adjacency to the New England Aquarium in Boston, Massachusetts. The land upon which the spot sits was once the center of Boston's shipping industry. Today, because of it's cracked marble tiles and 100 plus year old ledges, it serves as the proving ground for present and future generations of the city's skateboarders." - Kevin R. Susienka for RAW
