Class Policies

You must sign up and pay in advance.  We do close the shop in really bad weather, power outages and floods, so if you aren't sure, call us!

Beginners To Go

Join this class in progress and learn how to cut and piece a project.  Attend one class or come every week and learn a new project!  Cost varies by project but is generally in the $5 to $10 range.

Binding Basics

Skill Builders Class.  So the top is pieced and the quilting is finally finished, but now what? It’s time for binding! In this class we will learn about binding from start to finish.  We will start by connecting strips to make continuous binding, learn to make beautiful mitered corners, discuss finishing techniques by hand and machine, review binding tools/rulers, and more. You can apply binding, and this class will show you how!  $15

Please note – this is a technique class. We will not be able to apply bindings to quilts or other projects.

Folded Star Hot Pad

This class teaches how to make a folded star hot pad entirely different than the old fashioned way. This reinvented method is EASY and FUN, no measuring or drawing. The star is built with 4 layers of folded triangles plus batting, making it thick enough to protect a surface from a hot plate. $20 includes base fabric.

Hearts Delight Kit and Pattern for the Lil Twister RulerHearts Delight

This charming little 25" x 25" wall quilt will just fit on your front door, or in that small space in your foyer.  Class price includes all the fabric you will need to make the quilt top, including the precut charms!   Uses the Lil Twister ruler.  $35 with ruler, $30 if you already have one.

the Library QuiltThe Library Quilt!  Back by popular demand, we are once again offering this class.  This quilt is actually made of paper pieced blocks, but it is how you make and embellish those blocks that makes this quilt wonderful!  $20 plus pattern. 
Machine Quilting Class with a Walking Foot
Lower your feed dogs and raise your creativity in this class taught by Tamara.  This hands on class will provide the basic and beyond for machine quilting using your home sewing machine and the proper tools.  $20.  (Here's a note from Donna about the class she took - Hi, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the machine quilting class. It was sooooo much fun and very informative to me. Now I'm not as afraid to do the machine quilting.) $20

This wonderful circular pattern uses a 30 degree ruler.  The pattern shows 3 Sizes for over your table or under your tree. 24in, 36in or 48in Diameter.  $30 class fee includes pattern.

Learn or review piecing and quilting basics in this series of technique classes held the last Monday of every month. $20 week. 10:30 - 1:30.
  • Finish Your Quilt.  Decide to tie, hand quilt or ma-chine quilt your quilt. We will give you an overview of the three methods and help you with it in class, but this is not an in-depth methodology class. Friday, January 27, 2017  Bring your lunch and the usual suspects.
  • Labels and Hanging Sleeve.  Tips and tricks for adding a hanging sleeve, creating and attaching a label.  Friday, February 24, 2017  Bring your lunch and the usual suspects.

  • Cutting Basics.  Learn how to accurately rotary cut, what all those lines on your ruler are for. Try before you buy by using our rotary cutter and rulers. We will also talk about fabric quality, straight of grain and whether or not to prewash. Friday, April 28, 10 - 2   Bring your lunch and the usual suspects.
  • Piecing Basics.  The importance of a 1/4" seam and how to find it. How to avoid overlapping seams, including twirling a seam for less bulk. Press for success! Setting a quilt or block on point. Friday, May 26, 10- 2    Bring your lunch and the usual suspects.
  • Border Basics.  Borders can make or break a quilt. Do you want a straight border, a pieced border, a scalloped border, a mitered border, flanges, piping? We will show you how to add it and keep your quilt flat. Friday, June 23, 10 - 2   Bring a panel and several choices you might use for borders. Also bring a retractable metal tape measure. Don't forget your lunch and the usual suspects.

    Toiletry Bags

    This is a great class for a beginner who wants to make something personal as a gift.  There are 5 sizes of toiletry bags featuring 1-piece construction & a very simple zipper insertion. Templates included. Mini: 4-1/2in x 3in x 1-3/4in Small: 6in x 3-1/2in x 1-3/4in Medium: 8in x 4in x 2in, Large: 9-3/4in x 5-1/2in x 3in Flat Iron: 12in (or any length) x 3in x 2-1/2in. $20 plus pattern.

    Top Off Day

    Robbie Sutton, a long arm quilter and the owner of Pieceful Hollow Designs is usually at the shop on the first and third Friday of the month from 11AM - 2PM to accept your top and review options with you.  That's Top Off Day:-))  If you can't make it on that day, you can leave it at any time and pick out a quilting design from her design book. Robbie will call you when your quilt is done, and you can pick it up here any time.

    Be sure to call first JUST IN CASE the weather or some other unforeseen event stops Robbie from getting to the shop.
