Vaya Research Center for FOSS, is a non profit, entrepreneur organization for the advancement of innovation and Open Source technology at Israel.
The center is involved in the areas listed below:
Investigating advanced forms of organizational structure and behavior
Many FOSS based companies entertain advanced forms of structure and community relations.
We believe that while these structures are crucial for their overall success, they may also offer great insights
for NON Open Source companies in areas such as HR, Mareting, Strategy, R&D and more.
Our research is focused on finding the key structures and documenting them.
FOSS and education
At December 2005 ISOC-IL (the Israeli Internet Association) partnered with Vaya to provide the center with resources to build an Internet based support site for Israeli schools. Zulo the designated site has since transformed and serves as a community site. In addition to the many training courses and technological knowhow for schools wishing to implement and use Free and Open Source software, zulo includes podcast and video cast shows, a blogging system and much more.
The site which was created in collaboration with Whatsup - the popular Israeli forums and news site, is based on an original Open Source Hebrew wiki platform named Lahak creadted by Meir Kriheli
Much of the knowledge regarding implementation, problem solving and training courses you'll find at Zulo is based on the Hatzor Ha-Glilit Ort Hight School project, A voluntary project of the Israeli Free and Open Source community.
