During school days, many of my teachers called me a “daydreamer.” I was ADD before ADD was a thing. A wiggler, a teaser and a classroom distraction. I remember sitting at the student-athlete graduation breakfast in 2019, shortly after I began my career at Utah State. I was listening to the guest speaker deliver one of the most incredible speeches I have ever heard. COLUMN: Thoughts on columnists

I look forward to each Friday. That’s because that is the day when submitted columns to the ISJ start popping up on the online platform edition. The printed version arrives at my home in the next day’s mail. A Friday evening highlight for me is to browse those columns on my phone to see who of us made the cut that week. When I get the physical copy in hand, I often re-read and even highlight and take notes from some of the other authors' thoughts. I learn from them…I agree with some…I disagree with others. Cache County Connections was established after the 9/11 attacks as an interfaith council composed of civic and religious leaders in Cache County. The group was formed based on the belief that collaborative efforts between spiritual and civic leaders would benefit the community's well-being. Goals of the group include fostering opportunities for community understanding between groups with different beliefs, and providing opportunities for people to serve together.
