Jace Jung Wins Minor League Gold Glove Award at Second Base

Jace Jung of the Erie Seawolves was recently awarded the MiLB Gold Glove award for his flawless play at second base. Jung yielded just three errors in 109 games and recorded a .993 fielding percentage in Double-A. The former Texas Tech standout started 10 games for the 2021 Collegiate National Team in which he played mostly second base and batted .267 with eight hits.

Erick Fedde Awarded Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) League MVP

USA Baseball alum Erick Fedde was recently named the MVP of the KBO League in Korea. The 2013 Collegiate National Team participant and former Washington National proved he has what it takes to dominate the bump, as the right-hander won the pitching Triple Crown by leading the KBO in wins, strikeouts, and ERA. Fedde becomes the first USA Baseball alum to win MVP in the KBO. Fedde made two starts and posted a 3.18 ERA with a 1-0 record as a member of the 2013 Collegiate National Team.

Veronica Alvarez and the Next Generation

Alvarez recently helped coach the nation’s 30 best high school girls baseball players at the MLB Breakthrough Series at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. Also serving as the Oakland A’s coordinator of player development in Latin America, she joined former Women’s National Team players to help develop the top talent in the nation. Alvarez has a plethora of experience with the Women’s National Team both as a player and manager.

CJ Van Eyk Helps Surprise Saguaros to Second Straight Arizona Fall League Title

Van Eyk proved to be a reliable arm for the title-winning Saguaros during the 2023 AFL season. In making five appearances with two starts, the right-hander posted a 2.51 ERA and a 2-1 record while holding opponents to a .196 batting average. Van Eyk helped the 2016 18U National Team capture gold in Mexico and also pitched for the 2018 Collegiate National Team while at Florida State.

Devin Williams Named Trevor Hoffman National League Reliever of the Year

As well as being named an All Star in back-to-back years, Devin Williams has now secured his second NL Reliever of the Year award. Williams recorded 36 saves with the Milwaukee Brewers while posting a 1.53 ERA in 61 appearances. Williams owned the bump during his time with Team USA in the 2023 WBC as well, allowing no runs to score and only conceding one hit in 3.1 innings.

Spending nearly two decades as St. Louis’ ace, Adam Wainwright has left a sizable legacy as a Cardinal. The World Series champion and three-time All Star led the National League in wins twice in his career while also adding two Gold Gloves to his name and even a Silver Slugger award in 2017. The Georgia native racked up 200 wins in his career with a 3.53 ERA and 2,202 strikeouts. Wainwright made his first and only appearance in a Team USA jersey during the 2023 WBC in which he went 2-0 in two starts while maintaining a 2.25 ERA.

The Versatile Character of Ken Griffey Jr.

Frequently being remembered as the home-run launching superstar, Griffey has continued to stay involved with the game of baseball in other roles. The former slugger could be seen in Team USA’s dugout during the 2023 World Baseball Classic, playing the role of hitting coach. Griffey also led Team USA in batting average (.524), hits (11), and RBIs (10). The Kid can also be seen on the sidelines of other events taking photos of NFL and MLS games.

Gerrit Cole Wins First Cy Young in Unanimous Fashion

Cole earned his first Cy Young award in 2023 after recording a stellar year with the New York Yankees. The hard-throwing ace led the American League in eight statistical categories including innings pitched (209) and ERA (2.63). Cole made back-to-back appearances with Team USA as he played for the Collegiate National Team in both 2009 and 2010, winning gold in 2009.
