Ryan Gosling Is Neil Armstrong In First Man Poster; Trailer Coming Tonight

Universal has unveiled a new First Man poster, featuring Ryan Gosling as astronaut Neil Armstrong, ahead of tonight's trailer release. Following the wild success of his Oscar-winning musical La La Land, director Damien Chazelle changes things up with his next feature film. But Chazelle will still keep one thing that helped make La La Land such a hit: leading man Ryan Gosling.

In Chazelle's First Man, Gosling plays astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. Josh Singer, who wrote the movie based on James R. Hansen's book, describes the film as a "mission movie" focused on the survival aspects of Armstrong's historic Apollo 11 moonshot. Recently revealed First Man images gave us our first look at Gosling as Armstrong, as well as Claire Foy playing the astronaut's wife Janet. The cast also includes Corey Stoll as second man on the moon Buzz Aldrin, and Lukas Haas as Michael Collins, the astronaut who got to stay behind in the lunar orbiter while Armstrong and Aldrin made history.

Dead or Alive 6 Announced With Reveal Trailer Ahead Of E3 2018

Koei Tecmo Games and Team Ninja have officially announced Dead or Alive 6, the latest installment in the fighting game franchise. The announcement, which was made ahead of E3 2018, came with a reveal trailer.

Having launched over 20 years ago, the Dead or Alive series has gained a great deal of popularity with fans for its unique gameplay mechanics that focus on emulating real-life martial arts styles. As the popularity of the Dead or Alive games increased, the series was eventually adapted into a live-action film titled DOA: Dead or Alive. The last major installment in the franchise wad Dead or Alive 5 in 2012. Since then, numerous updates of the game have been released, such as Plus, Ultimate, Ultimate: Arcade, and Last Round.

Spider-Man Developer is Making an Open-World VR Game

Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games is continuing their partnership with Oculus. The California-based developer announced that their next virtual reality title will be called Stormland. The Oculus Rift exclusive is an open-world adventure game that will allow players to explore a world either by themselves or with friends via a wide range of movement. It's currently set to release next year, although a specific timeframe wasn't announced.

This isn't Insomniac Games' first foray into virtual reality gaming. Back in 2016, the studio released three smaller titles: the Antarctic adventure Edge of Nowhere, the magic-based action game The Unspoken, and a fantasy brawler called Feral Rites. While all of the titles were generally well-received, they were recognized to be smaller in scope than Insomniac's previous gaming efforts. As such, the studio said they wanted to do a larger title now that they were used to developing virtual reality games, and the result is Stormland.

Halloween 2018 Trailer Confirms Major Michael Myers Retcon

The first trailer for Halloween 2018 showcases plenty of shocks, suspense, and moments of grisly nostalgic flair, but arguably the most notable takeaway belongs to a single line of dialogue confirming a major Michael Myers retcon.

Set 40 years after John Carpenter's Halloween in 1978, Halloween 2018 will break new ground in the franchise - namely by retconning every other sequel that came before it. Jamie Lee Curtis will reprise her role as Laurie Strode, one of the few survivors of Michael Myers' killing spree, and is revealed to have been preparing herself for his inevitable return. After Michael escapes confinement yet again, having done so in the original movie when he fled Smith's Grove Sanitarium, he proceeds to find Strode and kill her. However, despite the fact that Michael and Laurie were discovered to be siblings in Halloween II, this new, direct sequel is officially retconning their familial ties.

Stranger Things Getting A Prequel Novel About Eleven's Mother & MKUltra

The Stranger Things universe is expanding as Netflix has just announced a partnership with Penguin Random House to publish a series of books based on the acclaimed series. One such book, set for publication next spring, will be a prequel novel filling in the backstory about Eleven’s mother Terry and the MKUltra program written by Girl on a Wire YA author Gwenda Bond.

One of the most acclaimed series to premiere on Netflix, the second season of the Duffer Brothers-created Stranger Things was released on Halloween last year and filled in some of the backstory of fan favorite character Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), including her relationship to her biological mother Terry (Aimee Mullins) and the existence of other children experimented on. While Terry was in a vegetative state in the show, unaware of her surroundings, she was still able to communicate with Eleven through telepathy.

In order for a relationship change to be considered for possible inclusion on this list, it first and foremost needs to be related to at least one very well-known celebrity. Aside from that, the pair in question either needs to have broken up or become a new couple recently. For the purposes of this list, we only included relationship status changes that the public learned of within the last year or so. As a result, if fans knew about the relationship change prior to June 1^st, 2017, we excluded it from our list.

Simon Pegg Will Direct His First Movie In 2018

Star Trek and Mission: Impossible - Fallout star Simon Pegg says he is set to direct his first film, possibly starting in 2018. Filmgoers know Pegg primarily for his on-screen roles, including his performance as Chief Engineer Scotty in Star Trek and his on-going role as computer wiz Benji in the Mission: Impossible movies. Fans of Edgar Wright of course know Pegg for his roles in the director's Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End.

But Pegg is and always has been much more than a performer. Pegg wrote for TV early on in his career, then hooked up with Wright to not only star in but co-write all three Cornetto movies. Pegg's writing credits also include the movies Paul and Run, Fatboy, Run, both of which he also starred in. Pegg later joined Doug Jung in penning the screenplay for Star Trek: Beyond, the movie credited by many with re-vitalizing the Star Trek series creatively (if not at the box office).

Leaks Hint At Fallout 76 Release Date This July

With players still left in the dark about Bethesda's upcoming Fallout 76, new leaks suggest two possible launch dates in July. Instead of a Fallout 3 remaster or a long-awaited Fallout: New Vegas 2, Fallout 76 was a surprise announcement following Bethesda's tease of something new.

A first-look trailer didn't give much away as it focused on the inhabitants of Vault 76 and Vault-Tec's plans to repopulate the Earth following nuclear war. Fans have been poring over the trailer ever since and have so far deduced that 76 will be a prequel to the main series as the earliest Fallout game to date. Little else is known about the mysterious title, but the latest reports could at least give fans a release date.

Legally Blonde 3 & In the Heights Get 2020 Release Dates

Two highly anticipated movies will see release in 2020: Reese Witherspoon's long-awaited Legally Blonde 3 and Lin-Manuel Miranda's film adaptation of the Tony-winning musical In the Heights. Both properties have individually celebrated massive success on Broadway.

Though there is currently nothing in the way of plot for the upcoming Legally Blonde sequel, Witherspoon recently confirmed that she will, in fact, be donning her character's pink wardrobe and Harvard Law degree in winter 2020. In fact, she confirmed the upcoming sequel in a very Elle Woods sort of way, posting a video on her official Twitter of her lounging on a float in her pool in a pink bikini, with the caption: "It's true... #LegallyBlonde3." The movie will follow 2003's Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, & Blonde. And as for the movie adaptation of In the Heights, the slice-of-life musical about residents in a Latino neighborhood in New York City from Hamilton's Lin Manuel Miranda will be released in summer 2020.

Marvel TV Boss Wants Fans To Find Agent Carter A New Network

Marvel TV Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb asks fans to find a new network for an Agent Carter revival. Starring Hayley Atwell as the titular character, the show ran for two seasons on ABC before it was canceled in 2016 to the dismay of its loyal viewers.

It's no secret that the folks behind Agent Carter were planning for some big changes to the show after season 2 saw Peggy Carter relocate to Los Angeles and deal with the introduction of the Darkforce, called Zero Matter. Atwell even shared that the writers had a major plot twist mapped out that involves her family, particularly her brother. While it's uncertain if these will still be the case if a revival pushes through, the mere fact that there's still a chance that fans can get more of Peggy Carter if a new network picks up the series is enough (for now) for everyone to get excited.

Will Appearing In Sony's Marvel Movies Keep Characters From MCU?

If a Marvel character shows up in Sony's Marvel movie, can they still appear in the MCU? Despite producer Amy Pascal's insistence that the upcoming Venom is not set in the same universe as the proper MCU, rumors continue to persist that Tom Holland might make an appearance in Ruben Fleischer's anti-hero thriller. For all intents and purposes, as of this writing, there is no official connection between Venom and the MCU just yet, and there may never be, regardless of the best wishes of a hyped-up fandom.

As excited as audiences may be for a big-budget, R-rated, no-holds-barred Venom film, it may come at a great cost to the MCU. If Venom (along with the in-development Silver & Black and Morbius) is not set in the MCU, then what does that mean for the prospect of its characters ever appearing in a "real" Marvel movie? For that matter, the story of the upcoming animated Spider-Man film apparently precludes the possibility of a full-on live-action Spider-Verse movie starring Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield. Not that such a film was ever actually in development, but now it would just seem redundant.

PlayStation Blurred Out An Xbox One Controller In Their Own Trailer

Sony recently uploaded the extended video doc for the Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion, but there was something different about the video. The version on the PlayStation YouTube channel features one slight difference from the one that Activision had initially sent out. As spotted by some eagle-eyed viewers, the Xbox One controller that a developer uses during the video is blurred out in Sony's upload.

Just like the first game, Sony has a marketing deal for Destiny 2 (which is why it makes appearances at Sony press conferences). Not only are promotional materials supposed to highlight the PlayStation 4 version of the game, but there's also a deal in place for exclusive content. The upcoming Forsaken expansion will once again give PlayStation owners exclusive content for a set time period including a new strike, one gear set per class, a new ship and an exotic weapon. This isn't a practice unique to Destiny 2, as Sony also has similar deals in place with some major titles including Star Wars Battlefront 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Meanwhile, Microsoft has done the same in the past (most famously with Call of Duty) and is heavily rumored to have some third-party deals in place that will be announced at this year's E3.

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Casts Ride Along Star As Female Lead

Ride Along star Tika Sumpter is ready to go for a different kind of spin, taking on the female lead in Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Westworld's James Marsden has already been cast as the movie's male lead, emerging from a short-listed pack that reportedly included Jack Black, Jason Segel, Owen Wilson and Ed Helms.

Originally billed as the manic counterpart to Super Mario Bros., the 2D platformer Sonic the Hedgehog debuted in 1991 on the Sega Genesis video game system. Many sequels would follow, as well as TV, comic book and manga adaptations. Talk of a Sonic movie first emerged in 2014, and plans later crystallized at Paramount for a live-action/CG hybrid adaptation, with Jeff Fowler named to direct.

Halloween (2018) Trailer: The Nightmare Still Isn't Over

After weeks of not-so-patient waiting from fans, the first trailer for Blumhouse and Universal's highly anticipated new Halloween sequel has arrived. It's been over a month since Halloween (2018)'s trailer was revealed at CinemaCon, and received a hugely positive response from those who attended the event. This naturally made fans assume that the trailer would make its way online soon, and the more time that has elapsed without that happening, the more many Halloween devotees have grown annoyed. After all, the film hits theaters in less than five months, so why isn't there any kind of footage from it available yet to whet appetites for more Michael Myers carnage?

Thankfully, Blumhouse boss Jason Blum took to Twitter in late May to try and calm down the rabid Halloween crowd by assuring them that early June would be a "happy time." There was obviously only one thing he could be referring to: the trailer was on its way soon. Sure enough, it's now here, offering Halloween fans old and new the opportunity to get their first look at this latest incarnation of the franchise.

Kick-Ass & Hit-Girl Movie Reboot Coming From Original Director

Original Kick-Ass movie director Matthew Vaughn is planning to reboot the series, with further plans for a Hit-Girl spinoff in the mix. Superhero films had only begun to take hold of Hollywood when the first Kick-Ass hit theaters and, for related reasons, Vaughn's efforts to subvert the genre didn't have quite the cultural impact that Deadpool achieved when it arrived six years later. It did, however, launch Vaughn onto bigger comic book ventures like X-Men: First Class and the Kingsman movies, and now the filmmaker is coming full circle by returning to the Mark Millar property that started it all.

The big screen iterations of Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl have been sitting on ice since Kick-Ass 2 earned a lukewarm reception back in 2013, though their comic books are another story. Millar has been hard at work relaunching the Kick-Ass comics brand since he set up shop at Netflix last year and has since introduced the world to Patience Lee, the new Kick-Ass and a character whom both Millar and Tessa Thompson want to see brought to life by the Thor: Ragnarok star.

The ending of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is clear setup for the third Jurassic World film, promising an Earth taken over by dinosaurs. But it's a lot more than just having a few extinct species out in the wild: the film lays the groundwork for Jurassic World 3 in multiple, subtle ways.

To Colin Trevorrow - director of Jurassic World Parts 1 & 3 - a crucial part of designing a franchise is that you have a clear idea of where it should go. As he noted in one interview, "I remember telling Steven [Spielberg] even while we were making the first movie, "This is the beginning. Here is the middle. And here’s the end of the end." This is where we want to go." Where other Jurassic Park movies had a clear sense that the story was wrapped up, this one is designed to be continued and to set up a new status quo that will be explored in the final film.

Former Star Wars 9 Director Says Lucasfilm Was An 'Acidic Situation'

Colin Trevorrow has opened up about the 'personal loss' of leaving Star Wars: Episode IX. If would be fair to say Lucasfilm has had some director issues since embarking on a new series of Star Wars movies. Tony Gilroy was brought on to oversee extensive reshoots and re-editing on Gareth Edwards' Rogue One, which resulted in the film changing dramatically. Then Phil Lord & Chris Miller were fired from Solo: A Star Wars Story in June 2017 after having nearly completed filming. A clash between them and Lucasfilm over the movie's tone was the main issue, and Ron Howard was brought on to reshoot around 70% of the project.

Finally, Colin Trevorrow was removed from Star Wars: Episode IX in September 2017, with creative differences being cited. It's since been reported Lucasfilm was unhappy with Trevorrow's first draft and decided to bring back J.J. Abrams (The Force Awakens) to close out the new trilogy. Other reports suggested the critical reaction to Trevorrow's maligned drama The Book Of Henry may have played a part in the filmmaker being replaced.

Telltale's Final Walking Dead Season May Feature Unscripted Gameplay

As Telltale loads its shotgun and heads out into the wasteland for Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season, the survival horror game series may conclude with some added some unscripted gameplay mechanics. Fans were already told that the zombies will be getting unscripted actions ahead of season 4's August release, but now the whole game looks like it's going off-piste for the series swansong.

For those left disappointed by the lackluster third season, Telltale is promising to out with a bang in The Final Season. With a drastic departure from what both Telltale and its The Walking Dead series has become known for, The Final Season could be charting unknown territory as it adopts a third-person shooter style instead of the traditional Telltale controls that launched the series back in 2012.

J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot is branching out from movies and TV shows to join the world of video games. Known for the likes of Lost, the Mission: Impossible franchise, Paramount's rebooted Star Trek series, and 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Bad Robot is now set to focus its storytelling expertise on the gaming industry.

Currently working on Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Star Wars: Episode IX, and zombie-fest Overlord, Bad Robot Productions currently has its plate full on the silver screen. Not content with stopping at live-action television and feature films, Abrams is casting his net wider and trying something new. Much more than just a quick game launched to help promote a movie, Bad Robot Games will be able to fulfill Abrams' hopes of moving into games as well. Speaking at 2013's DICE video game summit in Las Vegas, Abrams expressed an interest in working with Valve on big, world-building games.

Kingsman Sequel, Prequel, Spinoff & TV Show All In The Works

The world of Kingsman is about to get much bigger, with the franchise set to receive a prequel, sequel, TV show and spinoff. Kingsman: The Secret Service was based on the graphic novel by Mark Millar, and followed a troubled youth named Eggsy being trained for a top-secret British spy organization dubbed the Kingsman. The film had a great cast – including Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine – inventive action scenes and some fun twists on standard spy movie tropes.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle found Eggsy travelling to America to work with sister organization the Statesman, and while the film was another big hit, it received more of a mixed response than the original. That said, the success of the sequel cemented the franchise, and it was only a matter of time before another entry was announced.

Infinity War Superfan Gets Invited To Avengers 4 Premiere

The Avengers: Infinity War fan who has watched the superhero blockbuster 43 times and counting has been officially invited to the world red carpet premiere of Avengers 4 next year. Marvel Studios and even their stars have been sending fans to their high-profile red carpet events as a way to give back to their loyal following. However, this latest one is a bit different compared to previous instances where fans either have to partake in a charity event or a raffle draw to receive an invite.

A Marvel fan who goes by the name Nem: The Infinity Watcher on Twitter has shot into stardom when news broke out that he's watched the latest Marvel juggernaut more than 40 times - that's almost once a day since the film debuted late April and more than 100 hours spent in the cinema to watch one film. Some questioned his sanity for seeing a movie this many times, especially when there are other blockbusters such as Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story both coming out last month. Luckily, his relentless commitment to rewatching the movie didn't go unnoticed by the film's directors, Joe and Anthony Russo.

Hereditary Review: Toni Collette's Family Has Serious Issues

Ari Aster's feature directing debut Hereditary has been generating buzz since its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and with good reason - it's a pretty freaky movie. To be fair, Aster has been making waves with his short film work since 2011 and his transition to feature filmmaking only further establishes him as a storyteller with a style that's heavily informed by genre traditions, yet very much his own. Toni Collette, who earned her scream queen stripes nearly twenty years ago on The Sixth Sense, is the anchor that keeps Hereditary on course, even when it threatens to veer off the tracks completely. Hereditary has more spooky ideas than it knows what to do with, but enough of what it throws at the wall sticks to make for one twisted horror movie.

Collette stars in Hereditary as Annie Graham, an artist who makes small-scale models and lives with her husband Steve (Gabriel Byrne), teenaged son Peter (Alex Wolff), and 13-year old daughter Charlie (Milly Shapiro). Following the death of her reclusive mother, Annie cannot escape her feelings of guilt and even has visions of the Graham family's recently-deceased matriarch around their house. Upon deciding to attend a grief support group, Annie finally admits that her family has a history of mental illness and that it contributed to her being estranged from her mother in the years leading up to her death.
