Here we have yet another early look at the 2025 Proton Saga MC3, courtesy of Johnny Tan. The spyshot, taken at a petrol station opposite Proton’s headquarters in Shah Alam, shows a fully camouflaged mule with makeshift headlights, a new front grille and most importantly, an ADAS camera behind the windscreen.
For now, it’s unclear if this MC3 update will be a stop-gap facelift for the long-running model before the proper next-generation version arrives, or if this is indeed the purported AMA-based new Saga. What’s clear is that the body looks identical to the current car, it would be unlikely – not to mention disappointing – if this is the actual “all-new” model.
Beyond what we can see here, everything else would be pure speculation. Whether it will carry on Proton’s own VVT engine or any form of a Geely powertrain, we don’t yet know. It’s certainly exciting times ahead for Proton, with this one the horizon as well as its second EV model that has already been confirmed for this year.
So folks, what do you think this is: a late facelift for the current Saga, or the all new model? Discuss below.

While comparing BMW Malaysia’s price lists for 2025 and 2024, we noticed that a few models or variants have been removed. In this post, we list out what cars have been dropped and possible reasons for their departure.
We start with the 3 Series, where the plug-in hybrid 330e M Sport is noticeably absent in the 2025 price list. Originally introduced alongside non-PHEV variants in January 2023, the 330e stood out by having adaptive suspension as standard, while the rest had a passive M Sport system.
This made the 330e unique, at least for the first few weeks it went on sale. In March, BMW Malaysia updated the 330i with adaptive M suspension, which could have impacted demanded for the 330e – the price difference between the two variants at the time was RM21,000 (with BSI). We also presume demand for the long-wheelbase 330Li to be low, but Malaysia does export the model to Thailand, so it makes sense to continue offering it here.
Next up, the plug-in hybrid 7 Series is only offered as the 750e xDrive M Sport, which is something to be expected given customer preference for the M Sport look. The brand’s flagship sedan was previously available in Pure Excellence guise, although that was limited to just 48 units, so it’s no surprise that this variant would be removed from the price list once sold out.
Before getting into the electric vehicles (EVs), other dropped models worth mentioning include the 1 Series hatchback (launched in July 2020) that only came in the sporty M135i xDrive guise and 8 Series. The latter was last offered in facelifted form as the M850i xDrive Coupe MY Edition, which was announced in September 2022. Reports suggest production of the coupe version of the 8 Series will come to an end this year, with the convertible and Gran Coupe set to live on.
As for BMW’s EVs, the iX1 launched in Malaysia in May 2023 and was initially available in a sole iX1 xDrive30 M Sport variant. In early April the next year, the order books opened for the iX1’s coupe-inspired sibling, the iX2, and later in the month, BMW Malaysia introduced the entry-level iX1 eDrive20 M Sport.
When official pricing for the iX2 was confirmed, the iX2 xDrive30 M Sport was revealed to be RM7,000 more than the iX1 xDrive30 M Sport, but provided more range and had a slightly better kit list. The removal of the iX1 xDrive30 M Sport suggests the need to create more distance and reduce the overlap between the iX1 and iX2, which had identical xDrive30 electric powertrains. The cheaper iX1 eDrive20 M Sport fulfills that purpose and stays on – the gap between it and the iX2 xDrive30 M Sport is currently RM33,000 (with BSI).
Moving on to the iX, BMW Malaysia announced in February 2024 that the xDrive40 variants would no longer be offered, although they stayed on the price list for the rest of the year likely due to remaining stock. While the xDrive40 variants have been dropped for 2025, the xDrive50 Sport, which got a spec upgrade, is still available. We also say goodbye to the top-spec iX M60.

Have you tried out the Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) vans by Rapid KL or Selangor? The vans, which were first trialled in 2023, have now become a permanent fixture alongside feeder buses, taking commuters from homes to the nearest train station.
They help solve the first and last mile issue faced by commuters, which is how to get to and from the train station. It works, and now Prasarana is introducing 300 more vans for DRT purposes.
According to transport minister Anthony Loke, it’s an effort to ensure that commuters do not need to take too long to reach the train stations, and also part of efforts to boost the usage of public transport. He said that the new vans will start operating in stages between February and June.
“Twenty vans were used since last year and it’s popular. Many like it because we charge just RM1 one way. So from March, 300 new vans will start operating, progressively we will get new vans,” Loke said in a press conference today.
Prasarana president Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said that the company, which operates Rapid public transport, is planning to introduce DRT services in new areas along the Putrajaya, Kajang and Ampang train lines, as well as in areas currently without rail or Rapid Bus services.

Public transport operator Prasarana Malaysia has achieved an average of 1.18 million trips per day across its train and bus services under the Rapid banner in 2024, which is an all-time high figure for the operator, reported The Star.
“This represents a 24% increase compared to 2023, which recorded a daily average of 955,000 [journeys], transport minister Anthony Loke said. The increase in ridership was attributed to several initiatives towards improving the reliability of Prasarana’s buses and trains, as well as the full opening of the Putrajaya line in March 2023.
Improvements made last year included the addition of new trains in to the rail network, particularly for popular Kelana Jaya LRT line, and the increase in trains and service frequency was matched by the decrease in service disruptions when measured in mean kilometres between failure (MKBF); Prasarana aims to attain an MKBF figure of one million km in 2026, according to the report.
Any disruption longer than five minutes is logged, and MKBF is measured as the distance accrued by train services on the same line before the next disruption is logged. The longer the distance travelled before the next disruption happens, the greater the reliability of the line, and operators in nations such as Singapore and Hong Kong regularly achieve MKBF figures exceeding one million km, The Star reported.
Of the five train lines operated by Prasarana – Kajang, Kelana Jaya, Putrajaya, KL Monorail, and Ampang – all showed improvements except the Ampang line, which saw a drop in service reliability. The top performer is the Putrajaya line with an MKBF score of 1.35, or 1.35 million km between failures, while the Ampang line recorded an MKBF score of 0.31, or 310,000 km.
Klang Valley commuters have a wider rail network to look forward to this year, when the LRT3 Shah Alam line begins service in September, the report wrote. Meanwhile, users of the My50 unlimited travel pass will be able to top up the passes by e-wallet in May. “This means they do not need to line up at a manual counter to renew their My50 pass,” Loke said.

Prasarana is targeting a Mean Kilometres Between Failure (MKBF) of one million for its trains by 2026’s second quarter, Bernama reports. That means an average of one disruption for every million kilometres the train travels.
“What is termed as disruption is when the train is stationary for more than five minutes. A more serious disruption is when the train does not move for more than 15 minutes. We may have reduced the number of disruptions (71 in 2024 versus 118 in 2023), but we are certainly far from satisfied.
“We want to further improve our performance. So, for this year, we aim to reduce the total number of disruptions from 71 to as minimum as possible. Hopefully, by 2026, our MKBF will reach one million km,” transport minister Anthony Loke said today when tabling the 2024 Prasarana Performance Report and 2025 plan.
“It means we do not want any disruptions in the one million kilometres travelled… when the train has travelled up to one million kilometres, then only there will be one disruption. It means a much lower frequency of disruption,” he added.
He also revealed that train operation efficiency – covering the Kelana Jaya and Ampang LRT lines, Kajang and Putrajaya MRT lines, and KL Monorail – improved by 33% in 2024, and that Prasarana is also targeting an average of 1.4 million train and bus passengers a day by December 2025 (a record 1.5 million was achieved on December 31, 2024).
“The average number of passengers using public transport under Rapid rose to 1.18 million per day in 2024 compared to 955,000 passengers in 2023, which is a 24% increase. In 2022, the figure was 681,000. This is a very positive impact and is almost back at the pre-COVID-19 levels in 2019. So, this is a proud achievement,” Loke said.
On revenue, Prasarana saw a modest 5% boost in 2024, driven mainly by the ridership increase. Loke said the company is looking into advertising, corporate sponsorship, station naming rights and land utilisation as additional revenue streams.
“Most importantly for Prasarana, moving forward is to ensure reliable service for the public. Only then will it give more confidence in using public transport,” he said, adding that new lines such as LRT3 Shah Alam would boost ridership.

BMW Malaysia has a new price list for 2025, and when compared to last year, almost every model will cost more. The increases go as high as RM11,000 or 3.51% at the models’ retail pricing, or RM15,200 or 3.54% with the BMW Service Inclusive (BSI) extended warranty and service package – this also appears to have its price revised.
Models that don’t see an increase in price include the X3 and its all-electric equivalent, the iX3. The former is currently in its third generation (G01) and is due to be replaced with the newer, fourth-generation (G45) model that made its debut in June 2024. The current X3 range includes the sDrive20i M Sport, xDrive30e M Sport and xDrive30i M Sport – the Final Editions of the first two are gone.
The iX3 (internal code G08) is based on the G01 and it too is bound to be retired to make way for the production version of the Vision Neue Klasse X, which directly previews a next-generation iX3 – this was revealed in March last year. The introduction of the iX3 Impressive Final Edition last April is a clear indicator that the current iX3’s time is running out.
Two i4 variants – the i4 eDrive35 and i4 M50 – also maintain their pricing, although both are pre-facelift offerings. The latest price list also shows the i4 eDrive40 M Sport, the first variant of the model to be sold here, has been dropped.
With the arrival of the refreshed i4 eDrive35 M Sport, we can expect the other variants to be updated as well. The facelifted i4 eDrive35 M Sport costs RM10,000 or 3.51% (RM10,800 or 3.54% with BSI) more than its pre-facelift equivalent.
As for models that do get a price hike, both variants of the 2 Series Gran Coupe, including the Final Edition are RM3,000 more (RM4,100 with BSI) and remain on the list, likely to tide things over until the second-generation model arrives.
Meanwhile, the 3 Series range is RM6,000 more (RM7,200 with BSI) than before, although this only affects the non-plug-in hybrid variants. The 330e M Sport is curiously missing from the 2025 list and the same is also true of the regular M340i xDrive (the M Sport Pro remains). Lesser M3 variants are also gone, leaving just the fully-loaded M3 Competition M xDrive with Pro Package.
Another popular nameplate is the 5 Series, which recently got a third variant called the 530i M Sport, although that’s only being revealed with estimated pricing for now. The existing 520i and 520i M Sport are RM8,000 more (RM11,400 with BSI), while the long-standing 630i GT M Sport sees a RM6,000 (RM9,400 with BSI) increase. The flagship 7 Series can no longer be had in Pure Excellence form, so there’s just the M Sport that is RM8,000 more (RM13,100 with BSI).
BMW’s range of Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) starts with the X1, which is RM6,000 more (RM8,200 with BSI) for the sole sDrive20i xLine variant. The X4, X5 and X6 are also single-variant models here and now cost RM5,000 (RM6,200 with BSI), RM8,000 (RM9,800 with BSI) and RM8,000 (RM9,800 with BSI) more respectively.
The facelifted X7 keeps its Pure Excellence and M Sport variants, both being RM11,000 (RM15,200 with BSI) more than before. The XM variants, which are the top three expensive offerings in the entire line-up, are around RM5,000 to RM5,350 more, with or without BSI. The Z4 convertible keeps its place in the 2025 price list, albeit with a RM6,000 (RM10,400 with BSI) price hike.
Coming to the other BMW i electric vehicles (EVs), the both the i5 eDrive40 M Sport and M50 are RM1,000 (RM4,200 with BSI) more than before. The i7 xDrive60 M Sport sees a larger RM7,550 (RM11,650 with BSI) price hike, while the iX1 loses the variant it debuted with – the xDrive30 M Sport – leaving just the eDrive20 M Sport that is RM1,000 (RM2,600 with BSI) more.
The iX1’s more stylish sibling, the iX2, also sees an increase of the same amount. Lastly, the iX loses three of its four variants previously offered, leaving just the updated xDrive50 Sport that is up by RM1,000 (RM2,700 with BSI).
The last extensive price revision for BMW models was in January 2024 where prices went up by as much as RM29k with BSI. Hopefully this won’t be a consistent yearly thing moving forward.

Prasarana, which operates public transport under the Rapid brand, has ordered 310 new diesel-powered buses to bolster its fleet, but this will be the final batch of ICE-powered buses. After this, it’ll all be electric buses.
“This year we’ll be adding 310 new buses, diesel buses throughout the year, expected to arrive in Q2. This will be the final batch of diesel buses that will be acquired by Prasarana,” transport minister Anthony Loke said in a press conference today, captured by Astro Awani.
“The direction of the government is after this, all buses used will be EVs. As we build our capacity to use the EV buses, this will be the last of the diesel buses. After this we will acquire 250 EV buses, which are currently in the tender process,” the Seremban MP added.
Back in 2023, Loke said that the Rapid Bus fleet electrification programme would be implemented in stages through two phases starting from that year. The first phase would have seen Prasarana purchase 100 electric buses for Klang Valley and Penang. The procurement process was expected to be completed by Q4 2024. Phase two would have see the acquisition of 481 EV buses from 2025.
Going fully electric has its challenges. Loke has gone on record to say that prices of EV buses are double that of ICE buses (in 2023) and that there are not enough charging points for the buses.

In Cars, International News, Polestar / By Mick Chan / / 2 comments
Polestar has announced that it will be rolling out the Polestar 7 as a premium compact SUV, and this model will be produced in Europe.
This will be of a size comparable with the Range Rover Evoque, and the Polestar 7 will mark the company’s transition from a multi-platform approach to its model range, to one that uses a single architecture aimed at reducing complexity, cost and investments, according to the company.
At present, the Polestar 2 uses the CMA platform used by the Volvo EX40, the Polestar 3 uses the SPA2 platform that underpins the EX90, and the Polestar 4 is built on the Geely SEA platform. The Polestar 5 and 6 have been tipped to use versions of the SEA platform, says the publication; the brand plans to begin sales of the Polestar 5 in the second half of this year.
The exact location for Polestar’s European production site has yet to be disclosed, however Autocar has reported that the EV brand has been known to be looking at a Geely plant that is under construction in Slovakia.
The Polestar 7 was previously said to emerge in 2027, according to former Polestar chief Thomas Ingenlath, however current Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller did not reveal the model’s launch date during his presentation, according to Autocar.
Polestar stated that its updated business plan aims for sales growth of between 30% and 35% from this year to 2027, with positive free cash flow after investments expected in 2027.
“We are speeding up our retail expansion and commercial transformation, whilst adjusting our future model line-up and significantly reducing our cost base. Both in terms of volumes and financials, we expect 2025 to be the strongest year in Polestar’s history,” Lohscheller said.
The EV brand is expediting its shift to an active selling model with new retail partners and retail spaces, it said, and it plans to grow the number of retails spaces from 70 to 130 in Europe, and from 36 to 57 in North America. The existing direct-to-consumer online sales model will remain, offering customers a choice in how they wish to purchase Polestar models.
In Cars, International News, Subaru / By Gerard Lye / / 1 comment
Following its debut in Japan last year, the third-generation Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid has now been revealed for the United States. Set to go on sale in the fall of this year – pricing will be announced around then – the Crosstrek Hybrid will be offered for the 2026 model year.
The Crosstrek (also known as the XV previously) has been offered with some form of hybrid powertrain before. The first debuted in 2013 and had a tiny electric motor and battery, which was followed by a plug-in hybrid version with a small amount of range was revealed in 2018, and later a mild hybrid offering with an e-Boxer system.
With the latest Crosstrek Hybrid, Subaru is looking to offer a hybrid system that is actually competitive. The series-parallel setup is based around a 2.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine running on the Atkinson/Miller cycle to deliver 165 PS (162 hp or 121 kW) and 209 Nm of torque.
This is augmented by an electric motor rated at 120 PS (118 hp or 88 kW) and 270 Nm for a total system output of 197 PS (194 hp or 145 kW) and an undisclosed amount of torque. These figures are an improvement over the plug-in hybrid model sold in the US previously.
Power for the electric motor is supplied by a 1.1-kWh battery that is charged via a separate electric motor generator. Both electric motors are integrated into the Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) that offers six virtual speeds.
As is Subaru’s tradition, all-wheel drive comes as standard and remains a purely mechanical setup with a continuously variable hydraulic transfer clutch to manage torque split. X-Mode with hill descent control and nearly 221 mm of ground clearance ensure the Crosstrek can still rough it out in the outdoors.
For the 2026 model year, the Crosstrek Hybrid will get two exclusive exterior colours called Sand Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl to compliment its 18-inch dark grey alloy wheels. The brand’s EyeSight suite of driver assist technologies comes standard along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 11.6-inch Starlink infotainment system.

The CB650R comes in three colour options for Malaysia – Mate Gunpowder Black Metallic, Matte Laurel Green Metallic and Candy Chromosphere Red. Meanwhile, there are two paint scheme choices for the CBR650R – Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Metallic – both colours derived from Honda’s racing motorcycles.
Both Hondas are identically powered by a liquid-cooled, inline-four cylinder, 649 cc power plant putting out 93.8 hp at 12,000 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. New is the 5-inch full-colour TFT-LCD screen featuring Honda Roadsync connectivity to the rider’s smartphone.

The CB650R and CBR650R are also the first motorcycles in Honda’s lineup to be available with its E-Clutch technology. Designed to make motorcycling, from beginner to expert level, easier and more enjoyable, the E-Clutch obviates the need for a clutch lever when changing gears, with manual changing remaining an option for the rider.
Riding conveniences include LED lighting throughout with the CBR650R getting dual headlights similar to the CBR1000RR-R and CBR600RR while the CB650R retains styling in Honda “Neo Sports” vein. Weight for the CB650R is listed at 207 kg and the CBR650R at 211 kg with seat height set to 810 mm for both.
