Weekly Photo Challenge: Saturated

Saturated 2

Every year I find at least one place to plant this combination of ferns and red begonias.  I enjoy almost every color variety of begonia but non stop red has claimed the top spot as my favorite with the maidenhair fern.  This pot spent most of the summer in a shaded spot by our back door but it had a week in the sun while we prepped the house for painting.  A few of the leaves have some sun damage but the plants are still healthy and will keep going strong until the first frost.

Black and White Animals

I’ve never met a Lab who didn’t love playing at the beach.  The combination of water, sticks, sand, other dogs and stinky things to roll in make for a fun-filled afternoon and a happy, sleepy dog who goes to bed early is pretty nice too.

Black and White Tuesday 9-24-13

B&W Tuesday 2 9-24-13

I had a few minutes to walk along the beach Friday afternoon and happily spent them listening to this gentleman, in his white suit and hat, play a trumpet while facing the waves.  There were several families around us enjoying the last hours of summer and just as I put my phone down two little girls ran up the sand dancing to his music.  When he finished they giggled and he thanked them for enjoying his song.  It was such a sweet moment and a fitting end to this beautiful summer.

I recently realized that even though both my About page and widget mention we love to cook, I haven’t posted a single recipe or even a photo of something from our kitchen. You’ll need to wait a little longer for my first recipe post but since this is the fourth Monday of the month and one of Sally’s Challenger Choices is Food, here are two tasty food photos.

This isn’t from my kitchen but sometimes the best place to spend a Saturday morning is away from home at the local diner enjoying a  huge, cooked to order, breakfast.

Some of you may remember my recent post about multicolored peppers from the Edmonds Farmer’s Market.  Here they are a few hours later, sautéed with onion and thinly sliced carrots, almost ready to join the Chile lime chicken in our fajitas.

Travel Theme: Through

Through 1

Through 2

Alisa’s weekly travel theme is all about the word “through”.  You never know what will come into focus through these view finders but this time we saw crystal clear views of Mt. Baker, migrating birds heading south for the winter and someone out for their last warm kayak trip of the season.
