Veselin Georgiev created this custom Geiger counter based on the MightyOhm Geiger Counter kit. Veselin’s version, called the LVA Geiger Counter, includes several changes:
Kits are available from robotev (shipping to Bulgaria and Balkan-area only).
Velimir Cvetkovic submitted a video of his nicely executed WiFi radio project to the forums. His project is based on my wifi radio project from 2008. At the heart of the radio is an Asus WL-520gU wireless router. Velimir wrote his own LCD display and channel selector firmware in BASCOM.
His wooden case design is very similar to the one Tony and I built for the 2009 Bay Area Maker Faire.
Nice work, Velimir!
Micro Center is selling off their remaining stock of Geiger Counter kits at a substantial discount. Looks like there are still a few in stock at select locations.
Last week I was honored to be a guest on the Embedded.fm podcast. Embedded.fm is “the weekly podcast for people who love making gadgets”, and is hosted by embedded rockstars Elecia White and Chris White.
We spoke about developing hardware at Valve, soldering, amateur radio, RF engineering, and the finer points of flux.
To listen, check out Episode 154: Physics Is a Big Pain over on embedded.fm.
