Scariest have to be the behemoths who are smiling when they’re beating on somebody. You get the feeling Matt Kassian is that type of guy — even if he’s just grinning on the inside.
Just as advertised, there’s much more to the newest Ottawa Senators heavyweight than his brawn and willingness to take on all-comers. Kassian, as his reputation suggests, is many things. One thing he is not is dull. He is also never at a loss for words.

You can’t define yourself by hockey because there’s going to be a wake-up call. Even if you play in the NHL. When your career is done, what are you and who are you? Sooner or later it’s going to be gone.
This summer, I’ll be heading out to Vancouver to attend a big Kassian reunion. I still remember the one I went to near Vegreville Alberta, about twenty years ago. My brothers and I raced around my great-great-grandfather’s old homestead on the Kassian farm, and created absolute havoc.
