Seeking Pastures New

by Hannah on March 4, 2013

Hello friends. This post has been a long time coming, but I’ve decided it’s finally time to end things at Foxtail & Fern and move on to pastures new. Things have been feeling a little stagnant around here for a while and more than anything I’ve been craving a completely fresh start.

You can now find me at my namesake URL, www.hannahhayes.co.uk. There’s not much original content on there at the moment, but that will change soon enough. In the meantime, you can check out my guide to Edinburgh, which I finally completed and posted there. Any feedback on the new site would be much appreciated.

Thank you for continuing to take an interest in my interests and hopefully see you on the other side!

[P.S. For those of you that follow by RSS, I will switch over the feed in about a week so don't worry about updating it.]

Bokeh Party

by Hannah on December 9, 2012

So I tried to do an outfit post and this happened. I don’t know, suddenly standing for the camera with the same silly smile on my face feels old and tired, but maybe I’m just getting lazy. Everything is thrifted and I’m pretty sure that my coat was intended for a young boy.

I’m in the process of growing out my fringe (yes, already, oh fickle me) and at the moment it has the most unfortunate habit of looking like a toupée. How does one navigate the dilemma of growing out a fringe? It seems to me that you’ve only got three options: the fringe toupée (please see above), the Bieber fringe or a helluva lot of hair pins. But then again, I never have been very good at styling my hair.

P.S. Turtlenecks (as in the chin-shy cousin of the neck-engulfing polo neck, not the actual neck of a turtle) = my new favourite kind of neck.

Recently*: New Old Things

December 3, 2012

One day I will have acquired so many old bits and pieces that I will probably be able to open up my own little museum. It will be a dusty museum, hidden away in a rickety old building in the middle of some large cosmopolitan city, closed more often than it’s open and riddled with […]

Dahlia, Pt. 2

November 21, 2012

The second set of photos I took for Dahlia went up online yesterday, if you’d like you can see them here. I know this Christmassy photo is a little premature, but when faced with several Christmas displays at a garden centre the other day I couldn’t resist asking Ian to take a photo. If you […]

Hello

November 19, 2012

Lately I’ve been spending more time in front of my sewing machine than my computer, working on a couple of damaged vintage dresses that I am determined to make wearable again. I’ll be sure to show you the fruits of my labour when I’m done. I’ve also been feeling a little uninspired, which is why […]

The Woods

October 31, 2012

If you go down to the woods today You’d better not go alone… Do you remember this dress? I decided it was finally time to give it a spooky debut so we took to the woods at nightfall to take some creepy photos. Scariest of all though was the police tape we found ominously wrapped […]

Dahlia

October 31, 2012

Hi friends! I’m following in the lovely Erin’s footsteps and guest blogging on the Dahlia blog today. I’m quite pleased with how the photos turned out considering they were taken using a tripod and remote and I had a fisherman staring at me from across the pond the entire time. Anyway, please do go check […]

Halloween Trinkets

October 30, 2012

I love collecting old decorations from Halloweens gone by. I can’t really explain why I like them so much, other than to say that it seems like Halloween might have been a bit more magical ‘back then’ (probably nonsense, but go with it), and these little objects capture the essence of that. One of my […]

Saddle Up!

October 15, 2012

BLOUSE AND SKIRT – VINTAGE SHOES AND TIGHTS – TOPSHOP BAG – JIGSAW Before anybody asks, yes, it was too cold to go out dressed like this! I was wearing a coat, I just didn’t bother to photograph it because it’s old, slightly too big for me and probably covered in cat hair. The coat […]
