How to make your own cigar box purse

People spend hundreds of dollars on a great purse, but not all of us can afford to spend that much on a purse. You don’t have to be a crafting expert to make you own cigar box purse. It’s cute and trendy, but pretty much costs you next to nothing. The best part is that you can decorate it exactly how you want. You can make it personal or a certain color to match certain outfits. Either way it’s a great investment of your time, but you won’t have to invest much money into this fabulous purse!

Here’s what you need:

– Empty cigar favor boxes

– Drawer handle

– Nail polish remover

– Paints

– Varnish spray

– Recycled leather

– Scissors

– Screws and a screwdriver

Here’s what you do:

  1. If your empty cigar box has stickers or stamps on it that you want to remove you use nail polish remover to get these off.
  2. Next your own do it yourself leather flower by cutting out a floral shape from an old leather jacket or purse that you are no longer using.
  3. Use paints, paint brush and your DIY leather flower to decorate your cigar box purse.
  4. Other items that you can use to decorate your cigar box purse include scrapbooking paper, rhinestones, embellishments, beads and anything you have in your craft room.
  5. Use your screws and screwdriver to attach the drawer handle to the side that will be the top of your cigar box purse.
  6. Use a varnish spray to coat and protect the entire cigar box purse.
  7. You’re ready to take your handmade cigar box purse out on the town!

Do it yourself puzzle

Today we’re going to be taking a departure from the recent slew of clothes related projects here at Craftcorners and get back to our roots with a classic paper idea. This blog post is going to be all about how you can make your very own puzzle from scratch. This is a very fun project for kids and adults alike, but children will especially appreciate it because unlike with other endeavors, they can be involved in every step of the process. There’s nothing quite like taking an idea and making it into a real and physical item completely from scratch – so what are you waiting for? Let’s get to it!

What You’ll Need

  • Blank drawing paper.
  • Cardboard or thick construction paper – decorative index cards can work too.
  • Markers and pens.
  • A pencil.
  • Scissors.
  • Glue.
  • Hairspray.

What To Do

The idea behind this project, as mentioned previously, is to make a puzzle completely from scratch. That means we’ll have to start by actually creating a picture! Have at it and remember to encourage creativity, but keep in mind that the more abstract the picture is, the more difficult it will be to put the puzzle back together. Coat the picture with several layers of hairspray, allowing for drying in between. This will protect it from wear.

After you’ve got your beautiful picture, its time to start designing your puzzle. Flip your picture over and break up the paper into whatever puzzle pieces or blocks you prefer. For ease of use, first timers, and younger children: try making a simple “pizza slice” pattern. You can make this as complicated as you like though, and shape templates can really help.

Once you’ve got your design, cut it up! Place the cut up pieces atop your cardboard or tough paper and glue them on, cutting them out again after they’ve dried. Now you’ve got a nice durable puzzle to play with!

DIY Masquerade mask

DIY Masquerade mask – Going to a masquerade party? Thinking about dressing masquerade for a different themed party? Well, a great and simple costume idea is making up your very own DIY masquerade mask. Many will just head to the local crafts store and pick up a plain white mask and decorate it, but making your very own mask out of scratch is both fun and really makes your costume shine. Here is a quick guide to making your very own high quality feather masquerade masks.

Materials:

–          Scissors

–          Plaster wrap cloth

–          Water

–          Petroleum jelly

–          Sand paper

–          Paint

–          Peacock feathers

–          Glue and chopstick

Step by Step Instructions:

  1. Apply petroleum jelly to face in area where mask will be.
  2. Cut two plaster strips, wet them in the water, and place in a “X” pattern across your face, covering the bridge of your nose.
  3. Continue to apply more plaster strips to your face in the shape of the desired mask. Make sure the mask is at least 3 layers thick.
  4. Allow mask to dry on face and remove, allowing it extra time to dry and become hard.
  5. Attach chopstick to edge of the mask with glue and cover with extra plaster strips.
  6. Sand the mask until smooth and apply desired paint.
  7. Glue peacock feather to the edge of the mask and you are ready to party!

If you feel like getting extra crafty, you can add on extra pieces to the mask using the plaster strips, such as spikes or animal ears. Either way, enjoy your new custom masquerade mask that is sure to be a hit at any party you go to!
