A bit about Bible Raps

Acting as a bridge between modernity and the written and oral tradition, Bible Raps uses the cultural styling of today to revitalize the classic texts of the past, while developing new methods of pedagogy that can be harnessed by teachers for the 21st century student.

Bible Raps is on tour and also available for Virtual Workshops. In addition, we have basic curricular materials for your classroom including an album with 26 Torah Raps and an accompanying teacher's guide, a Holiday series as well as the Bible Raps RAPport, a bottled class for you to use today!

Bible Raps RAPport Vol. 1

Bible Raps is excited to launch our first episode of the Bible Raps RAPport - designed to be a packaged 50 minute classroom activity for multilevel use. Matt Bar gives a Dvar Torah that is illustrated with memes, raps and other media interspersed with an activity for the class to do as a follow up. Get your Bible Raps RAPport Teacher's guide HERE. Matt Bar had the great honor of being asked to give an ELI Talk on a topic of his choosing last January and was thrilled to speak about Hip Hop and Judaism: Comparing Oral Traditions. Using hip hop as a lens to understand Jewish oral tradition, demonstrating that each functions as a type of education and tradition, calling on voices of the past to discuss issues in the present, Bible Raps believes that the Jewish oral tradition is alive and well, and that rap and hip hop are an important way to engage young people in ancient Talmudic debates. Use this talk, along with the accompanying Guide in your teen classroom or college Hillel group for a lively discussion.
This is a great example of one of our workshops, as part of our Holiday Series, that you can do at home, with your family or Hebrew school/religious school class (recommended for 5th grade and above). With each holiday, Bible Raps puts out at least one activity that you can bring back to your community. Interested in creating your own version of "In Every Generation" along with the other songs in our Hip Hop Haggadah? Click here to get the guide and start practicing today!
