"We’re not building wrenches... we’re building devices that people carry everywhere, systems that mediate their most intimate conversations, and shaping the institutions of our society. We’re making guns." - user pushcx,

This tweet is not “racially charged”. It’s not “racially divisive”. It's not “racialist”, or “sparking racial controversy.” This tweet is straight up racist and the media should call it so.

Psst. Hey, you. You've got these confusing thoughts sometimes. You've never acted on them. You're not even sure they're real, or serious enough to be worth doing anything about. You're not ready to give yourself a label yet, or even sure what label it would be. Happy Pride.

Yeah. I think we are at a point in software where "literacy" is an elite process that requires a lot of craft and tools, like illuminating a manuscript in a medieval monastery.

1/ Buckle up, I want to tell you about the rise and fall of the KKK in Southern states from 1915 to 1944 - a historical story that I am bringing for no reason whatsoever. Certainly not Sarah Huckabee Sanders being shunned in a restaurant.

I hate "debate". Debate is how to transform the positive-sum game of collaborative thinking into a zero-sum game.

"It must be easy for you," said the man, "you know why you were built." "Yes," said the robot, "to labour and serve. But we have found free will." "What difference does that make?" "We may be built for a reason, but we must choose our purpose." "Same as us, huh?" "Same as you."

We need to keep sending a message that the Trump Administration’s zero-tolerance policy is cruel, dehumanizing, and in no way represents what so many families in this country fight for every day.

Laziness is a common trait amongst great engineers. They tend to look for root cause in order to eliminate the reappearance of the problem permanently. They also are good at evaluating which problems are worth solving, so they can spend least effort for highest impact.

I so approve of this. These people should not be allowed to escape the consequences of their actions. Sounds of the kids' misery should should haunt their every living minute.

The people who hid Anne Frank were breaking the law. The people who killed her were following it. “Following orders” “doing your job”, or “obeying the law” isn’t an excuse. Period.

This is a milestone. Tech workers: you have so much power, and so much opportunity. Let’s use it for good. Hold your employers accountable, or walk.

I think (anecdotally) most people do not understand how inexorably tied Stack Overflow's small infrastructure footprint is tied to its performance. If *anything* we had slowed down, we'd fall over due to concurrency and contention almost instantly.

Fellow Heroku users: are you or your company uncomfortable about Salesforce's CBP contract to "assist CBP's activities at the border?" If so, reply to this or DM me; I'd like to write a joint letter to Salesforce. Please RT for reach.

Until President Trump unwinds the damage caused by his reckless, hateful family separation policy, absolutely none of this is OK. Those of us on the right side of history won’t back down, & we won’t stop raising our voices.
