    Calling for a Palestinian right of return is calling to destroy Israel. Which is it?

    In my speech, I talked about the need to return to the pre-1967 borders, to give full rights to Palestinian citizens of Israel, and to allow right of return. No part of this is a call to destroy Israel. It’s absurd on its face.

    Here’s my crazy idea: everyone should pretend that words have meaning; that we need to be human beings on social media; that the right to exist of large groups of people is not up for debate; that hope is a better way forward than outrage. Let’s do this for a year & check back.

    I propose asking each extreme side which methodology they would employ to achieve their aims. My anecdotal guess is that Hamas would call to annihilate Jews & Kach-style Jews would call for transfer of Palestinians (Jordan/Egypt). Neither good, but one is genocide and one isn’t.

    I ran my fastest half marathon (1:43:15) 3 years ago tomorrow, in week 14/19 training for what became my Marathon PR (4:03). Having a fantastic training season. Running the same HM course tomorrow in week 14/19 training for a new Marathon PR goal. I'm a teensy bit terrified.

    71 years ago today, the UN passed resolution 181, dividing British Mandatory Palestine into 2 states- Jewish & Palestinian. Israel accepted 22% of their indigenous homeland and began to build a state. The Arab League rejected the decision and declared war. The rest is commentary.

    The phrase "From the river to the sea" is a call for one Palestinian state and the destruction of Israel. For someone who claims to know enough about the conflict to to assume moral leadership on the issue, this is either frightening ignorance or gaslighting.

    This is silly. And inaccurate. “River to the sea” is a phrase that precedes Hamas by more than 50 years. It also has a variety of meanings. In my remarks, which you clearly didn’t hear, I was talking about full citizenship rights IN Israel and a redrawing of the pre-1967 borders.
