    Christmas movies almost invariably build their plot around the fact it’s Christmas. The Grinch Steals Christmas Buddy the Elf is a Christmas Elf. Etc etc In Die Hard it’s only really to provide context as to why the party is going on. It’s not vital to the films plot.

    For me, Christmas movies are movies that are better to watch at Christmas. Die Hard is just as good in summer. Elf isn't.
