In the mist of movie can we discuss the millions of artifacts stolen from Africans by colonialist? And to this day they refuse to return it? The photos below are Benin bronze plaque on display at the British Museum. Estimated to date back to the 16th century.

I try to follow lots of different people . Sometimes I see people talking about things from the AAPI/Native/Latinx/immigrant/undocumented/disabled/trans other not-my-identity experience that I don’t get. In that situation I: -google, or -read quietly, grateful to learn

Just a reminder last year on Thanksgiving that Natives were being tortured with dogs, illegal scare tactics, being run over by angry white ppl all to protect our water and this year on Thanksgiving they are now cleaning up 200,000 gallon oil spill on a South Dakota reservation

i'm rambling and need to get back to transcriptions. but as we fight displacement we've got to find a way to hold nuance-- stand with black people who have been here, welcome black migrants, and encourage them to become black Washingtonians the way generations of black folks have

and then there's NO SHORTAGE of middle class black lifelong Washingtonians who are full of shit. like forreal. read my neighborhood listserv and many others who aren't full of shit, of course lol

There's a shit ton black folks in PG County and other suburbs, whose parents were displaced from D.C. People who've been hopping back and forth across the border based on apartment prices their whole life.

there are also many young black newcomers who are really fucking struggling, barely making it, priced out of their own home cities, etc. here to hoping to find a job and a break. like black folks have been for years.

which is largely what is still bringing young hopeful black folks to the city today. the difference between now and the 60s is class. then, migrants were on average poorer than longtime residents. now it's the opposite.
