GNU Behistun - Summary
This project is part of the GNU Project.
GNU Behistun consists of software and utilities for geological and
geophysical modeling and mapping of internal structures and dynamics.
Behistun refers to the Behistun Multilingual Inscription (Old Persian,
Elamite, and Babylonian) and large rock relief on a cliff at Mount
Behistun near the city of Kermanshah in western Iran. Despite its
relative inaccessibility, Henry Rawlinson was able to scale the cliff
and copy the inscription in 1835, later deciphering one of the
earliest systems of writing, cuneiform, after knowledge of reading it
was lost by the second century.
Like the Behistun Multilingual Inscription, the Behistun software
utilities provide knowledge and functionality to work on planetary
systems and investigate their interior in freedom.
