think it was broader than that; chemistry and some engineering too. And those bans didn't just apply to Iranians; Iranian dual nationals who had never set foot in Iran were banned too. US Govt is now apparently banning Chinese students from studying robotics for more than 1 yr

Several European universities did exactly the same under Obama's nuclear sanctions. They were literally afraid that #Iran may technologically develop in a way that they did not deem fit (specifically barring Iranian students from certain courses).
