And, btw, in Wales what Chequers contains for farmers is manageable, whereas no deal is seriously threatening. So my considerations are already different from other non livestock areas. Colleagues have to be pragmatic..

There is almost never a vote, ever, on any topic, in which all MP’s believe 100%. It’s often the least worst option. Purity doesn’t exist, and we must never forget that in politics ‘everything is connected to everything else’.

If they do (and of course rebellions often change shape at the last moment) then they could trigger a chain of events which a) results in no brexit at all, of any kind and b) involves a rapid slide to a 2nd ref or a GE in which some will lose their jobs. Sensible?

Also forgotten that they are still behind, or at best level pegging, in most polls...

Issue here is the claim that you can’t have “recreation” and “conservation benefit” - it’s one or the other. That is clearly wrong as the two frequently co-exist. Whether people like the idea of shooting is another matter, whereas it’s positive impact is a matter of fact.

Excl: Two thirds of Brexit voters just want to leave the EU and don’t care how - ORB poll;

Take a look at new Brexit polling today from ORB. Plenty to digest but.. * 82% fed up with MP’s claiming to speak for everyone. * 71% want the Gov to get a “negotiated settlement” over any other outcome. * 82% think this will require concessions from all sides.

what evidence is there to suggest that a GE - whoever wins it - will break the deadlock.? Same problems for a leave or remain Government, plus years more uncertainty for business too.

Er, with the Fixed Term Parliament Act the one thing we learnt in 2017 was that there is no such thing as ‘snap’ - minimum 6 weeks plus numerous colleagues (both main Parties) in marginals having to vote in favour of possibly losing their jobs...

Interesting tactic. Declare all your cards to other players at start of poker game...

Maybe, just maybe, some of those determined to argue that “failure” lies solely at the feet of UK Gov May now recognise that the European end of the negotiations is blind to the PM’s room to manoeuvre back here..?

Astonished (or possibly not) by the endless nonsense being spouted about Brexit/Chequers etc. The facts are simple - we don’t know what the final offer will be, and when we do we will need to compare them with the alternatives, no deal, 2nd ref, etc. And then we will vote.

You may want to re-read that comment Malcolm! You can’t really just ignore the numbers....Gov would be a rather simpler task if that was so..

It’s about 60/40. And your comments illustrate the whole reason I wrote this piece.
