Why is this a concern? Drip irrigation saves on water, and with fertigation or nutrigation, plants get targeted fertilizer or nutrients. And soil serves as the anchor for the plant.

Crazy simple solution: Make everyone pay for the water they use. Market forces will cure the problem. As long as water is free or subsidized, irrational behavior is logical.

When a dispassionate, non-ideological history of the regime is written, the scope of the environmental destruction will be revealed. Even before then, though, we know that - except for those favored by the corrupt IRGC - water resources in Iran have been irreparably destroyed.

A wonderful and inspiring story from India. Still, it is hard to imagine how India solves its water shortage before a major humanitarian crisis hits.

Hard to argue with this. But more needs to be said about how governments will be encouraged to fund this. Raising a scare about Ebola won't be enough. via

A bit different from the places you’ve been previously posted. From the poorest and most technologically challenged to this. You deserve it!

Aren't there enough people to take on conservatives without (Bob Goodlatte's son) and Stephen Miller's uncle ripping apart their families to protest policies? Family is the building block of society. Once broken, it’s hard to return. via

Although everything had to be Off the Record because of State Department rules, my interview with for my book was among the best. I came away from it with deep admiration.

Surprising report: Despite water scarcity in Yemen due to collapse of municipal water supply, water tankers have not been price gouging. No guarantee on water quality, but still nice that fairness is possible, even in hellish circumstances.
