This is where they want to lock up kids - worth their parents, as their solution for ending family separation. Outrageous that this is being considered as a “compromise”.

There are no words. There are, however, plenty of actions. We—together with our incredible partner orgs who've worked on this issue for so long—need help. Here are five actions you can take RIGHT NOW to help and :

Do not be fooled. The so-called-compromise bills propose to “solve” family separation by waiving child welfare laws so that they can lock children in unlicensed jails with their parents. That is NOT a solution. It is abhorant.

long before and others filed a complaint about family separation, we filed this complaint on the immense trauma family detention inflicted on mothers and children. jailing families can NEVER be the alternative to separating them.

Former Secretary of DHS - agrees, family separation is inhumane and it is not a deterent. Same goes for family detention. But alternatives do work. The administration is intentionally ignoring that option.

1/ Idea that the law requires zero tolerance and family separation = lie. Idea that only Congress can fix it = lie. The idea that the Trump administration's hands are tied = lie. The idea that there are no ways to ensure those with credible asylum claims show up = lie.

Dear media and elected officials-thank you for pushing back against the narrative that family separations are a result of a Dem law. Now, please push back against the untruth that the only options are to prosecute or detain No prosecutions of asylum seekers and no child detention

Janelle, the administration is blocking ports of entry so that asylum seekers cannot come in that way. People have a right under US law to ask for asylum no matter how you get here. Sadly, it is the administration that is breaking multiple laws in this case.

I don’t care what your politics are, we can’t be a country that separates children from their parents. Do something about this, here.

Thank you for taking a stand for what is right. Humanity, and recognizing when enough is enough is something all Americans should be able to recognize when it comes to these horrific separations, regardless of political party.

You can’t simultaneously argue that family separation isn’t happening, that it’s being used as a deterrent, that the Bible justifies it and that it’s fault. is not being served well by his advisors on this issue.

Father's Day is a day we shouldn't take for granted - it's a special day set aside for families to be together. And given the news from the border, it's something I'm thinking about today.

I'll say it again, if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it's probably a duck. Also, Secretary, there's been more than enough reporting that you and your Admin CONCIOUSLY chose to separate families. Let's review. We'll start here:

Chief Padilla . The misinformation is yours. I watched a child taken from her father. An officer came and took the girl away to send her to Ursula. He did not say a word to the dad. They only had a chance to say goodbye because I insisted they have a moment.

Credible reports of port-of-entry officers blocking asylum-seekers, or making them wait outdoors for days or weeks, In El Paso: In McAllen: In Nogales: In San Diego:

. like I told officer who said he was just transferring a 9 y.o. girl to a shelter -not separating her from her father. If you take a child and put them on a bus to a shelter without their parent. You are separating. Actions matter. Period.
