The Assyrian Kingdom is famous for displacing surviving ethnic communities around and mixing them which makes for a fairly diverse genetic mix for most.

As to Kurds, the ancient Assyrians scattered 10 of 12 Israelite tribes among the Medes, which is why many Kurds share DNA with "Jews."
