Our discussion centered around France’s plans to invest in the agricultural sector, particularly commercialization and mechanization. Giving that agriculture is one of the top priorities of my government, we, as a country, are very much excited about the prospects of the plan.

I was happy to receive the Ambassador of France to The Gambia, His Excellency, Christophe Bigot, in my office at the State House in Banjul. Christophe is a good friend of The Gambia who’s supported our effort of building the “new Gambia”.

I was highly encouraged to hear the delegation express unreserved support to complement the ongoing change process that is taking place in the country. Their promise to stand by us in every step of the way in our effort to build the ‘new Gambia’ has given me more confidence.

We need support but it is our responsibility to build The Gambia. Along the way, we are willing to correct our mistakes. ‘Rome was not built in a day,’ but in this five-year transition, we can build a strong foundation for future generations to build on.
