'If they don't have the barrels, they don't have the barrels': Oil could soar to $100 as Trump shuts Iran out of the market

The State Department has ordered buyers to cut oil imports from Iran by November 4. Against a backdrop of falling output from other key OPEC countries, analysts say barrels could hit $100. The Trump administration has called on buyers to cut off oil imports from Iran in efforts to pressure the third-largest OPEC producer to change its behavior, a move that could squeeze global supply and pressure prices that are already at four-year highs.

Ford Falls Below $9 for the First Time in More Than Six Years

Ford fell 3.3 percent on Tuesday to close below $9 for the first time since August 2012. In the absence of major news, automotive shares fell with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV slipping 0.9 percent and General Motors Co. dropping 4.7 percent, the most since May 2017. Ford announced Monday that it’ll shake up its global marketing operations, in part by transferring advertising business away from longtime partner WPP Plc, but the automaker is expecting to save just $150 million annually.

If you buy only one marijuana stock, this should be it

Astute investors with experience recognize that while some will make millions by investing in marijuana stocks, most will lose their shirts. This makes sense because of high volatility, stock prices being divorced from fundamentals, pump-and-dump schemes, trading based on sentiment and short-squeezes and occasional frauds. Please see “How to potentially become a marijuana millionaire, albeit carefully.” Investors have been asking me: If I could buy only one marijuana stock, what would it be?

MORGAN STANLEY: The stock market has reached a 'tipping point' — and the market's most beloved companies could be hit hardest

Morgan Stanley says surging bond yields could spark a shift in US allocations towards value stocks from their high-flying growth counterparts. It favors energy, utilities, and financials over tech and consumer discretionary stocks. Morgan Stanley also thinks a bear-market correction could arrive in 2019, sooner than markets expect.

Alibaba? There Are Sound Reasons to Invest Elsewhere

Long-term shareholders of Alibaba know a thing or two about taking the good with the bad. Often spoken of as the Amazon of China, it's what really amounts to a holding company does through its subsidiaries... have a lot in common with Amazon such as e-commerce, cloud computing, mobile media, and entertainment are concerned. Yes, Alibaba does have a great deal in common with Amazon... except maybe in performance... as the trade conflict between the U.S. and China has developed, and as the Chinese economy has seen growth deteriorate rapidly enough for that central bank to resort to cutting their Reserve Ratio Requirement for the fourth time this year.

Netflix (NFLX) Q3 Earnings Preview: What's Shaping Up?

The market expects Netflix (NFLX) to deliver a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended September 2018. This widely-known consensus outlook is important in assessing the company's earnings picture, but a powerful factor that might influence its near-term stock price is how the actual results compare to these estimates. The earnings report, which is expected to be released on October 16, 2018, might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations.

Chinese Stocks: Losers Now May Be Winners Later

Chinese stocks are falling in price as the country’s central bank cuts reserve requirements in the face of the U.S. trade war. Alibaba (NASDAQ:BABA) opened for U.S trade Oct. 8 down 16% for the year, falling another 1.7% in pre-market trading to $152, and the pain continued after the open. China bears might notice how the administration can quickly back down when it decides to, as it did with Canada and Mexico — with whom it has a new deal little different from the last one, which it yet proclaims a great victory.
