Earlier, family and friends held a memorial for 14-year-old Alexander Schachter, a freshman and trombone player in the school marching band, at the Heron Bay Marriott in Coral Springs.

A runaway dog wandering New York City's subway tracks created a hairy situation for transit officials and commuters Friday afternoon. A and C train riders also experienced delays as transit workers and police spent an hour trying to search and rescue the lost pup. Five people are dead after the driver of a tractor-trailer lost control on the 10 freeway in Railto, California, plowed through the median and into oncoming vehicles on the other side of the road.
