Forced to download otherwise the notification just wont go away. However when you download it to check what notification you have, it's just a notification from facebook saying "You are now connected on messenger. Say hi to......". Why should I give 5 stars to an app who forces you to download it??? I don't even use this app. Hello? We have watsapp and wechat why should we use this. The best is to uninstall facebook because without facebook, no one ever uses messenger. So why do you separate these two apps in the first place? Genius.

I honestly do not understand why do we even need this additional app on to the one that I already have for facebook? I honestly think you might just be screwing with us just because you can. Because there is absolutely no reason why this could not have been integrated with the main Facebook app. Change this and you might actually get better ratings in the future.

Two things in messanger is to be added. 1. Users can select a fixed picture of friends. It's something like nicknames. That picture will be shown only who select that & the person who is selected. Fully as nickname. 2. When i go to any friends info, bellow there, all the pictures are shown together we shared each other. it's a nice option. but when i open a picture, i can take only three actions those are Save, Share & Forward. There is no 'DELETE' opt there. if was, it would be helpful for users. Others thing seems better. All the best for messanger team

Please give us back the ability to close the chat heads by pressing "back" on our phones. Now it goes first to my chat list and THEN, only after I press "back" one more time, does it exit the chat heads. I don't need to see my chats. If I wanted to, I would have went there. I just want to go back to my other activities quickly and without having to press a million buttons.

Great but few cinks I love the app and it's a great way to stay in contact with friends and family but it's pretty dumb that I have to download another app... Why can't you put it on facebook? Why did you make another app that is as space hungry as facebook is? At times it doesn't want to send simple stuff like GIFF's and short video's. Be great if y'all fixed that kinda stuff... Just sayin
Update: its now over 6 months since fb msnger fails for voice and video calls if a bluetooth audio device (i. E. smartwatch) is connected. If i call from my phone via messenger audio or video it instantly fails. Turn off bluetooth and all works. Fb msngr needs to ignore (or use) connected devices. Please fix!
Would like to be able to easily see what time a message was sent/received/read from both/all people in the chat. Also says the other person is typing when they really aren't, even if they aren't active. Won't deliver my messages quickly, even when we're both on Wi-Fi. Seems to do that in the early morning after hours of inactivity. Even after hours of it sending, it won't deliver. Won't show last time someone was active if it's over 2 hours, or whenever it wants.
This is app is painfully slow even on the best hardware. Why do we need a separate app from he FB app? Neither are strong apps alone. Google duo is so much more stable. A lot of messaging apps are more stable. This app actually used to be halfway decent. Not sure why or how it's gotten worse over time.
Honestly sick of the constant updates and pointless additions. What is the point of the new "friend is active" notification while IM ALREADY ON MESSENGER? It looks messy and tacked on. If I want to see who is online I will look at the Active Now section. I only have this app because I HAVE to.
Extra features like the gifs, and games for the most part seem useless and don't work all the time. Switching accounts does not work, once the other account is loaded a message saying the session has expired pops up and immediately makes me log back into the first account, yet another unusable feature. Also automatically updates without permission, I have automatic updates turned off for all apps and it still updates without permission.
Hostile notifications. No longer an option to mute notifications indefinitely. When notifications are muted, they still show up in your notification bar covering your clock, battery level, etc. There is no way to turn this off. When blocking notifications in Android, these aggressive notifications still appear, and the app complains that the notifications are off. People who like to be bothered constantly will like this. People who like options and freedom will not.
Ok I use the app no problem. Minus the cluttered things but I'm used to it. Besides that though I wanted to talk to you about me getting sent random videos in zip files. Is this a problem, a virus or just a small bug? I have screenshots if you need them
This app is good for messaging and I love how many games you can play and how you can send gifs and everything. But what really sucks is sometimes it will be offline and it wont tell you and it will start working and you'll get all your mesaages at once except it will timestamp them like they just sent them. Sometimes it will just disconnect and not reconnect to the interent and you have to close it and re open it. It really needs to fix the performance issues on this
Not only did my message somehow send to the wrong person, it sent to someone who's not even on my contact list, someone that I'm not even connected to on Facebook! That could have gone horribly wrong if it was a different message or different person, I have no idea how a glitch that big could happen, but please fix this now!!
Ever since the update, all that's happened is that it says people are active when they're really not and now the app crashes every time I tried to call. It's pissing me off because I can't even call my bf who's two hours away anymore! Plus, you have way too many app permissions.
Just gets worse and worse. Messages aren't being sent to me. Constant notification there even though no unread messages. Read.messages and it tells. Me I haven't. I send a message and it tells me I have unread ones but it's the ones I've sent. Honestly just ridiculous. Maybe if you left it alone so it's just a Facebook messaging app there wouldn't be so many problems
this app has been acting very whacky all of a sudden. yesterday while responding to a message the app closes out of nowhere. today it sends me a message to log back in because my "session has expired". this has never happened before and when i log in it stays like that and never logs out on its own. please fix this x
So I changed my password on facebook, then I chose to log out other devices, and it logged out my account in Messenger. After logging in again, it won't show any conversations. It just shows a white screen that says "Something went wrong...". I cleared it's data, tried again, same result. I reinstalled, same result. Kindly fix this or help me. I'm using a Samsung J7 Prime. Thank you.
Good for conversations when you don't need to open facebook directly. Suggestion/request though, please have an open to search specific words in threads or a timeline where you can scroll to if you want. Because I'm often searching for old messages that were sent to be but it's a hassle scrolling up all the time. If we could have an open to hit to go to the beginning of the conversation to any point in time with a quick hit.
The app asks for too many permissions. I can turn them off manually in settings on my Samsung Galaxy S8. That's too much trouble though. What guarantee do I have that Messenger won't turn permissions back on? So, I use Chrome Browser & go to my FB profile page. Request the desktop site through Chrome settings. Then I'm able to view my messages.
Okay, for some reason, I am not getting any push notifications even though they are on according to what the app tells me and my phone. Please fix this. This is annoying because I would have to open the app to manually check for messages. No chat heads and no sound.
I used to message off the browser, it was better than forcing us to use this problematic app. It's taken 2 days to send 1 message and still won't send. On top of that, I can't send a video to my sister. There seems to be a problem every week with this and it's beyond frustrating.
Annoying sounds I hate the sound I get anytime someone sends me a message. Most times i have to put my phone on silent before chatting with friend to avoid the annoying sound and notification. I wish there will be a way to turn off the sound of the messenger completely for all chat.
The first time I got the app it worked perfectly on my phone but now after the latest update it refuses to even open. I don't know if this is something to do with my phone because this happened on a couple other apps after updating but please fix. Other than that while it did work it was fine I just didn't use it that much
No dark theme or night mode. quality for sending pics and video not as great as other app. Not accurate online offline status. Other stuff works great but these 3 points needs to be fulfilled if messenger wants to be my main app for talking to my close friends
No matter what I do to my settings, it will always show me as active anytime I use my phone. I want to have the option to reply to messages on my own time, but instead I get messages from people who can see me online and expect an immediate answer. Why are they seeing me online when I've switched the active button off?
Dear Programmers, It would be really nice if we can have the option to deactivate our account or unseen by some friends(not all) without blocking them. I know that there is an option wherein my friends can't see if im online or not. What I want is to be seen deactivated. And have it activated whenever I want to.
App is garbage. 1)I don't like being forced to use it. 2)I can't access my archive messages. 3) After reading a message I still continue to have a notification showing that I have an unread message when in fact I do not have a single unread message, this will last for hours due to one message. Those are just the complaints I have right off the top of my head. There are other small issues that I have.
I don't like it at all because it won't allow other people to see "my day". I mean it's nice and all but it needs SERIOUS improvements and fixes!! I really do not recommend this app at all. Do snapchat or tango, tango is the same thing with a super duper amazing twist. I'm sorry it was just a horrible experience.
Good way to stay in touch with people. Also face time with others to be able to see someone you miss and just want to see there face. Last but not least a good way to meet new people and make a connection with the one person you been looking for your whole life and possibly fall in love
It stays at a 1 star until it gives me some rather basic options. For example, I want the option to turn off the "Adam is active now" in the notification bar. It is almost insulting how little control I have of the features of the app.
MY DAY ISN'T WORKING. I've tried all the possible work arounds. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app, logged in from a different account. Yada yada yada. This wasn't the case before the latest update. I already sent a screenshot to your help center twice and no response yet. Your team is very slow. Please fix this issue now.
You now have advertisements! It drives me crazy having apps bloating around! That's the worst thing to have as a user. The last update is bad. Now the chat head can't be put wherever we want. It's wierd and inconvenient. Otherwise, a standard messaging app for Facebook users.
New update has made it laggy and has made deleting messages and marking messages as read impossible. UPDATE: fixed prvious issue. Now new update means that theres a bar across my chats that says "add something to your day" which i hate! Its getting in the way of reading messages and i cant get rid of it, its very annoying! Im never going to use the my day feature so get rid of this bar please and keep that silly bubble/chat head that is just for the my day feature away too! Its so annoying and unneeded!!!
As of current, attempting to use Bluetooth whilst in a call through the app will disable the wireless connection if you have one set up in your area. And if you disable bluetooth, the Wi-Fi will work again.. this is not good for those that lime to set down their phones in their house and speak via speaker or headset. Please fix this ASAP.
For whatever reason, clicking the "see details" button, when inquiring about a product from Facebook, does nothing. Literally... button will flash, but won't take me to the seller's post. I have to go back into Facebook, go to my saved list list, and hunt for the product I messaged about.....fix this and MAYBE receive 5 stars...
*Update 12/28/17. Video portion of Recvd videos are not viewable in chat window. Messages lagging. App freezing. *Update 11/8/17. Text is visible *Still unable to see what I'm texting in the active window. *In-App camera still cropping the heck out of pics. **However... App is NO LONGER saying that it can't connect to the internet. (Android 6.0+).
Having an issue recently with the chat heads. When you minimize them, they just vanish. Doesn't happen every time, but happens a lot. Maybe an issue with a recent update? Please fix! Also, not sure if this is my phone or the app to be fair, but I've only had this phone for 2 months. Recently messenger will not receive any messages, though it is still sending I believe. Then all at once, I will get a bunch of messages coming through from the past several hours. Not sure why this is happening.
