When someone follows your site, each time you publish new content on your blog they receive an update in their Reader, via email, or both depending on their settings. On your site stats page, you can learn some details about how many followers you have, who your followers are, as well as how many people are subscribed to comments on your site.

Site Followers

To view your followers, go to WordPress.com and click on the My Sites tab in the header. This will show the stats for your primary site.

From there, click the Insights link at the top of the page:

 

Next, scroll down to the bottom of your Insights page until you see the module titled Followers.

There, you’ll see the total number of WordPress.com followers, as well as a list of some of the more recent followers. Clicking on any of your followers names will launch their site in a new browser tab, and clicking on the  Follow link allows you to follow their site as well. You can also select the Email option from the dropdown to see a similar list of just your email followers.

How to Remove a Follower

To remove a WordPress.com follower, go to My Site → People → Followers. Find the follower, and click the Remove link next to their name.

You can also remove email followers at My Site → People → Email Followers.

Social Media Followers

If you have connected any of your social networking services (such as Facebook or Twitter) through our Publicize feature, counts for your followers on some of those services will also be shown in the Publicize module.

Note: Not all social networking services tell us your follower count. LinkedIn and  Google+, for example, will not always work. Google+ only shows followers for Pages, not your personal Google+ profile.

Switching sites

If you have more than one site, click on the Switch Site link located under the title of the site you are viewing currently to switch to another site.

Follower Stats

Your site stats page displays how many followers you have, who your followers are, as well as how many people are subscribed to comments on your site.

To view your followers, go to WordPress.com while logged in, and click on Stats. If you have more than one blog, select the correct blog from the dropdown menu in the upper-righthand corner above your stats graph.

Then, scroll down to the bottom of your stats page until you see the module titled “Totals, Followers & Shares”:

There, you’ll see the total number of your blog followers, as well as the total number of comment followers (anyone who has subscribed to a comment thread on your blog).

If you have connected any of your social networking services (such as Facebook or Twitter) through our Publicize feature, counts for your followers on those services will also be shown.

To see your individual followers, click on the small “Blog” link under your Follower count (see arrow in above screenshot).

This will take you to a screen that lists each of your followers:

Note that at the top of that list, there are links to view your site’s “WordPress.com Followers” and for “Email-only Followers.”

Followers are any WordPress.com user who has followed your blog using the WordPress.com Reader. They may or may not also be an email follower, depending on their settings. Email Followers are anyone who is following by email only, WordPress.com user or otherwise.

The email addresses of your subscribers are not made public to you, in order to protect their privacy. However, if you’d like to collect names, email addresses, or other data for your own e-mail list, you can use a Contact Form.

Troubleshooting

Having trouble following a blog?

Double-check that you have confirmed your subscription. If you have a WordPress.com account, you can view all of the blogs and comment threads you’re following on your Followed Sites page. If you don’t have an account but are following WordPress.com blogs, view your subscription settings at subscribe.wordpress.com.

Not receiving email updates?

• Check your spam/junk email box. If your email client gives you the option to unblock specific email addresses, try allowing *@wordpress.com (all emails from the domain) and/or [email protected] addresses.
• Make sure you to uncheck the box next to “Block all email updates from WordPress.com blogs you follow” on your Email Delivery Settings page.
