Its a good messaging app but i have a problem its saying that i have a message and there's no message. Its been like that for 3 days and i tired restarting my phone to see if that works but nothing. I would like help.

It lacks the following basic features. 1. Locking a imp message to prevent it from getting deleted. 2. No option of multiple selection of messages to delete . We have to select individual messages to delete the same. 3. No option available to keep important messages in a customized folder.

Personally I wish it were more customizable. I wish you could change the colors and bubble shapes. I get bored easily and the colors that are automatically there aren't stimulating or creative. Pop up messages would be nice so you can reply quickly. I don't feel like its secure or unique. Sometimes I get my messages out of order with it. The messaging updates are weird. I wish it were more accessible too! With a dark version or different text size options. Some variety would be nice.

Very good app. There are still two options missing, which are available in other apps: 1. "Mark as read" from notification, useful when there is no need to reply the message. 2. Marking several messages for delete, currently it's only possible to delete one message at the time or whole conversation. 3. Difference between "Mute" and "Block" should be explained better. Currently, to me it looks like they do the same thing, except for that blocing archives messages.

I like this very much for the most part, however I think it would be nice if it was easier if some of the settings were easier to find or to work out... It's not the easiest thing to look for a specific setting and figure out if that is in fact what you are looking for. I like this, it works very well. But if all the settings were easier to find/navigate it would make things a lot easier

I was in love with the messaging app. Was willing to never look at another messaging app again. And then I started finding out that I wasn't receiving messages that were being sent to me. The individuals would get my messages but I wasn't getting theirs. With a blink of an eye I switched back to my boring but still reliable stock messaging app. I'm running the Samsung S8.

You should add a few more features before it gets a better rating. First: wake up screen when getting an incoming message. Makes knowing when you get a message easier. Second: vibrate alert when you pick up the phone and have an unread text message. Makes it easy when your phone is on a table and you are in another room to know right away that you have a missed text. Third: mark message as read when you reply from the app drawer. Makes no sense to have me go into the app to read the text when I already replied to it.

The app is good but we need some other features like pinning the messages tobe on the top of the list, marking them a star as an important message. And it also takes some time to show the messages after opening the app. Please fix this problem and give those features please. It'll be really helpful for us.

This is a great app. It is probably the best messaging app without all the bloat of any Messenger app I have seen on any phone. My main gripe with the app right now is that there is no way to schedule a text message. This should be an essential feature in most messaging programs and its not there. For this I use Textra. If this was added it would get 5 stars hands down. It needs to be a priority for Google!

Typical Google. They filled it with clutter and made it confusing and difficult to use! Can you please make a more user friendly version of this app. One that is more similar to the old one. Why are there over 5,000 contacts on my list. It puts people from Google plus in my contacts list which is completely ridiculous and annoying! I should only have around 30 close friends and relatives in my contacts list. Please fix ASAP!

Works well but definitely isn't fancy. The limit on number of contacts in a group message is a pain in the butt. It shouldn't be difficult to develop a way that 1) splits the contacts into smaller groups to send to meet network requirements, then 2) conglomerates the replies in the same group message upon return. Or has some other work-around. Otherwise pleased with the app

Update rating ..(Since the last update people STILL are not getting my SMS messages or pic messages) they're getting them out of order in multiple SMS & it's happening to not only people that have an iPhone but other new updated phones such as a Samsung 8.. and very delayed sending sms please fix & update

The app appears to have added some functionality in a recent update, unless it's something added in Android O. Now, when data is off - it still notifies of a MMS, and if data is on - it automatically downloads it!! Google always required you to choose one or the other, it could never autodownload with data on AND also give a notification of a MMS of data was off. Which never made any sense to any of us users. Good on you Google, for adding a feature people need to have a functional phone (at least this once). Now let's see if you can start adding some of the stable, extremely useful and desirable features found in every single custom ROM into your OS. The reason every developer adds these simple features is because people want them, and they're stable, and useful.

It might not be the best messaging app I've ever used but it's up there. It's fast, responsive, and has basically every feature I could want. Plus it's stock and no adds (which non pro version of slightly better apps I've used have). No reason to change from this on the pixel

The app is great except for one essential and fairly simple feature: auto-delete old messages. On all of my previous phones I have been able to set it to only keep the newest X amount of messages. I didn't realize that this app does not do this and now I have 8 months of messages in a single thread, which slows the whole app down. And I can't delete multiple messages at once without deleting the entire thread.

I just changed phones and was disappointed to not be able to find any of my archived messages... Please add the ability to sync these to our Google account too. Pictures also are sent in very poor quality with this app. Have to change back to the stock one if you want to send a quality picture.

The space to write message is very small. When entire screen is available, the message editor is crammed at the bottom with just couple of lines. Please make the editor a little better place to write message. Secondly, in Gmail, we talk the icon to select multiple messages and here we have to long press one message and then tap on the messages to select multiple messages. This is confusing. There must be consistent UI of at least across the Google apps.

Worst messenger ever. I downloaded this garbage after being instructed to do so by Textra, because of problems with their app. This was worse. Lost most of the custom settings, messages all chopped up, out of order, words cut off after 1-2 letters. Wrote back to Textra and got the typical "it's a carrier problem - Contact them." Funny, but the carriers hadn't changed at all, and didn't have the problem on Google Voice. Sometimes a message was cut off, but at least it wasn't all chopped up and out of order. Don't waste your time with this. Time to uninstall and that's the truth!

It's a neat app for messaging. But I think being provided by Google, we can expect more from it like: 1. Clubbing by categories to help us remove spams and promotional messages 2. Ability to 'Mark multiple messages as read' etc.

I still can't recieve MMS messages, even after completely clearing my phone and adding permissions. Worthless. Google clearly doesn't care about users enough to fix this very very old problem. At this point I must conclude that their QA team is either lazy or incompetent. I had to change my default messaging app back to the stock app that came with my phone to download all my group messages. I have a MotoX Pure phone and am on Sprint

It was pretty good until it kept crashing stock Android. A Google app that crashed it's own os. Not very smart that one. Now I will say it probably wasn't all Google I am running a ZTE Z981 and they may not get along due to ZTE's own modifications to the OS. But I couldn't use it due to too many lock ups.

Over the past two.weeks, I've randomly NOT been getting texts. It doesn't appear to be from my carrier, because when I look up my text messaging through my SMS site, the messages are there. They just aren't coming through the messaging app the way they're supposed to. Most of my business is done through texting and it's frustrating when customers or coworkers ask a question and I don't get that text. They feel like they're being ignored, and I have no idea why they're upset. I did a little research online and I'm not the only one that has this problem and it isn't just my particular version of the phone, so I believe it has to be the messaging app. I hope that an update fixes this bug.

When it's working, it's great, but when it isn't, it's a pain. Lately, I haven't been receiving any notifications for my messages. In other words, when people text me, I don't get notified. It's not my phone because I get notifications from every other social media app on my phone, so it has to be this sms app causing the problem. Please fix, and the app will definitely receive 5 stars.

It would be great to have the messages back up to an account, so you don't lose anything when you get a new phone/reset. Also a desktop app would be sweet too. Also, while using Android Auto, I'll get a message and it ends up getting deleted in messenger before I get to see it.

It's a good stock sms/mms app. My only complaint is that I cannot disable to popup banners when I get messages. These things are so annoying. If I could turn them off and just get the little icon, notification sound and led I'd be set! Update that feature!!

Amazing app! Would recommend for any android user. Very easy to use and navigate and manage texts. Can also back them all up to Google drive so if you switch phones, you won't lose your texts. 5 stars

I liked the app since I've had the phone but recently most of my text messages say that they fail to send. Then I find out some people do actually receive then. It's highly frustrating that one of the most basic functions doesn't work properly anymore. I hope you get this fixed soon!

I got it so i could send gifs so in that aspect it works just fine. Just disappointed that there doesn't seem to be a way to customize the layout. I want to add a background picture for my text screen and adjust colors 😞

This messaging app use to work so well until the latest update. My default notification won't stick and my phone vibrates every time I receive a text message. I have the vibration option off as a default and I have to go into each individual message to turn off vibrate. Frustrating.

Does more or less what you'd expect... BUT, If a single contact has several numbers (like work+private mobile), the app doesn't show you which of the numbers you're messaging. That's quite annoying.

Switching to this app for texting as it solved the new problem with Samsung keyboard crashing whenever you use an emoticon (new iasue since Nougat update). As to what caused the Samsung keyboard to crash or if they are rolling out a fix I don't know. But now for the first time I am using googles own app and it's better. I just can't figure out how to a) get it to recognise custom alert tones for contacts b) draft some automatic replies. But I'll get there in the end.
