FAQ
- How can I set up billing for my existing Visual Studio Team Services account?
Many customers start out by setting up a free Visual Studio Team Services account directly on visualstudio.com, in which case limits the account to only using free services. In order to purchase Visual Studio Team Services users or additional services, you must set up billing on your Visual Studio Team Services account.
- Can I use the monthly Azure credit that I receive as a Visual Studio subscriber to pay for Team Services?
While the monthly credit does not apply toward Visual Studio Team Services purchases, you can still use this Azure subscription for billing. You’ll just need to set up a method of payment and remove the $0 spending cap. Learn more about monthly Azure credits for Visual Studio subscribers.
- When do I get charged?
All charges appear on your next monthly invoice. Charges are based on the number of users and Build and Deployment agents you elected to purchase during the month plus the actual usage of Build (XAML) or Cloud-based Load Testing, after the free amounts of service have been used. The free amounts of Build (XAML) and Cloud-based Load Testing reset on the first day of the month, regardless of your billing month.
- Will deleting a user reduce charges for users on my account?
Deleting a user by itself will not change the charges; you must also reduce the number of paid users via the Microsoft Azure classic portal. After making this reduction, the changes take effect at the start of the next month.
- Why do I not see Visual Studio subscriptions or Visual Studio Team Services extensions in the Microsoft Azure classic portal?
You can purchase Visual Studio Team Services users and additional services in the Microsoft Azure classic portal; Visual Studio subscriptions and Visual Studio Team Services extensions are purchased through the Visual Studio Marketplace.
- How do I avoid unexpected charges for Build (XAML) or Cloud-based Load Testing?
You control whether we will charge your account for Build (XAML) and Cloud-based Load Testing, and can set limits on usage. By default, your account is set to only allow free usage. You must explicitly enable charges within the Microsoft Azure classic portal.
- What if I add a user in the middle of the month?
When you purchase a Visual Studio Team Services user part way through the calendar month, the charges are prorated based on the number of days remaining in that month. When you reduce the number of paid users on your account, the change takes effect at the beginning of the next month.
