I’m joining @BenAllenCA to introduce a constitutional amendment to repeal Article 34 of CA Constitution, which bans cities from building “low rent housing” (but no other housing) unless approved by voters. It was adopted to keep out poor/non-white people. It needs to be repealed.

That said, Farr's involvement in intimidating black voters on the rabid segregationist Jesse Helms' behalf was immediately disqualifying and it should not have taken the GOP's only black senator to make that clear. It's not just his responsibility.

The Senate race has a new leader.

A reminder that long lines are not a good thing, they’re actually really terrible & a result of systemic failures in our voting system that keep many people from casting their ballot. It’s of course a good thing to celebrate the people in the lines, but not the lines themselves.

It’s worth repeating: deliberate obstacles to people voting, targeted at particular constituencies, are violations of their constitutional rights. They’re not shenanigans. They are an attack on democracy. The government’s unwillingness to defend those rights doesn’t change that.
