    The problem with 280 characters is that I really don't have anything particularly interesting to say, so this entire tweet is essentially just padding without any real substance; leaving you with a few wasted seconds and a distinct sense of emptiness upon reaching its conclusion.

    140 was arbitrary, but let me be clear: 280 is carefully considered and not-arbitrary. It is not simply double. No. It is innovation.

    This is a small change, but a big move for us. 140 was an arbitrary choice based on the 160 character SMS limit. Proud of how thoughtful the team has been in solving a real problem people have when trying to tweet. And at the same time maintaining our brevity, speed, and essence!
