It’s now been a bit over two months since the participants to the Open IoT Challenge have started to work on their projects, and like every year, I am pretty impressed by the creativity and the technical skills of all the teams.

For the past three years, we have been partnering with a number of organizations – IEEE, Open Mobile Alliance and Agile-IoT – to get a sense of the general trends in the IoT industry through an online survey.

We are happy to announce that the new name for the technology formerly known as Java EE is….[insert drumroll]… Jakarta EE.

In the world of open source, Committers are ones who hold they keys. Committers decide what code goes into the code base, they decide how a project builds, and they ultimately decide what gets delivered to the adopter community.

As part of our continuing adventures in migrating Java EE to the Eclipse Foundation I am pleased to announce that the draft of the EE.next Working Group charter  has now been posted for community review. Comments and feedback are welcomed on the [email protected] mail list.

The term Intellectual Property (IP) refers to any sort of creative work, be it literature, art, or software. In the realm of open source software, artifacts like source code, documentation, and images are considered intellectual property. Unless otherwise stated, intellectual property is the property of its creator, who may grant permission for others to use that intellectual property by providing a license.

Eclipse IoT Day is coming to the Bay Area on May 14, 2018, and I really hope you will be joining us!

This is my last day at the Eclipse Foundation. If you missed my earlier post, I have resigned from the Foundation and am starting to look for new opportunities.

Thank you to everyone in the Eclipse community for making my time with the Foundation an amazing experience. It is the people that make a community. I will definitely miss the people in the Eclipse community.

There is a lot going on as Java EE continues its migration to the Eclipse Foundation. Since there are so many parallel threads, I thought it would be a good idea to recap where we are, and what is coming up in the next few weeks.
