I've been to Frisch and Barc twice now, and it's still pretty high on my to-visit list. Like a lot of breakfast/brunch spots, there's no reservations but the staff will happily serve you coffee while you're waiting, and I haven't waited for longer than 10 minutes, so it's never been such a big deal.

The only "problem" with Frisch and Barc is the fact that you get food envy from the other dishes at your table - even though you are eating a fabulous dish yourself. Lance ordered Johnny's Breakfast Burger on both visits - his obsession with the tv show Bob's Burgers led him to an obsession with Johnny's Burgers (same owners as Frisch and Barc) which meant he was definitely going to try that. It lives up to it's name. It is both breakfasty, and burgery. Both elements living in harmony to create a burger distinct from the hearty style of Johnny's usual burgers.
I ordered the Chili Crab Omelette the first visit, and what an omelette it was. Perfectly soft and fluffy and stuffed full of crab. I don't think I've had a dish in my life that contained more crab. The chili had a kick without being hot, and the sautéed mushrooms added a chewiness that was welcome. The second visit I went for sweet. I have to be in the right mood for sweet at breakfast time, I'm generally a savoury person and the second visit I was all about the brioche French toast with pandan custard and berries. It was divine. It was sweet without being sugary, the custard subtle, the berries punchy and the absolute star being the dehydrated mandarin segments. Crunchy, chewy, tart and sweet. Perfect little oxymorons sitting on top of the dish.
My SIL ordered the Smokey Beans with a slow egg the first time, which from my spoon taste were definitely on the 'order again' list, and the second time was the corned beef on a hash brown with sriracha sauce. And that will probably be my fourth dish (I need to try the corn fritters with smoked salmon first!!). The balance of salty, spice, sweet, crunch on the hash brown was perfect.
The dishes here are all under the $25 mark, and most of them hover closer to $20 and below and they are worth every penny. They are thoughtful, well-executed and very, very large.
The coffee and tea is a little pricey, but good quality. And they have free help yourself water and sparkling water on tap. Service is friendly, despite the busy-ness of the café.
They also have an assortment of cakes - but I've always been too full to even consider them!
